My Journey to Escape the War in Gaza

My name is Abdelmajed. I never imagined I’d be sharing my story like this, but life in Gaza has become unbearable. I am a survivor of the war here, and in the blink of an eye, everything I once knew—my home, my safety, my community—was ripped away from me.

The war has transformed Gaza into a graveyard of broken dreams. The buildings that once stood as symbols of life and resilience are now piles of rubble. Every corner is filled with the echoes of explosions. Every moment is shrouded in uncertainty. There is no security. There is no stability. There is no light at the end of the tunnel.

Basic needs have become luxuries. Food is scarce. Clean water is even scarcer. Hospitals are overwhelmed and under-resourced, and there is almost no medical care to be found. Every night, families go to bed hungry, praying they’ll wake up to see another day. The cost of basic necessities has skyrocketed, and it’s become a daily battle just to survive.

I’ve seen things I never thought possible—standing in long lines for a piece of bread, rationing every drop of water, and watching my people suffer in silence. I have lost everything—my home, my safety, my dignity.

Escape from Gaza is my only hope, but it’s almost impossible without financial help. The cost of evacuation is far beyond my means, and without support, I’m trapped in a warzone with no way out.

I’m reaching out to you now, in the hopes that someone, anyone, can help. I am not asking for luxury. I am asking for a chance—just a chance—to live. A chance to escape this never-ending cycle of fear, destruction, and loss. A chance to rebuild my life somewhere safe, where I can begin again, where I can find hope once more.

Any amount you can give will help me get closer to safety. Even the smallest donation will make a difference—it could be the lifeline I need to survive. If you are unable to donate, please share my story. The more people who hear it, the better the chance that I can find the support I desperately need.

Amanda calling MelJay "boring" and it makes me wonder what she thinks a "not boring" ship for Mel would look like. I'm almost scared to imagine it.

Yk comments like this are disheartening, it's so easy to judge one side, if you paid attention, you'll understand that ppl who loves Mel recognize her flaws and talk about her as a whole, they also discuss theories regarding her probable apparition in the upcoming show.

What's make ppl so defensive of her are the blatant lies and exagerations of her mistakes and they are often just answers to comments. Their lies are even more blatant when these same ppl stan even more problematic characters but diminish their bad deeds.

Now I'm not naive, a little look at your blog and I see that you are very anti-meljay, so you 100% know why some ppl tend to defend her strongly.

Tbh, I would think, that you, as a black woman, you would be more concerned abt Mel's weird treatment in this fandom especially after these torture and organ harvesting fics which are reminiscent of historical black tortures but instead you criticizes her tiny fanbase. To each their own priorities I guess.

A lot of Mel fans feel uneasy in the Arcane fandom bc of the vitriol she receives and when we think abt it, it's often probably tied to her gender and skin color and it reminds them of real situation.

May I inform you that some of us think (or even wish) that Mel would be even more problematic in the Noxus show, because it's Noxus and there is no mercy there. But apparently some characters who kill ppl or even the whole world can be discussed without being solely reduced to their flaws  ( jayce, viktor, silco, jinx...) but black female characters on the other hand...

Ppl just want Mel to be treated normally like any other character. Btw, the few times time ppl engage in Mel's character, it's only to talk about her flaws, like...ok guys we got it, so idk what you are talking abt... I'm even more surprised that you can see the few problematic Mel fans but not the JV ones...

If you get viscerally angry at literally any & every depiction of a character in which they're not faultless & above reproach, no matter how flattering said depiction ultimately is, then you cannot be mad when people decide to stop engaging with them altogether. People like to write & read about characters. Characters who are allowed to have an actual personality & character arc in which they grow & learn. Not perfect cardboard cutouts who never ever change.

The weight of the world– Mel’s world– how quickly it condensed to something so small. To have it suddenly make its way in her hands made everything about it feel so real. 

A soft small bundle wrapped in a cotton flannel blanket of a powdery pink color. Peering down, Mel was astounded to see a small chubby face scrunching at the overhead lights, a tiny mouth open belting out in protest.

Stricken with a sudden panic, Mel’s gaze flitted to the nurse beside her in a wordless plea. 

They had a kind smile on their face that reached their eyes, the crows feet of both years and experience deepening just a little.

“W-what do I do?” Mel stuttered.

“You needn't worry, Councilor Medarda. You’re doing a fine job. It’s all part of the process of her simply… existing  for the very first time.”

The knot in Mel’s chest slowly began to unravel, making the conscious effort to believe the nurse’s words. Breathing deeply through her nod, Mel returned her gaze down to her daughter. She caught in her periphery the nurse’s comments about how her daughter looked just like her. Quietly Mel couldn’t help but disagree. All Mel could pay attention to was how much of her father she could already see. The shape of strong brows and soft bow in her lips.

The fatigue of labor was overshadowed by an abrupt rush of more realized protectiveness and care. A flitting thought crossed Mel if her mother ever experienced such a feeling when she and her brother were born. 

As the life within her stirred and began to take form over the previous months, Mel vowed to forge her own destiny and not repeat the same mistakes as her mother. 

“Make sure the baby’s head stays supported,” the nurse cut in. “Just a little higher– yes, perfect.”

Mel wondered what kind of woman she would grow into. Would she find interest in politics? Would she take a liking to the fine arts? Maybe there was a part of her that would have a certain curiosity like her father had and consider the sciences?

Or maybe even none of those paths at all?

It mattered not. In that thought, the bundle in her arms made one long and hard scrunch before trying to open her eyes.

She couldn’t do too much, her eyes were still adjusting, but Mel didn’t miss it.

Those breathtaking honey gold irises. 

Just like Jayce’s.

An odd sensation tickled Mel’s cheeks and seeing a rogue droplet on her daughter’s cheeks did Mel realize she had been crying.

Mel and Jayce are kindred spirits and more alike than meets the eye.

I think Mel saw herself in Jayce during his trial. Jayce has the optimism and naivety that was stripped from her when she was banished, and here he is about to face the same fate.

- Both rejected by their homeland and ridiculed for her ideas.

- Jayce’s experiments with magic being seen as dangerous, Mel’s aversion to violence seen as dangerous and putting her family’s security at risk.

- The council’s disbelief in Jayce’s ability to even make Hextech successful, Ambessa not believing Mel is worthy of ruling by her side

- Both of them were doubted, publicly humiliated, pitied, and punished for disturbing the status quo

Mel is just as much of an idealist as Jayce, and he represents the person Mel is deep inside underneath the masks and armor she’s put up.

Part of why Mel wants to help Jayce succeed is because that’s what she wish someone did for her younger self. They both want to make the world better than it is and believe in pushing for progress.
