“June dear, it’s important we stay focused, one minor lapse in focus can cause many problems for us in the near future. Remember, we want to get this job finished in time for dinner.”
Despite her words, she is unable to stop a small smile from forming on her face as June drops the book into her hands. Though she doesn’t fully divert her attention from the doorway, she starts flicking through the pages. This side of Bonnie is something few people seldom see, yet in this moment the soft spot she has for her daughter is clearly evident. After all, had it been another one of The Commission’s assassins she would’ve been quick to harshly reprimand and scold them had they done anything similar.
Abruptly she stops turning the pages of the book before pointing at a section of the story.
“And if I recall correctly, this was one of your favourite parts of this book. You never really seemed to get tired of it. Or at least not that I could ever tell.”
For a brief moment she returns to slowly flipping through the pages, June at her shoulder. From an outside perspective, this scene appears innocent, sweet; a mother and daughter reminiscing on times gone by. Not many would expect the danger lurking just below the surface. Looking up from the book, her eyes dart towards the doorway, sure to keep an eye and ear out for their target as they speak.
@the-commissions-deadliest ( for bonnie! )
they were waiting to ambush someone. lounging in his home like it were some sort of surprise party. june mindlessly went through his bookshelf while bonnie listened for the door, a smirk on her face while she flipped through a book.
a dangerous pair. a mother and daughter duo that could take down many without breaking a sweat. but what was the fun in going alone? sometimes quality time was spent in.. different ways.
" didn't you used to read this to me at night? " june mused, walking over to put the book in her hands, resting her head on her shoulder.

Her eyes move with a subtle flicker as she quickly takes in her surroundings; an attempt to assess the overall situation. Why this stranger feels so entitled to her personal life is beyond her, but at the end of the day Cha-Cha doesn’t have the time to deal with someone intent on playing a game of interrogation.
“I don’t see how that’s any of your damn business, hell I don't even know who you are."
It’s evident she’s not planning on budging anytime soon. She’s clearly growing more irritated as time passes; there’s an underlying threat to her words as what little patience she has for the situation is growing thin. Eyes narrowed, she takes a step back.
“And if I were you, I’d stop trying to stick my nose where it doesn't belong.”
Tumblr media
❝ What are you here for? ❞
She didn't know him? He hopes it's the case but he has to make sure. Ironically, it's what would probably get him further involved but he'd blame the mundanity of his current life for his lapse in judgment.
❝ I won't repeat myself again; What are you here for? ❞

“How sweet; you sure know how to flatter a lady. What a surprise no one’s snatched you up yet.”
It’s almost mocking the way she approaches him so casually, the way her lips curve upwards in a smile as she speaks to him as if they were old friends. Unwavering, her gaze remains fixed on Five as she searches for some kind of tell as to what his next move is going to be. Their past interactions had often been something akin to a tense game of chess as each person fought to stay three steps ahead of their opponent. And she wasn't about to let him step ahead of her.
“Worried? Of course not.”
Though of course she didn’t come to this encounter unarmed, no she wasn’t defenceless. However, fighting wasn’t exactly her current intention. No, at this point in time it was more about poking and prodding him to gauge his reaction. After all, it had been quite a while since she’d seen him and things were different now. Time passes, people change and it’s more than likely this little game of theirs would now require a different strategy.
“There’s no reason to worry if you plan on playing nice.”
Tumblr media
❝ I just can't help how SOFT I get when it comes to you. ❞
There's a light trace of snark, but it lacks the heat of his youth when he'd been so hopeful and naive. He's older now, and while every nerve in him willed him to PANIC, he keeps his face neutral.
❝ You're as PRETTY as ever. Do I need to be worried? ❞
He's quick to be SWEET, wanting to gain some sort of understanding before he has to jam his ballpoint pen in her skull.

“Disappointed? You said it not me. I mean, my own daughter standing in my way, after all that I’ve done for her? A shame really.”
Stepping out of the shadows and into the light with a condescending click of her tongue, her gaze remains fixed on the woman who opposed her. Unflinchingly cold, she’s a picture of sinisterness and elegance all wrapped into one. For a moment silence hangs heavy in the air, broken only by piercing sound of her heels hitting the floor beneath her as she continues walking towards Lila.
“I’ve come to expect this kind of behaviour from some but you? Well Lila darling I thought you were better than this. But by all means go ahead, continue with this little tantrum of yours.”
There’s a kind of dismissiveness to her words as she comes to a stop in front of her daughter. The control she once had beginning to slip through her fingers like grains of sand yet this doesn’t deter her in any way. No, instead it only fuels her determination to regain full control and ensure she stays at the top, in power, where she belongs.
Concealed by her dress, a small revolver sits in a holster strapped to her leg; the feeling of it against her skin serving as a reminder of what she was willing to do to those who stood who stood in her way. Though in this case? That sure would be quite a pity, certainly not the route she wants to take at this moment in time.
“It’s unfortunate that you’ve tricked yourself into believing all that he told you but it doesn’t have to be this way my dear.”

@etoilebleu (Starter for Lucinda & June!)
“13th of July 1988. Good to know this briefcase of ours sent us to the right time, I’m just waiting for the day this little bastard screws up and sends me way off course.”
A joke, followed by a soft, cheery laugh as she drew back from the newspaper box she had been peering into. Fingers curled tightly around the handle of said black briefcase she took in her surroundings, as if searching for something. It’s dark, late at night; a time in which Lucy has always felt most at home.
“Looks like we’re heading that way!” pointing down the street with her free hand towards a flickering neon motel sign mere blocks away from where they stood. She turned her gaze towards her companion standing beside her, a grin painted on her face; a majority of the time Lucy was paired with new hires for jobs like this, effectively forcing her into a mentor role she didn’t exactly ask for. Thus, she’s more than happy to be out on a job with someone strong, experienced and capable; someone like June. Hell, the joy of good company even outweighed the extra pressure added as a result of working with her superior’s daughter.
“Let’s hurry up and get ourselves checked in so we can find a place to eat, I’m starv-“ she abruptly cuts herself off, realising that she was one again making assumptions. Starting her walk down the street, the grin remained on her face as she quickly continued, “That is, if you want to have a good time and join me for dinner. Otherwise, feel free to stay in the motel all by yourself.”

Cigarette in hand, The Handler stood just to the right of the doorway. Frankly, she didn’t for one minute believe Lila’s words regarding her plans to clean up, and she wasn’t about to allow her own daughter to become lazy or complacent. Venturing further into the room, she came to a stop where the now dead man laid.
“If you weren’t so messy with your work than cleanup wouldn’t be such a pain, simple as that Lila darling.”
As she bought the cigarette up to her lips her gaze drifted down towards the corpse. Now standing amongst the blood stains on the carpet, she inhaled, using her foot to nudge the dead man’s head as if inspecting it. She does so in a way that is almost eerily nonchalant, reminiscent of how an average person might nudge something like a rock or piece of rubbish out of their path. Exhaling, she looked towards the doorway where her daughter stood.
“Don’t be ridiculous. Of course I do. But as your mother I just want to help make sure you’re being the best that you can be.”
Evidently, she wasn’t at all bothered by Lila’s frustration, instead she spoke in a way that was almost dismissive of it. Her lips curved upwards in a smile as she gestured towards the body with her empty hand in a way that says ‘well, what are you waiting for?’.

Irritated she had botched the shot; Cha-Cha tightens her grip on the pistol in her hand, her facial expression remaining unchanged despite the frustration.
“You don’t sound surprised.”
Lowering the gun ever so slightly, she peers over the top of it. Reminiscent of a lioness circling her prey her gaze remains fixed on the now bleeding Five. Though she no longer has the element of surprise it’s clear she’s still in attack mode, prepared to pull the trigger at any moment.
“Which means you know you’ve done something to piss her off.”
Though admittedly Cha-Cha can’t exactly say their superior has been all too pleased with her as off late either. Her recent blunders had left her in a risky situation in which one wrong move could result in her being on the termination list herself, failure just wasn’t an option this time around.

The sound of footsteps close behind her causes Cha-Cha to abruptly stop her brisk walk down the secluded street. With a subtle eyeroll she looks over her shoulder, glancing at the figure behind her.
“If you’re trying to follow me, you’re doing a shit job being subtle about it.”
She turns to properly face him; her first instinct is to reach for any kind of weapon she can get her hands on, under the assumption that this interaction would end in a fight of some description.
Her gaze remains fixed on him as she refuses to look away and give him the upper hand. There’s a brief beat of silence as she looks him up and down.
“Just cut the crap and tell me what the hell it is you want.”
It’s quite clearly not a request but a demand.

“Hello Five, it’s been a while.”
There’s an air of nonchalance to her as she steps out of the shadows and into the light; as per usual there’s not a hair out of place. Her face is adorned with the scars of their previous encounters, an ever-present reminder of the times he had won their little game yet she smiles as she approaches him.
Coming to a stop in front of him she leans in close to mock whisper, “Did you miss me?"  Drawing back, she clasps her hands together; there’s truly no tell as to what her true intentions are here.
“Such a warm welcome, how unlike you,” she laughs for a moment. It's quite a difference from the hostility she had come to expect from him. While the hostility never bothered her, The Handler couldn't help but find this almost amusing to some degree.
“Don’t tell me you’ve gone soft after all this time.”

@thenightmareofyourdrems sent 'you didn't hear a word of what i just said, did you?' (Lila to The Handler)
Tumblr media
“Hm?”
She had been too involved in her own doings to give Lila her full attention; she looks up from where she sits at her desk, cigarette in one hand. Exhaling, The Handler glances towards the doorway where her daughter stands, “Lila darling, I didn’t expect you to be back so soon! That little job of yours go well?”
Extinguishing the cigarette in a nearby ash tray, she proceeds to swiftly scoop up the files in front of her and shove them away in the bottom draw of the desk. Completely ignoring any hints of irritation in Lila’s voice, she waits for the her to enter the office, gesturing towards the chair opposite her. It's the kind of gesture that says come, sit; more a demand as opposed to an invitation.
“Now, what is it you wanted?”

Her gaze drifted towards the bracelet around Lila’s wrist, lingering for a moment. The fact she continued to wear it held implications that The Handler wasn’t at all pleased with; implications that she refused to ignore.
“I see you continue to wear that bracelet."
She gestured towards it as she held eye contact with her daughter, scoffing before continuing, "Come now, you can't actually be starting to care for him."
Lila could claim she’s holding onto that piece of jewellery as a trophy all she wanted but The Handler knew better.
“Lila darling, don’t tell me you’re going soft. You’re better than this.”

why the long face ? (from Jo @accordedxneutralxterritory for any)
Tumblr media
Cha-Cha promptly rolls her eyes in response. Placing her cup of coffee down on the table in front of her, she turns her head in Jo’s direction. She had come here for some coffee and a moment of quiet, a moment to deal with some shit before moving onto her next job. But of course, that isn’t going to happen now, is it?
Yes, maybe something is actually bothering her. Maybe it’s the fact Hazel had so easily betrayed her to run off with that bitch from the doughnut shop. Or maybe it’s the fact she is currently on such thin ice with her superior at The Commission that one wrong move could land her on the termination list.
Regardless, Cha-Cha’s never been a particularly emotionally available person and frankly she would rather do anything else than talk about it. So instead, she responds in a more snarky fashion.
“I don’t see how that’s any of your business.”

She shakes his hand with satisfaction; another win for her in this twisted game they so often played.
Once again she had been able to weaponize his own desperation against him, using it to draw him back to her. Just as she’d done their first meeting in the apocalypse, biding her time until he was lonely and desperate enough to be enticed by her offer.
She keeps a tight grip on his hand for just a moment longer than necessary; a subtle display of power, a reminder of who exactly was in control here.
“Good choice.”
She withdrew her hand before clasping both hands together in front of her. A soft chuckle escapes her lips as she gazes down at him.
“I can assure you the answer to that question isn’t one you’ll be pleased to hear.”
And not a piece of information she’d be willing to give up so easily.
“You truly believe you’re able to stop what’s to come?”

"Funny how the universe keeps throwing us together, huh? Almost like a sick joke." ( cha-cha )
Tumblr media
“If this is the universe’s idea of a joke I’m definitely not laughing.”
Tucked away in the corner of a random diner in the early hours of the morning, Cha-Cha had made the assumption this would be the perfect place for a moment of quiet. However, it quickly became evident that this wasn’t the case as she once again came face to face with one of the last people she wanted to see.
Despite the fact Five was no longer any of her concern, the universe seemed intent on making sure that they both ended up in the same area in the same time. It was a frustrating and constant reminder of her past failures; a reminder of the assignment that had destroyed everything she’d worked for over the years, including her partnership with Hazel.
In fact, her superior wasn’t too pleased about how that job went down and ultimately decided that Cha-Cha was no longer needed at The Commission. It was either escape or allow them to dispose of her and so she ran. She can’t help but wonder about the futility of this decision; after all she said it herself, they always get you in the end.  Though of course she wasn’t going to tell him any of this, truly the last thing she needed right now was this little shit antagonising her.
She shifts in her seat, turning to properly face him. If one thing’s clear it’s that she’s in no way happy to see him and frankly, if it’s a fight he’s looking for then she’s more than willing to give him one.
“Now what the hell do you want? Or can I drink this damn coffee in peace?”
