here’s the first soundtrack fill! it’s for @the-fallofperdix​, who asked for winteriorn set to “gasoline” by halsey.

so here’s what happens if hydra kills howard but keeps maria alive so they can force tony to work for them.

this one is dark. warnings for violence, alcoholism, some gore, references to torture, and brief but recurring suicidal thoughts.

The first time he says it, it tastes like blood. Like his mother’s blood. Coppery and bright.

He looks at her blood while he says it. Not the clotted mess around her split lip or the dark ring of bruises around her throat. He doesn’t look at the picture at all.

He looks at the rusted red flecks on the Winter Soldier’s metal arm, and he says, “Hail Hydra.”

The Soldier nods and sets the photograph on the desk in front of Tony. Metal fingers brush over his mother’s face, blotting her out, and every muscle in Tony’s chest clenches up, because the newspaper she’s holding is from this morning, but it’s been hours, it’s nearly midnight, and she could already be dead.

Just like Howard.

“I want to talk to her,” he says.

“You will speak to her,” the Soldier says, “when you require inspiration.”

I don’t read the comics but from the uploaded comic strips from the new (?) winter soldier comic, here’s what I’ve gotten so far

Bucky and Tony are pretty chill compared to the MCU

Tony fixes Bucky’s arm on occasion

Bucky has a son wearing his old suit from the old Captain America comics

Bucky has a cat

My Conclusion: Bucky’s a gay single dad trying to get himself acquainted with a nice sugar daddy (Tony) to marry so he can help him raise his angsty teenaged son

I’d like to say a prayer for all the buckynat, sambucky, and winteriron shippers that got screwed over by the MCU and how they handled the Winter Soldier. Instead of Bucky being allowed more than one (1) allocated friend and rediscovering himself with a complex support network, the MCU basically just shoved him at Steve and was like “here’s all the support you need! Maybe a genius 16 year old if you’re lucky!”

Like that’s what bothers me so much about Steve and Bucky’s friendship in the MCU. I love Steve but he can’t be everything for Bucky. There’s only so much a single person can do. And he’s kind of misguided about it and the MCU just kind of… refuses to reinforce any of Bucky’s agency.

And now people who only know the movies are like “why would Bucky ever want to be with them,” and it’s like??? Because they love and support him?? Oh wait. The MCU cut that out, because they suck.
