Just as the last song is unwinding, just before anyone is allowed to leave the Great Hall, Dumbledore takes the stage with a smile. “Tonight has been a grand one,” he says, “one for the books, truly. I look around and see students of all different backgrounds and personalities mingling, smiling. I see union tonight.” He stared everyone down around the hall, almost seeming to take each individual in. “There are hard days ahead, I will not lie. But for now--and for later--remember that union is the only way through them. Everyone, please, return to your dormitories.” And with that, abruptly, Dumbledore lifts the spell upon the Great Hall in a fashion most dramatic...and grins. Just grins.

With that, the event in now over! You may plot out who your muse(s) were with when Dumbledore lifted the spell (even play them out if you wish), or have them make a hasty exit if they’re worried about their identity. It’s entire up to you! Everyone may now post regular starts and continue event starters as you wish!

October 31st–Halloween! Since Halloween fell on a weekend in 1976, we might as well make have the party be on actual Halloween.

╰☆╮ THIS IS HALLOWEEN╰☆╮

It seems that even in the darkest of times, Halloween is a widely beloved holiday. Fear, panic, war, and death--all just inspiration for this year’s costumes. For a night, no one need be afraid. Perhaps because, for a night, you were disguised, no longer yourself, but one of the things to be afraid of. Or perhaps you are the beacon of light in these darkest of nights--you’re not dressed up to scare, but to become what you always wished to be. Whatever path you pick, it’s thanks to Halloween. 

Headmaster Dumbledore wanted to capitalize on this holiday--he declared a party. But there had to be more to it, didn’t there? Something to make it so anyone from anywhere could come together. The word disguise kept rolling through his head. And a spell came to mind. It was spell he could cast over the entire ballroom and disguise all the guests in it.

The spell was one that made you forget details even as you were taking them in. Everyone’s face, the distinctions in the sound of their voice...all forgotten even as you looked at them--even as you heard them speak. After the ball, you can remember the conversations you had and the costume they were wearing, but their face? Their voice? Anything to define who they were with sight, sound, smell? Impossible to recall. What’s left then? Just the person. And it was Dumbledore’s hope that this would melt away a few misguided biases and judgments. 

This event will last from Monday, August 13th until Saturday, August 18th, 12 p.m. MST--which is five days long. If you wish to tag your event posts--such as starters, costumes, other Halloween goodies--please tag them as Fortunate:Event004, as Fortunate:Event is only for the main to post in. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to send them in!
