Hello I am eepy but last night my brain decided I should make another galemancer, this time a half-tiefling Changeling, Cleric of Mystra, so I spent the day designing her natural form and her default disguise (seen here).

Haven't figured out her outfits yet but I managed to take some cute glasses I found on sketchfab and port them over with surprisingly not too much hassle?

And then I started looking into making a custom shape change (the screenshot you see here is a separate save I made to figure out her tiefling design, but in her actual save file she's a Changeling) so she can disguise herself as a tiefling. Currently I've got the spell showing up in the container & doing all the effects and whatnot... but her visuals aren't changing at all. I started off following Munnmo's guide on custom Tav stuff for their Ring of Metamorph mod bc I figured it's probably not that different from making a custom thing for Trips' Changelings, but it seems like the latter requires a bit more than the former.

But like I said, I'm sleepy so I'll just come back to it tomorrow.

P.S. That hair is from eeldritchblast's Frosty Hairs 2 (found on their patreon where their username is tepkunset), and the horns are from Horns of Faerun (by Aloija on Nexus Mods). I do not remember the name of the person who made the glasses off-hand but it is called "Glasses 09" and is on sketchfab. Hopefully tomorrow I'll edit this with proper links and whatnot.

It was really fighting me for that last stretch but I got it done. "Shel's Circle of Artifice" should work on any race/body, and you can dye it.

Finished Itheel's hair and even did the princess version (granted that was a bit more simple) Also, how the hell do y'all post nice looking gifs on here???? Trying to get these things down to 10mb or less was rough...

Since labotor posted the fairy race mod yesterday and I had to scramble to update the THS custom races patch bc I COMPLETELY forgot I said I'd add lab's fairy race to it I wanted to make my half-fairy half-dragon oc Itheel... and then I went and started making her hair because nothing was close enough.

I realized Isobel's hair is actually pretty close, just need to add the bangs (which currently are edited from Qelira's hair, and I got the bangs for Qelira from Gortash's hair) and the braids (from Lae'zel of course).

This is just the first in-game test; it obviously still needs some work, but the fact that everything is pretty much functioning as it should on the first test is nice. I've come a long way from spending days just trying to get the mesh to show up at all!

Now that Padme's bangs mod is out, I might also work on a version of my hair extensions mod that uses bangs & other parts from my OC hairs (because the closest we have to anime bangs in vanilla is from Ballerina Buns, which *is* in Padme's mod, and Gortash's which I'm surprised isn't in her mod). It will be a separate mod from KHE, though I'll probably call it "Kay's Hair Extensions - Custom Version". I still need to work on the helmet hair version as well (the helmet hairs are NOT autosnap, and I haven't decided how to go about dealing with it.

Also, no Qelira's outfit isn't done; editing the dye masks is proving to be a pain in the ass because for SOME reason (I think the shader has something to do with it, the bg3 equipment generator defaults to using CHAR_BASE_AlphaTest on all the textures and when I changed it to CHAR_BASE the way it interpreted the dye mask colors changed) the game can't tell the difference the primary/secondsry/teriary colors (no matter what shade of blue/purple I use, it reads as leather secondary), and like, I'll use a color channel dye to help see what color it's actually taking, and it's got separate dyes for cloth/leather/metal/other/custom, where when you dye the item Red is primary, green is secondary, blue is tertiary, and everything else is black. Well, I'll use the leather dye & some parts are green, and others are yellow???? And even aside from the color frustration, I would like for the coat to have physics but getting the waist area to cooperate is not going well. Clothing in general just seems more complex than hair ._.

My first real foray into "armor" modding and it's going a LOT better than I thought... aside from the fuckin shirt collar

Though I wasn't sure I wanted to use that shirt even before I looked at it in game.

Colors are also up in the air, I just kinda default to black & gold bc it suits pretty much anyone imo (I need to edit the textures and stuff though to make everything look more unified)

I had wanted to release my hair mod on Nexus yesterday... but then the patch happened. And I'm probably waiting a couple days before updating, so releasing the hair mod will have to wait...

In the meantime, I started on another hair! This is based on my sona, The Horologian. I originally was trying to go for a soft gradient but was having a hard time getting that. I played around with some settings, & even though this isn't what I was going for, I think it looks better than what I imagined so I'm keeping it.

A couple weeks ago I decided to revamp an old OC that I never did much with into a bg3 OC and I just keep having Thoughts™

Okay so Veil was original just the result of me playing around in the Mii maker on my DS back in middle or high school, and later in high school I was like "they're a demigod with amnesia" but didn't have much else for her.

But now I've decided that in bg3 she's Mystra's Half-Elf daughter who traveled around studying all kinds of magic & doing all kinds of magical experiments. "Veil" was a nickname, as she always said "I aim to lift the veil of mystery from the Weave". She was always on rocky terms with Mystra and far too curious for her own good (nearly to the point of hubris).

I haven't decided on the details yet, but one day an experiment with psychic spells goes wrong and she's left with no memory of herself beyond the vague recollection of being called "Veil".

She happened to be in Waterdeep at the time, and again I haven't figured out the specifics yet, but a young Gale Dekarios takes her in and helps her relearn magic (Gale suspects her to be a sorcerer when she takes to it so quickly, but they both end up coming to the conclusion that it's part Elven ancestry, part muscle memory & that she must have been a wizard prior to her amnesia). Although she seems to have a knack for all schools of magic, Veil settles on divination as her specialty.

When Gale becomes Mystra's Chosen, Veil is... well, she has mixed feelings. She knows that it's a great honor, and she's learned plenty from Gale (and his books) about Mystra, but a part of her is very wary. She writes it off as envy, though she doesn't think about *who* she's envious of: Gale for being Chosen, or Mystra for having Gale's attention & admiration.

Of course, her wariness turns into disdain toward Mystra when Gale spends far more time with her in the Astral Plane than in Faerûn, drawing him away from not only Veil but everyone else in his life as well. She tries to keep in contact with him, but a mixture of Gale being too preoccupied & Mystra herself holding some disdain toward her daughter, it proves difficult and she eventually stops trying.

At some point, Veil ends up becoming a professor at Blackstaff.

I keep going back & forth on whether or not she finds out she's Mystra's daughter before or during the game.

Years later, when Veil hears about Gale's fall from grace, she tries reaching out to him again but doesn't get a response. She's worried, but she leaves him be and resists the temptation to essentially spy on him with her magic. He left her behind and she moved on with her life. No use upending her current life over him...

...and then the Nautiloid happens. Veil was on Sabbatical and traveling around Faerûn when she was abducted by the mindflayer ship.

And then after the ship crashes and she finds that portal Gale is stuck in.

Before pulling him out, she thinks "that voice sounds a lot like Gale... nevermind, it's probably just my imagination."

She pulls him out, and she cannot believe her eyes.

"Hello, I'm-"

"Gale Dekarios.... what in the Nine Hells are you doing here."

And of course, he's shocked to see her as well.

And they've both changed a lot. They've both aged (granted Veil slightly less so), Veil's hair is shorter while Gale's is longer and he's no longer clean shaven (Veil shoves down the thought that it's a good look for him).

Gale tries to go on introducing himself to the rest of the group, but Veil chews him out.

"If you think you can act like *nothing* happened, like you didn't drop off the face of Toril for years and we can just pick up as good old friends, you are *sorely* mistaken."

I can't remember the exact context beyond it being about his year in isolation, but I remember thinking about her saying "At one point, I would've done *anything* for you, Gale. I would've trudged through the hells, would've fought Mystra herself if you asked it of me. You could have asked for help, but you pushed me... pushed *everyone* away."

Part of my hesitancy to talk about Veil sooner is because part of me thinks it's kinda weird to ship two people with very similar sounding names. Not even in a "this is like borderline creepy" just me thinking how it would feel weird to me if my s/o's name rhymed with mine lol, but I also don't want to change Veil's name because 1) that's been her name since I since made her like at least a decade ago & 2) it just fits her so much more in the context of being Mystra's daughter! But I do intend to come up with a "birth name" for her and have "Veil" as a nickname that kinda just *became* her name after the accident.

I also kinda made Veil & Gale in the Sims with the idea that they're both magic professors. Mostly inspired by college AU stuff, but I like teacher/teacher more than teacher/student (in part bc I'm just a coward but also I just like the idea of them both being professors & maybe some students deciding to meddle/play wingman).

In the Magic College AU (which I imagine is basically still Faerûn just in a more modern setting), Veil doesn't have amnesia & she meets Gale while they're both students, but after graduation he becomes Mystra's Chosen & they drift apart. It isn't until years later, after Mystra basically abandons him that he ends up accepting a teaching position at the university with the intention of using the university's resources to find the missing piece of Weave. But it turns out Veil is also a professor and she's reluctant to interact with him but can't really avoid it so. Slow burn! And also here she's able to prevent him from finding the Netherese Orb and whatnot.

AND I started thinking about a second college AU but without magic (a more classic modern college au basically), partially inspired by this fic series (which is a professor x student thing but is still inspiration nonetheless). Gale teaches theoretical physics while Veil teaches folklore & mythology. Still keeping that they were students together, but in this case Gale got an internship with Veil's estranged mother's grad program or company or something & then after Mystra ends her little affair with Gale he does something stupid to try to win her back but it ends up all but ruining his professional reputation & he ends up begrudgingly accepting a teaching position at the university because that's basically the only job related to his field that will hire him. Here, in this AU, Gale & Veil have more of a rivals to lovers thing (science versus humanities, woo!).

So... yeah.

Shel's first impressions of the origin companions

Note that she doesn't really respect any of them & absolutely looks down on all of them. She's an aasimar artificer with a superiority complex.

Lae'zel: Weird but interesting. Shel does not appreciate being lumped in with the inferiors (the wyvern bowing to worms line when you ask her to say thank you comes to mind). Probably the closest to getting any semblance of respect out of Shel though (at least at first)

Shadowheart: Shel did NOT save her from the pod. Thinks her pounding on the ruin door is stupid but Shadowheart at least talks & fights smarter than that decision. Basically, Shadowheart is an edgy adolescent. Has potential though (even if she is half human)

Astarion: Bro did you really think she was gonna fall for that. Really. You get points for trying though. She does immediately clock him as a vampire though, so his being in the sunlight is VERY interesting. Will need further observation.

Gale: First though upon his introduction was "Oh I can manipulate you". She's heard of Mystra's formerly beloved Chosen, & she knows wizards. She's ready make this man her bitch.

Wyll: Goody two-shoes who isn't worth her time... though she is curious about his "informant". She could potentially manipulate him.

Karlach: Disappointed that Karlach isn't the menacing devil she was chalked up to be, however Shel is VERY interested in that infernal engine.

I just keep thinking about tieflings (specifically my bg3 self insert but also tiefs in general) tails kinda portraying their emotions

Like, of course there's the "idle" we see in game: full tail movement but gentle & small motions

For all intents & purposes, the following is just my headcanon for Kay The Horologian, also it's inspired by cats bc I have 2 cats and their tails can be fun to watch lol

Full tail movement in a large but gentle sweeping motion (basically like the idle but a bigger motion) is contentment. They're feeling happy, at peace, etc. A long, sweet kiss from their lover can prompt it.

Movement primarily in the lower half of the tail, kind of a flicking motion that pauses & can vary in breadth: irritated, itching for a fight, trying to hold back anger. Just seeing Kagha prompts this in Kay. I imagine this is what Karlach's tail was doing doing during the Gortash coronation too lol

Movement mostly relegated to the tip of the tail, a quick flicking motion. Horny. Flicking gets more aggressive & staccato when trying to hold back or hide it.

Tail is dead weight when asleep. If you pick it up & let it fall, it drops like a rock. HOWEVER, if it kinda floats back down, they're not fully asleep. Beware, because Kay hates it when people touch their tail (unless you're Gale, then it's fine & maybe even encouraged on occasion).

Normally if you touch Kay's tail without permission, it startles them so they jump & maybe make a sound somewhere between a yelp and a squeal. And they will hate you for at least the remainder of the day. Kay is big on personal space... unless you're their s/o (Gale), in which case they're clingy as hell. Physical contact from friends is usually okay but they prefer to have some forewarning first (like "hey can I hug you" or whatever).

Idk, I've been reading a bunch of Gale x Tav fics & I wish there were some with tiefling Tavs. I've seen like, one. I really wish I had the motivation & ideas to write my own fics lol
