“I really appreciate this, seriously, I know you are used to working with bigger cats which I doubt require house calls,” Emrys said in greeting as he opened the door of his apartment to the vet. King had an array of health problems which required frequent vet trips. However, with Emrys placing himself under house arrest he was unable to take his cat to the vet. “He’s through here, he’s breathing became laboured last night. It sounds like his asthma,” As he spoke Emrys led Sushim through to the living area where King laid curled up the sofa. Emrys was usually rather put together, but it was clear his brother’s death along with concern for his beloved King had taken its toll. “I was planning on staying at my family home for a while, but I don’t want to risk moving King without getting the okay first.” @sushkxr-khxtri

She returned his smile just as weakly as she surveyed the wound. It was going to hurt no matter what the woman did to remove it. They just had to figure out how to make it hurt the least. “I have a mild concussion. I fucking forgot what that felt like. Not fun,” Mallory muttered, resting her hand on his arm. “You’re the first one I’ve seen.”
Tumblr media
“Clearly you need to get some better opponents at the Sanctuary,” Emrys replied watching his sister. He felt like he could almost see the thoughts running through her head as she studied his wound. Emrys could tell she was trying to decide the best way to pull it out. “Just yank it out, the longer it’s in the more blood I’ll lose, better to just get the healing going. Just angle it to the right when you give it a pull. Less chance of it snagging my heart.” Emrys hated not knowing where or how his siblings were, but perhaps Mallory not seeing them was a good thing. They might not be trapped.

The wolf couldn’t help but keep a close eye on the male in case he tried to throw something else in a direction she stood in and had to act quick with a fast leap out of the way. “Well, you’re not doing the best of jobs at it.” She quipped with a shrug of her shoulder since he didn’t seem too calm and collected.
With her fingers, the blonde pushed her hair behind her ear and shrugged slightly. “This would be the time I would normally excuse myself since you seem to want to be alone but I’m kind of scared about what you’re going to do next since you’re oh-so calm.”
Tumblr media
“I’m sorry, but have we met?” Emrys asked, in a tone and attitude that was very unlike himself. In normal circumstances, he’d be nothing but friendly and kind towards the blonde. He’d most likely flirt with her as well. “It’s just, you’re certainly acting like you know me when I’m pretty sure you know nothing about me.” Being a Bordeaux most people made presumptions about Emrys, and his siblings. It wasn’t something that bothered Emrys usually, but right now he couldn’t help but feel pissed off. The irony that he was been presumptuous about her being presumptuous completely going over his head.

It wasn’t part of her job, of course. But over the years, Naomi had grown closer to the Bordeaux family. And she knew that none of them were currently in a position to check on each other as much as they would have liked. Each was dealing with Noah’s death in their own ways. Naomi had done her best with Mallory, and now it was Emrys’ turn. He had saved her not so long ago, after all. Now it was her turn to do something to return the favour.
Her knock on the door had gone unanswered, not that Naomi had been surprised. What had surprised her though was that the door was unlocked, a fact which she took advantage of when she heard the large crashing from within.
In a few quick strides she entered, locating Emrys. A hand on his shoulder was all it took for him to turn, pulling her close. Naomi inhaled sharply, but didn’t pull away and didn’t tense. She wrapped her arms around him instead, almost as tightly as he held her. “I’m sorry,” she whispered. “The door was unlocked though, so I just–” She had come in.
Tumblr media
Emrys stood there for a few moments allowing his friend to give him some much-needed comfort. Face hidden in her shoulder he allowed some tears to fall, no doubt soaking into her jacket. It wasn’t good for Emrys to be alone with his thoughts, they tended to spiral out of control and Emrys would soon fall in a black hole of despair, grief, and anger. Having someone else with him certainly helped him from falling down the rabbit hole of shitty feelings.
Breaking away from her as she spoke Emrys shook his head, dragging his arm across his face to wipe away at tears. “Don’t be silly. You’re always welcome here, and I’m glad you came. Thank you.” He shot her a brief smile, one that didn’t reach his eyes.

It was with no little relief that Naomi recognized the man who had hurried to her side as Emrys. Her fear abated a bit, even if her would-be assailant did not immediately back down. Still, it wouldn’t matter. Unless the man had some fearsome tricks up his sleeve, she’d be safe with the Bordeaux.
“Yes,” she said faintly. She frowned at herself and cleared her throat. Her hand reached out and brushed Emrys’ arm in a touch of reassurance. “I’m fine. Thank you.”
Tumblr media
Feeling Naomi’s touch on his arm Emrys reached out for her hand and gave it a quick squeeze, keeping ahold of her hand in his. It was a friendly gesture, a physical reminder that he had her back. He didn’t reply, his focus still on the other man. Just like with wolves and dogs it was an alpha thing. Emrys wouldn’t drop eye contact until the other did, letting him know that Emrys was not going to back down. When the need arose Emrys could look rather terrifying, his eyes seemed to darken as he continued the stare down Naomi’s almost assailant.
“You sure you okay?” Emrys asked as the man finally backed down, turning around and walking away. Turning to face Naomi his features soften, the darkness in his eyes fading as he smiled kindly at his friend. “Where were you heading? I’ll walk you.”

With New York City in constant turmoil and the New Year’s tragedy looming over everyone’s heads, Madeline and Emrys both agreed BITE had to take action. As a sign of hope, at the very least, a 24 hour danceathon was the only way to go in Madeline’s opinion – fun, active, and an opportunity to get the community out of their heads. “I told you it was a good idea.” She smiled her bright features on full display, until a realization she was dying to keep at bay came over her. “He would’ve hated this. Noah. Especially when I inevitably forced him to dance with me.”
Tumblr media
Emrys appreciated Madeline coming to him, and he was in complete agreement that a charity event was the perfect thing to raise people’s spirits. And show the Ouroboros that they may have taken Noah’s life but they hadn’t won. That, and it served the perfect distraction. He still didn’t dare leave the house, and although Emrys knew he wasn’t ready he had begun to get rather restless. A small laugh escaped the vampire in response, not that it contained any real mirth. “Strangely, the fact that Noah would have hated it makes the idea even more perfect. And I’m sure, despite the complaining, he didn’t mind dancing with you that much.”

Out of the Bordeaux family, Calypso was only really close to a few, such as Mallory.. and Noah. But his passing was something that urged Calypso to do her best. To support the family with a feeling she was all too familiar with: Mourning a sibling. It was something she wished to bestow on no one. Yet even the mightiest family suffered this terrible tragedy.
Walking through the hallways of the Bordeaux residence, she searched for the next sibling to check up on. It wasn’t her task to do so, but she wanted to. And if they wished her to leave, she would. Such was their right. But when she entered the room Emrys was in, she halted at the sight of him heaving, throwing an armchair against the wall, bestowing it onto the floor into  hundreds of pieces. It should’ve been a sign for her to leave. He was clearly stronger than her, definitely in her current shape, yet the huntress moved forwards, carefully placing her hand upon his shoulder.
“Emrys?” Calypso carefully asked, what she wasn’t prepared for was his sudden rising and turning towards her. With her speed gone, she only managed to reach for her dagger halfway through before she was held in a firm grip – an embrace.
Her heart was pounding, still processing what was happening until she gave him what he needed and returned the hug. It was close to a maternal embrace. One hand on his back and the other moving through his hair, gently moving digits through dark locks. Dark hues closed, trying hard to keep herself steady for it only brought back the bad memories. He had no need for a crying mess, and she was there to provide what he needed the most.
Having something physical to hold onto helped ground Emrys. Helped him calm down and regain control over his anger. A temper wasn’t something Emrys was usually afflicted with, which is perhaps why when he did get angry he had no control over his rage - even after an eternity to learn.
Grief was never something Emrys had dealt with well. It would always make him act rash and out of character. Which is why he needed people to rally around him now more than ever.
He stood in Cal’s embrace listening to her heartbeat. It wasn’t because he was thirsting for her blood, but because the regular beat was soothing. It had started off quite fast but had seemed to slow down. It soon became the loudest noise in the room to the original vampire who matched his own breathing to hers. Emrys didn’t need to breath, but it helped. Not only to calm him down but it was a reminder. A reminder that although he had lost a brother he was still living.
Eventually pulling away from Calypso he gave her a weak smile, one that did nothing to cover up the sadness in his eyes. “Sorry, Cal. I didn’t mean to... attack you like that. I just...” Emrys trailed off, not really knowing what he was going to say. He just what? Needed the physical comfort? Wanted to hide his tears? Perhaps he just needed someone to stop him from doing any more damage. Or perhaps it just helped to be close to someone who Noah had liked.
The meowing of a cat brought him out of his thoughts, glancing down he saw Duchess rubbing her head against his leg. “Thank you,” He commented finally, returning his gaze to Calypso.

“Stop!” The brunette stated as she moved over quickly enough that the sharps from the chair didn’t hit her in the face. While she knew that people were angry and mourning about the situation that had occurred, people had to come together to help. These actions wouldn’t do anyone any good, especially since they were all going through the same thing. Everyone she knew had lost people or had been injured in the damn accident.
“You need to keep it together. You can’t act out like this. It’s okay to cry or yell, but you can’t be the cause of more damage.” She told him with a pointed gaze. “Though if you need to talk — which I think is a smart think that you should be doing. I’m here for you.”
Tumblr media
A lecture was the last thing Emrys needed right now. He knew her words were coming from a place of well-meaning, but he wasn’t going to apologise for how he dealt with his own grief. Something the werewolf stood in front of him could never understand, who could possibly understand losing someone after knowing them for over 1000 years.
“The smart thing was smashing that armchair rather than ripping into someone’s neck,” Emrys retorted. The aggressive words out of character for Emrys, at least the Emrys that stood now. Go back a few centuries and that was exactly who Emrys was. “This is me keeping it together,” He added, a slight hiss to his tone. Emrys had never dealt well with loss, and this was genuinely him keeping it together.

Mallory made her way towards her brother despite the extreme sense of nausea she was experiencing. She didn’t have to have to be a genius to know this was the Ouroboros’ doing. Her head throbbed as she moved to her younger brother’s side through the smog and throngs of people. “Fucking hell, Em,” she hissed out.
Tumblr media
“You really know how to comfort a guy,” Emrys commented with a weak smile, not that he could blame his older sister for her response. He was pretty sure his reaction would be similar had he come across one of them with a large piece of wood sticking out his chest. “I tried pulling it out but every time I move it shifts. Didn’t want to risk it getting to my heart.” That wouldn’t kill him, but Emrys would be a lot worse off if he was unconscious. “Are you hurt? Have you found anyone else?” He trusted Mallory would know that by anyone he meant their siblings.

Emrys Bordeaux, 25/1000+, Original Vampire
BIOGRAPHY
TW: death, murder, addiction
Emrys’ parents chose a name of great power for their son. Being linked to the wizard Merlin they hoped it would guide him towards being a great witch. No one could have forseen just how apt the name would be. With the meaning immortal the name is rather fitting for a vampire who can never die. Not that this was ever the life that Emrys wanted for himself or any of his siblings. When the Tallis family first mentioned their plan Emrys was hesitant. He’d seen what dark magic could do having watched his childhood friend try and master it before it consumed and killed him. Despite his gut feeling Emrys agreed and stood with his siblings; grieved by the death of his youngest siblings Emrys wished to take action. Once the spell was complete Emrys soon wished he had listened to his instincts.
The spell made the Bordeaux siblings into something terrible, something born out of dark magic. Emrys hated what he and his siblings had become and as they discovered more about what they were the harder it became for the original vampire. Then he had his first taste of witches’ blood. It had always smelled differently, sweeter and more appealing, but from that first drop Emrys knew it tasted different as well. It was intoxicating, better than the blood of any human. It was as if he could taste the magic, and that magic flowed from their veins into his. Emrys have never felt so good, and he quickly fell into a destructive pattern.
It had been the only thing that had soothed his troubled mind, and Emrys wanted that feeling again. He became addicted to witch’s blood. Human blood satisfied his hunger but nothing else. Soon he stopped drinking human blood altogether, preferring to starve. Whilst many of his siblings went on to find their new place in the world Emrys only fell deeper and deeper. He began traveling the world hunting witches down, repeatedly killing what had once been his own kind. As his hunger grew so did his guilt, he hated himself for his actions but he couldn’t stop. Any remorse disappeared as soon as he fed. Emrys knew that his siblings would help if he asked, but Emrys wasn’t ready to face reality. He spent centuries avoiding them so they couldn’t see how far he had fallen.
Then Thaddeus came into his life, a vampire who had been turned by one his siblings. It didn’t take him long to realise the repetitive cycle of addiction that Emrys had gotten caught up in. He offered his help, but Emrys refused. Thaddeus was not to be deterred, however, and spent the next two centuries following Emrys around. He watched silently as Emrys killed witch after witch, he helped the original vampire clean up the messes his addiction caused. He waiting patiently until Emrys was ready to ask for his help, and his patience paid off. After eight hundred years of addiction Emrys was finally ready to ask for help.
It was a slow and painful process having to come to terms with everything he become and everything he had done. Emrys gave up many times, but Thaddeus was there for him every time. Thaddeus was Emrys’ rock, and his determination to help Emrys only pushed Emrys to keep going, to get clean. In time Emrys discovered that despite being a vampire he could still be a force of good. He had allowed negativity and fear to rule his decisions, but Emrys vowed no more. He began trying to have a more positive outlook on life; and with Thaddeus, someone he had come to love, it was made that much easier.
The biggest test for Emrys came a hundred years into his sobriety when Thaddeus was killed by a hunter. If Emrys had a beating heart he was sure it would have broken. The pain was almost unbearable, and Emrys longed to drink from a witch to dull it. Whilst the pain of Thaddeus’ death tempted him, it was the memory of him that kept Emrys strong. He knew exactly what the other vampire would say, and knew that he wouldn’t want his death to be a catalyst for Emrys. For the first time in centuries, Emrys looked for his siblings, his time spent with Thaddeus giving him the strength to ask for their forgiveness and their help.
When the Fitzpatrick’s were killed  Emrys was prepared, and for a month he didn’t go anywhere without one of his siblings who were the only ones capable of preventing him from killing another witch. He has never stopped trying to become a force of good and has won many awards for charity for himself and for BITE. Emrys knows that his addiction will most likely always be with him, but he accepted that it is a burden he must carry. He just wants to be strong enough to help his family fight their new foes, wanting to finally be able to help them and give back. Emrys can still struggle to be positive, and his positive words often resemble sarcasm more than anything else, but he’s trying. Emrys had learned to see the good in everything, including himself.
+ thoughtful, patient, generous, passionate – cautious, remorseful, reserved, self-loathing
HEADCANONS
Emrys loves cats and finds them fascinating. His apartment is always full of strays he’s taken in or rescue cats he’s fostered. There are two cats that are permanent occupants. One is an old Siberian cat who struggled to find a home due to his medical needs. Emrys fell in love with him straight away and was more than happy to adopt him. The second is a mixed breed cat he found as a kitten, the kitten immediately bonded with the vampire and Emrys knew the kitten would never leave. He’s named the older cat King and the younger one Duchess.
Whilst many of his siblings have come to forgive the Davenports over the centuries, or are at least on the path to forgiveness the same cannot be said for Emrys who still harbours a deep hatred for the original werewolves. Perhaps his addiction has meant that he hasn’t been able to deal with the seething whirlpool of negative emotions he has for them, or perhaps he’s simply just not ready to forgive. Everything bad that has happened can be traced back to that night. The night the Davenports killed their siblings. Emrys knows he’s responsible for his own actions since becoming a vampire, but it’s their actions that led to him becoming one.
Emrys can often come across as arrogant and vain, but this is a facade few get to see past. Social situations have never been easy for Emrys but they are made easier by acting cocky and flirtatious. Emrys will flirt with everyone, despite being gay.
Emrys’ biggest priority is his family, he knows that for most of their vampire existence he has been absent and is doing his best to build bridges. He’s finding it harder with some than others, especially those who have relationships with the Davenports. In the last hundred years Emrys has had to get to know them all over again. He knows he’s not there yet but Emrys hopes to become the supportive and considerate brother he was as a witch.
It has been two hundred years since Emrys last touched a drop of witch blood. He has begun regularly attending AA meetings, which he has found surprisingly useful. Emrys has to change some of the details, but with the similarities between alcohol addiction and his own he hasn’t had to change the important things. Being around witches still makes him anxious, and he does his best to avoid them.
Emrys does a lot of charity work, but more recently most of his efforts have been going into helping those affected by the Ouroboro’s actions. Knowing it was the original families that brought them here he can’t help but feel a little guilty.

Emrys had sat in the armchair for hours upon hours staring at the wall. He had so many emotions running through him trying to take precedence. Each emotion fighting the others inside of him left him catatonic... numb. As he sat in that armchair Emrys knew. He knew he was waiting for one emotion to overwhelm the others so he could feel something. The only thing that had kept him sane was King and Duchess. He was never left without one of them curled up and purring on his chest. It was as if they had decided between them to take shifts looking after him.
He had held it together... at first. Emrys’ need to help his siblings far outweighed any of his own body's demands. His brain had switched off his own emotions whilst he did whatever was needed from him. The moment he stepped through the doorway into his apartment was when it all came crashing down around him and Emrys found himself in his armchair. He didn’t dare leave the apartment, relying on his stash of blood bags to help him heal from his own ordeal.
Emrys knew. He knew that if left he would break. That he would drink from a witch and that he wouldn’t be able to stop.
Mallory had told him that Noah was meant to have found him first. That Emrys was supposed to be with him when Noah had gone after the second weapon. Emrys wasn’t sure how to feel. If he had been then than perhaps Noah wouldn’t be dead. At the same time, it was kind of touching, that Noah had wanted to protect him. Either that or the dead bastard was too cocky to think he needed any help.
A hoarse laugh escaped his lips as the thought crossed his mind, the first emotion to break through. Once the dam had been broken nothing could stop the other emotions from pouring out. Emrys fell to his knees, Duchess falling from his chest. His chest heaved from the sobs that wracked through his body. Emrys had felt loss before, and each time it had almost finished him. Noah couldn’t die though. None of them could. Their inability to die had left Emrys completely unprepared for this.
Everything had changed in one night and left Emrys completely broken.
A sudden surge of anger coursed through Emrys, turned around he threw his armchair against the wall watching as it smashed into a hundred pieces. Fists clenched his anger still raged. It was easier to feel this than any of the other emotions fighting to consume the vampire. At least it was until he felt the hand on his shoulder; grounding him back to reality. Turning towards them Emrys wrapped his arms around them in a tight embrace. Fearing that if he let go he might break apart just like the armchair.

“Emrys?” He sounded close, she’d seen him in the room earlier before…Before everything had just collapsed the way it had. If she got out of this alive, Gwen was going to find it funny that the first time she showed up to one of these things with a date, her luck ran out when it came to avoiding trouble. She’d have to tell Jonah-At the mere thought of him, she tried to heave herself into at least a more comfortable position in hopes she could dislodge where her arm was caught between two beams. The result was only the sound of more cracking bone, a sickening noise that had her wincing. Tears were falling from her eyes and she didn’t know if they were out of frustration or actual fear. Focus, focus you can do this. This is nothing. Blinking and looking through the smoke, trying to ignore the sound of everyone else, she called out again. “Over here!” His voice had sounded to her right but she couldn’t quite spot him. “I’m stuck but I’m…” Shifting again, she flexed her hands, tried to assess herself aside from the fact she couldn’t get free. “Alright. Can you move?” Blinking back what was left of her tears, she tried her best to focus solely on him. Maybe he could get them both out of this.
Tumblr media
He nodded slightly in response, despite the fact she couldn’t see him. “The one and only,” He said, forcing out a small chuckle. Emrys got a little worried when she didn’t reply straight away, especially when the sound of bone cracking reached his ears. You didn’t reach his age without recognising that sound. A genuine smile ghosted his lips when her voice reached him once more, followed by a feeling of helplessness knowing she needed his help but he couldn’t provide it. When Emrys had gotten clean he vowed to a better brother to his siblings, and that extended to the family the original vampires had made from themselves. Perhaps he should try moving again. Placing his palms down on the ground Emrys tried to push himself up, only to collapse back down a few seconds later gritting his teeth in pain. He knew if he’d tried again he only do himself more damage. He could feel the piece of wood in his chest move every time he did. “I... I can’t at the moment but I’m sure I just need a few moments.” Emrys didn’t like lying, but he hoped one of his siblings or friends would be along soon who could help them both. Emrys couldn’t physically help Gwen but he could give her hope and a distraction. “Who was that I saw you with earlier?” He asked, lightly teasing her. “If you could see me I’d wink.”

“Fuck,” Adalina groaned. She had no clue how many cuts littered her body when the windows shattered but she knew she was in pain every time she moved her body. The shards seem to have embedded themselves everywhere or at least that was how it felt. She had been so distracted at the stoke of midnight; kissing her lucky beau of the night to celebrate the new year but the celebration ended abruptly almost as soon as it started. It was so unlike her accident but she couldn’t help but compare this moment to the last time she was laying on the floor injured. She was in agony. A different kind of agony but still agony.
It was strange how much breathing had become a subconscious habit for the original vampire. The moment his back hit the wall his first instinct was to take a deep breath in, only to feel the excruciating pain of his punctured lung. Looking down he could the large splinter of wood sticking out his chest, the one that had caused him to fly back against the wall in the first place. Emrys tried to move but feeling the wood shift inside him made him sit still. It was too close to his heart for comfort, the last thing Emrys wanted to do was stake himself. The curse word that came through the dust seemed close, not that he could see anyone close by. “Who’s there?” He called out, his hand taking hold of a rock. Injured or not Emrys would fight if need be.

One second Emrys had been stood next to Mallory enjoying the New Year festivities, the next he was slumped against a wall with a large, sharp piece of wood sticking out his lung. Emrys had tried to move, but that moment had been so agonisingly painful he hadn’t dared do so again. He knew he had only made his injury worse, and feared injuring himself further by trying to move again - even to pull it out. Not that Emrys thought he had the strength. It felt like with every drop of blood he lost his strength wained even more.
Emrys wasn’t sure what would happen if he bled out entirely, it’s not like it would kill him. He had no wishes to find out regardless.
He began shouting out Mallory’s name, hoping she was close enough and well enough to hear. He paused, thinking he could hear someone shouting back. There it was again. It wasn’t Mallory’s voice, but... Gwen’s! Thank god she was alive. Emrys considered her family and was overjoyed to know she was alive. She sounded close by but Emrys’ wasn’t able to see exactly where.
“Gwen? Where are you? Are you alright?” He called out into the air thick with dust, listening out for a reply.  @gwendolyncaris

Emrys’ wasn’t sure how long he had been sat against this wall, it had felt like days but Emrys knew it had most likely been mere hours - if that. When everything went crazy and the ceiling came crashing down a large spliter of wood shot through the air, piercing through Emrys’ lung and shooting him back against the wall. It was a habit to breathe, and with the first intake of breath, Emrys howled with pain. One benefit to being a vampire was that he didn’t have to breathe, he just had to keep reminding himself not too.
The air was thick with dust and Emrys had no idea what was going on around him. He hated being so helpless, unable to move or to look for his siblings. Emrys wasn’t sure about his other siblings, but he been in the concert hall with Mallory. He had called out her name but there had been no reply. He just hoped that she was unable to hear in the chaos, even with their supernatural hearing it would have been a challenge depending on how far away she was.
At least worrying about his siblings kept his mind of the scent of witch blood. There were a lot of different scents but that one stood out to Emrys and he did everything possible to keep his mind off of it. It didn’t help that with everything second Emrys was loosing more and more blood.
As he sat there, helpless and vulnerable, he suddenly became aware of his name being called out. Emrys couldn’t see the source but he was aware of it getting closer. As the voice became clearer he recognised the source. Which a huge sigh of relief, followed by an even bigger cry of pain Emrys began calling his sister’s name. “Mallory, I’m over here.” @mallorybordeaux

Mallory couldn’t help her laughter as the floated through the crowd effortlessly. “Oh? It that your moniker? I could have sworn that was Rowan,” she teased, genuinely happy to be in her brother’s presence once more. They all had bouts where they’d detached themselves from the group. But they always came back.
Tumblr media
Although he seemed to have a lot of confidence Emrys always felt uneasy around other people, the exception being his siblings. Sure he felt guilty for avoiding them for centuries out of his own embarrassment at how low he had fallen, but the happiness he felt being around them far outweighed that. “Sure, Rowan is handsome in the traditional sense, but that can’t touch my rugged good looks,” Emrys said in jest.

“Oh no, not your embarrassment, but at least now I’ve seen it and have actual proof that it does happen.” Little more than a teasing gesture, for she’d never truly want to see the one person in this life and every other that she’d felt closest to in any predicament that might just fester such a feeling in him. Isa knew what he was like, and it earned a halfhearted eye roll from her. “You’re ridiculous, you know that? Have I told you that recently? Should I start telling you more often or has it effectively sunk in somewhere along the line?” The champagne in her glass remained near untouched, she’d never been much of a drinker – but she didn’t know what to do with her hands either, so this worked as well as anything. “Outdone you? I don’t think so, though I suppose, it has to happen eventually, right?”

“I’m not deluded into thinking that everyone is going to be attracted to me and fall head over heels in love with me,” Emrys chuckled, “They just have poor taste if they don’t.” Perhaps there was once a time when Emrys would have felt dejected at rejection, but since the death of Thaddeus Emrys hasn’t cared about relationships. In the two centuries since he passed Emrys had only had a handful of one night stands. The most romance he got was a bunch of flirty interactions. “I know I’m ridiculous. Ridiculously witty, ridiculously charming, ridiculously handsome. The list goes on.” Emrys didn’t care much for champagne but he sipped from the glass regardless out of habit. “When you’re going to live for an eternity everything has to happen at least once.”
