Game Day
Well today is Sunday, January 26th which means it is game-day. Weather should not be a factor. Today at 6:30 the Chiefs will play the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium for the AFC Championship. The Eagles vs. Commanders will be playing for the NFC Championship at Lincoln Financial Field. Whoever wins today will play in the Super Bowl 59, in New Orleans, on February 9th. Whoever you are hoping to win, today should be a good day for football. At this time, I am not sure how I am feeling about how the Chiefs vs Bills game will turn out. I am a little nervous. The Chiefs have already lost this season to Josh Allen and the Bills and have won many close games overall, more than anyone in the NFL. I think it will all come down to who plays the smartest and cleanest. There is no room for penalties or turnovers. One thing for sure, game-day is always a good reason to eat wings. Go Chiefs!

The Team
The team is getting ready to play for the AFC Championship but it is not just one player that makes this team great. It is that they work together. At the start I was excited about the season and the chance to make it to another Super Bowl. Then injuries started to happen and key players were affected. Positions like running back, receiver even QB and kicker were affected and I was starting to get nervous. With players like Rasheed Rice, Isiah Pacheco, Hollywood Brown, Harrison Butler and even Mahomes out how would we win? But they did, I am not saying every game was a wipeout or even pretty but somehow they all came together and pulled it out as a team. That with help from great coaches and the best fan base the Chiefs have made it to another AFC Championship.

Head Coach Andy Reid-Big Red
What can I say about the legendary Andy Reid. He just won the 2024/2025 AFC Coach of the Year. Today Reid will make his 12th conference championship only behind Bill Belichick who has 13. He has been with the Chiefs since 2013 and has led them to 10 postseason appearances, eight consecutive division titles, six consecutive AFC Championship games, four Super Bowl appearances, and three Super Bowl titles. He has had a long career and that is not bad for a guy who started out coaching college ball and then as the offensive assistant with the Green Bay Packers. He was at Green Bay from 1992-96. While at there they did win Super Bowl XXXl. His first head coaching position from which he got fired was with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was there from 1999-2012. The Chiefs did not hesitate and picked him up immediately. Drafting Mahomes and other key players as Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill, and Kareem Hunt has helped him succeed over the years. Overall his record as a head coach in 273-146-1 not too bad by any account.

GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium where it all Happens
When the Chiefs relocated in 1963 they shared the Municipal Stadium with the baseball team the Kansas City Athletics. That stadium could hold 35,000 fans. During the merger of the AFL-NFL in 1966 NFL stadiums would be required to seat no less than 50,000 fans. In order to keep professional baseball and football in Kansas City it was approved to build 2 new stadiums side by side. Construction in Kansas City, Missouri, began in 1968 and was completed in 1972. It is the oldest stadium in the AFC and has 76,416 seats and is the 4th-largest in the NFL. Over the years technological advancements have been done to improve the viewer experience. In 2021, the naming rights to Arrowhead Stadium was changed to GEHA (Government Employees Health Associaton). Fun fact :The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted at Arrowhead.

#15 Mahomes
Considered to be one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time is Number15, Patrick Mahomes. While in college at Texas Tech Mahomes played both baseball and football and would later choose football. In 2017, rising star Patrick Mahomes was drafted 10th overall pick in the NFL draft to the Kanas City Chiefs. When he got drafted he was a backup to Kanas City starting QB Alex Smith. He made his debut against the Denver Broncos where he went 22-35 passes with one interception and ended up winning 27-24. He became QB1 in 2018 when Smith gets traded. That first year he won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year and the NFL Most Valuable Player. He has since led the Chiefs to seven consecutive AFC Championship Games and four Super Bowls.

KC Chief History
The Kansas City Chiefs were not always known as that. They started in 1960 as the Dallas Texans, as a member of the American Football League (AFL), as the Dallas Texans. In1962, they won the AFL Championship and relocated in 1963 to Kansas City, Missouri with owner Lamar Hunt and became the Chiefs. They were named after the mayor at that time, H. Roe Bartle whose nickname was "Chief". They would go on to win their second AFL title in 1966 but would lose to the Green Bay Packers in the AFL-NFL World Championship game. This game would later be called Super Bowl 1. The Texans/Chiefs were the winning most team in the history of the AFL from 1960-1969. They would go on to win their first Super Bowl in 1970 defeating the Minnesota Vikings, 23-7.

The Kansas City Chiefs
As the 2025 football season is coming to an end, there is a lot of pressure surrounding the Kansas City Chiefs. After winning in 2023 against the Philadelphia Eagles and then again in 2024 against the San Francisco 49ers, there are a lot of eyes on the Chiefs. Some hope that they fail, but many Americans are happily watching the successful rise of Kansas City and are die-hard fans, maybe because of the commitment, dedication, and teamwork, or because they love Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. Not only is the pressure on to win their third NFL Super Bowl game back to back, but also to make history considering it has never been done before. From the article March, "However, this journey is not without its challenges, particularly the mental strain of being the team that everyone is aiming to defeat." Many are hoping for Kansas City's downfall in the 2025 Super Bowl which is another added form of added stress for the Chiefs.
