Oh I'm not kidding lmao, sometimes it gets that bad.
Like today where i could barely tilt my neck because my jaw made the muscles that tight
Put the slightest pressure on it and I was wincing.
Trust me, it seems like a super out-of-left-field desire but after a while you want to do literally anything to get it to stop.
Plus doctors (especially here in the US) are extremely expensive so if you could just *snap* and everything goes away (if you say it with enough confidence people will believe you)?
I've got something I've never seen in this community.
And it's called TMJ
Let me tell you, as someone who deals with it on a daily basis? Completely underrated in the angst department.
I'll enlighten you:
TMJ is a jaw disorder. Some of the main symptoms are a clicking jaw and jaw pain, although these can be attributed to other things. You can be born with it (like me) or develop it. Other effects? Lower neck pain and headaches (usually above the eye, in my experience).
I cannot open my mouth more than 60% without it popping. This, depending on the time, can just a noise or pain. Sometimes, it gets to the point where I refuse to eat because of it.
Moving my jaw back and forth provides momentary relief. Do it too much and it hurts worse. If you open your mouth after moving it, it'll click back, it's a really weird feeling.
Sometimes I wish I could snap my jaw in half and get it to stop.
Now consider this on a character, whump or not.
Not being able to yawn properly. Worrying about what foods cause the most pain (for me? Skittles. Super chewy things you need your molars for), or just straight-up refusing to eat at all.
Caretakers massaging the jaw/neck, easing the tension out the best they can.
Or make my occasional dream come true and just snap the bone.

"Now, hold still."
Whumpee looked up wearily, shifting their wing at the sensation of being touched. Hot pain shot through their back as the broken bone moved, but they did not show it, lest the other take satisfaction in their work.
In their hand, Whumper held a pair of large, freshly sharpened scissors. They hovered over one of Whumpee's primaries, millimeters from mutilation of their precious flight feathers.
"I hope you don't mind the little trim, dear."
Snip.
Feather tips and veins fell from the blades, collecting into a sad heap on the floor and combining with their strong wing's remains.
"There! Better, don't you think?"
They sighed.
You cut too much again...

Dialogue prompts because I'm bored and have nothing better to do:
"I'm just sitting here, trying to enjoy myself, but someone keeps screaming."
"We're all going to die someday, accept that and move on."
"Honestly? I was hoping they'd get worse." "They're bleeding out-" "And? That's nothing."
"Love, I'm not heartless. Just desensitized."
"If I put cyanide in your almond flavored food, you would never know until it's too late."
"No, just because I research murder doesn't mean I'm going to kill you. I just find it interesting."
"I love watching gore, it gives me so much inspiration on what to do to you."
"What are you listening to?" "......murder...?"
"Ooo, let's make this like a horror movie! Go on, run, I'll find you soon enough."
"Ah. There you are."

Hi, welcome to my first post. Here are some things about me, that you should note.
- I am a minor. Says in the description, keep that in mind please.
- I literally grew up on drawing gore and collecting animal bones, most of those topics don't affect me. Although this blog is not made for that, I would not mind talking about the latter in dms.
- Y'all, I'm not supporting abuse by writing whump and/or darker topics. This is either projection, or me exploring some darker topics safely through fiction. Keep any sort of discourse off my blog, please and thank you.
