I've finally got the time and energy to carry on with the rewrite and I am... stuck.

I've reached the part where I need to make the kiss obvious now, Zuri can't skirt around it anymore. Not in her own head, at least💀

The problem is, the body language that Zuri and Bobby exhibit is important to the dialogue they exchange and the kiss (especially since I'm writing around the "unwanted kiss" version in the books, I'll go into detail about that a bit in the tags) but a full on flashback isn't going to work with the way I've already written this.

So... do I just keep the dialogue and leave the details out and up to imagination? Or do I keep them by having the memory be in italics and split up between her current thoughts + anything else happening around her?

#the way the unwanted kiss is in the books is a little...hm #just the words “unwanted kiss” puts it in a weird territory #and makes the detective kissing back seem...hm #but I've found a way to work with it and have it make sense for zuri #by now it's obvious that they have a lot of history #and they did have some good times before everything went to shit #bobby is gonna use that of course - and he's going to use a detail she shared in a tmi type of conversation they had #while they were...partaking in something that lowered their inhibitions lol #with the motive of hitting zuri in the “you're special” soft/weak spot he knows she has #it usually wouldn't work coming from him because she knows his game #but this is after days of adam telling her that he's around her mostly because its his job #and right after overhearing him telling nate - someone he is obviously very close to #someone that she assumes he has no reason to lie to or hide things from - that he doesn't have any type of feelings for her #and it bothers her more than she'd ever admit at this point - it stings and she doesn't like that it does #she to a certain extent knows that it's a lie #but it planted seeds of doubt around the interactions they've had where she did seem to matter to him beyond being someone he has to protec #so... kissing bobby is going to be more of a temporary lapse in judgement than something she initiates or encourages or anything #but she does kiss him back for a bit - thanks to her classic 'find comfort in someone' coping mechanism #but it's not all that comfortable because it's coming from bobby and in the back of her mind she knows he isn't being entirely genuine #but it soothes the sting a little - until the alarm bells move to the front of her mind and she stops #so how do I convey ALL THAT without it pulling people out of the story? I'm leaning towards the latter #but any input would be super helpful🥺#chichi.txt

The worst thing is, Viconia would've fit perfectly in Shadowheart's storyline. From Viconia's (non-romanced) epilogue, we know this:

Viconia does found a cult of Shar in Waterdeep and she is betrayed by one of her followers. She is, not Shar. Shar, in fact, admonishes Viconia for this, showing she clearly never ordered that. And Viconia does not give a damn. This is the woman who left the cult of Lolth and went to the 'lighter' option that was Shar (compared to Lolth). She already deals with agents sent by Lolth, she's not going to let Shar tell her what to do.

The nature of the betrayal Viconia was the subject of is left entirely up to the player. With Viconia and Shadowheart's backstory being what they are, Shar's plot for a Selûnite child could've been perfectly inserted as the reason for Viconia's falling out with Shar.

Viconia left Lolth because of how children were treated, how she was treated herself. She did not turn to Shar to do the same thing. She would reject Shar's plot the moment the order came, and that would be the perfect trigger for one of her follower to turn of her. Shar's cult being what it is, I don't think taking down the whole lot is overkill to avoid further backstabbing. There aren't many who will pick their priestress over their goddess, especially not with how Sharran's faith emphasizes self-effacing. Can't make a decision for yourself when you don't think for yourself.

Shar's reprimends following what Viconia did further proves this wasn't what the goddess wanted. Complete that by adding she's incensed Viconia rejected her order and slaughtered her willing clerics, and you've got the perfect connection between Viconia and Shadowheart.

In BG 3, we could've met Viconia in Baldur's Gate, rather annoyed because she's been getting an influx of Sharran agents after her, and she's tracking the source to put an end to it. A Shar-aligned Shadowheart could've the mission to purge the cloister that failed to kill her, while a Selûne-aligned Shadowheart would work with her to put and end to the cloister, to give them both some peace and quiet.

Epilogue could've them both sharing tips on 'How to best kill an agent of faith sent after you'. They both have sharp tongues and a similar past, they could've had fantastic banter.

Instead we have this mess.

#baldur's gate 2 #bg 2 #baldur's gate 3 #bg3 #baldur's gate3 critical #viconia devir #shadowheart #i like shadowheart #why did they make me hate her quest #with a shar aligned shadowheart you meet a drow informant #who's really helpful supplying information about the sharran cult of the area #supposedly she's sent by shar to assit shadowheart in her quest #and it fits because this strange drow's doing everything a sharran cleric should #so why would anyone be suspicious #at the end of the house of grief amongst the other revelations #we discover the ever so helpful informant was actually viconia devir the traitor this cloister failed to eliminate #who used shadowheart's mission as an opportunity to get rid of the sharran after her #and now she's long gone #shar shadowheart is of course angry and makes it her mission to track her down once the netherbrain situation is handled #when you meet her in the epilogue she's still on the hunt though she had close encounters with her quarry and is eager to get back to it #with selune shadowheart viconia reveal herself for who she truly is and you get more dialogue and time with her #she joins you for shadowheart's quest as a temporary companion #with her and jaheira bitching the whole way there #you get the opportunity to convince her to stay to fight the netherbrain #she's there during the epilogue mostly keeping to herself but chatting with shadowheart a bit #mainly about their respective evasion of agents of the faith be it shar or lolth #more bitching with jaheira obviously #possibly with minthara too #they would probably dislike each other #the one person a drow is least likely to trust is another drow

A game just like Sims but dark and gloomy would be extremely good... Something like living in a town run by a cult or demons and just trying to live a normal life... Or we could choose to get involved or save the town or make it better or destroy it entirely...

#imagine going to park with your sim to fish and your sim gets kidnapped by a member of the cannibalist cult #to become a human sacrifice to a demon #all your contacts become gray #you can't click on any of it #and needs bar become black #but you could have things you could use to save yourself in your inventory #like a knife #or maybe you would have happened to befriend an angel at some point and could contact them to save you #they could be the only available contact #or you would have befriended the demon #and he would eat the cult members instead #you could become a cult member yourself if you wanted #and there would be different dark worlds #literally like a mesh up of silent hill and sims #and the events your sim goes through would have mental effects #there would be two emotional categories: temporary and permanent #and your sim could become permanently empty if you choosed to have “normal” run where you focus on survival/just living life normally #staying ignorant to the wickedness of your environment #if you have “permanently empty” status normally you wouldn't have any other emotions #and eventually you wouldn't be able to click on anything in the game #and just watch your sim go through the motions #a gameplay commentary on how nothing they do is important anymore #this status would be instilled after either they witness a certain amount of wickedness or their closed ones get affected by it #i wish i knew how to mod...#but i doubt i have the pc for it #but i'm having so much fun exploring this idea

I just wanted to show her colored in and Signas' new "Elf Wars timeline" look.

Signas always secretly gives her a kiss on her forehead when it's just them in his office. He only does this when she's leaving for the day. He does this publicly when her assignment ends. 🤭

He's ENORMOUS compared to her. Even his hands could easily wrap around her waist like how one would hold a can of soda oof.

But, he likes her and she likes him. Done and done. 🥴

#i've always been lonely but at least at times i wasn't alone #having people around was helpful even if they weren't very close to me on any deeper level #it was still good to do things together and to talk and to laugh #it still is on the rare occasion that it happens #but i've been leaving them all behind when our lives change because nothing was holding us together #and when i left the country i let go of the chances to find anything back when i returned #this year i might have to move again and then again so i'm signing up for it #if only i at least had the sort of personality that'd let me throw myself into temporary things #and gather all i can in my heart before moving on instead of life feeling like a series of almosts #δ
