“Shiny, does this have to be a self ship commission?”

No! It can be anything! I’ll gladly do OC x canon, OC x OC, or even canon x canon. If you have a DnD character or an OC that you want me to design based on your description and some reference images, I’ll be happy to give it a try! I’m willing to work with you to give you the art that you want, so don’t be shy to request something you aren’t sure I’m able to. Worst case scenario I give you a gentle no and we find something else I can do for you. No harm, no foul.

“Shiny, I don’t think I can afford to commission you. Will you lower your prices or offer cheaper options?”

I can’t offer anything low in cost like doodles or sketches at the moment. I’m in a very bad financial situation currently and I need to dig myself out, and the only way I can do that is if I do commissions that are worth the time they will take. I love doing little low price doodles, don’t get me wrong, but the time I spend doing those would be better spent working on a more profitable commission.

Maybe in the future I’ll open up doodle commissions again. We’ll see.

“Shiny, did you raise your prices?”

The best formula for finding the minimum price for your artwork is to take the number of hours you spent on the piece and multiply it by the minimum wage of wherever you live (my American is showing, I fear…), plus factor in the rough cost of materials used for the piece. For digital art, instead of material cost, you double the original price. This is how my professors taught me to set a price for my work when I enter it into shows/galleries and put it up for sale. Don’t price your work at what you think someone would pay for it, price it at what it’s worth, and then some.

“Shiny, how long will this commission take?”

Excellent question. Not to be blunt, but, be prepared to wait. I plan to spend most of my free time working on commissions, but the problem is that the amount of free time I have changes every week. I’m a college graduate fresh out of the oven, and most of my time right now is being spent working as much as I can at the minimum wage job I currently have, and the rest of my time is being spent building my way up to getting the job that I want.

TL;DR: I’m a busy bee.

I don’t say all this to make excuses, I’m sharing this in hopes that if/when I take a little while to complete your commission, you might have mercy on me 🙏🏻 I promise your commission WILL be a priority for me, it just can’t be the top priority at all times. Thank you for understanding!

✏️ I don’t have an example of a solid background with no shapes, but I think it’s pretty self explanatory. You can pick the color and the shape too, btw.

✏️ Shading may vary. If I think the piece needs it, I might add a few simple shadows. No extra charge! Whee! 🎉

✏️ Please bring me some reference images! Even if im not designing a character from scratch for you, reference images are essential! The more the better, but I need something to work from other than a paragraph describing the character/ship. Also, if you want me to match a source material’s style, I might be able to manage it, but I make no guarantees. Some styles are easier than others. Steven Universe: easy. DC Comics: hard. I’ll let you know right off the bat if a certain style isn’t doable for me.

Also, style replication comes at no extra charge! Whoopee! 🎉

✏️ “x 1.5 price” means that I add half the cost of the original price for each additional character. Example: a full color bust of one character is $50. For a full color bust of two characters, I divide the original price in half ($25) and add that back to the total. So, a full color bust of two characters would be $75.

For three or more characters, I add half of the original price for each character. That would mean that a full color bust of three characters would cost $100, four characters would cost $125, and so on and so forth.

The price of backgrounds is not impacted by the number of characters. These prices will always stay the same.

✏️ If I multiply the price and it comes out to a number with a decimal in it, I’ll just round it down to make things easier on both of us (plus I feel like a miser asking someone to pay me “something something and thirty cents” like jeez)
