One year of IndieBox, and a contest!

It's Been a Whole Year!

Not too long ago, in a living room somewhere in Central Florida, the first IndieBoxes were assembled.  161 subscribers signed up for Teslagrad, and only 250 boxes were made.  The team had an idea, and hoped like crazy it would work.

A year later, we have shipped over 11,000 boxes around the world, to thousands of customers.  We have been to PAX South, PAX East, been featured by Twitch.tv, covered by IGN, Kotaku, and everything in between.  IndieBox has an office, and has moved out of our founders' garages and living rooms.

None of this would be possible without all of you.  Hundreds of volunteers who showed up to box, thousands of subscribers, and even more who have loved us and shared us with their friends.

Thank you for believing in this group of amazing, scrappy people who often call work home.  

We can't wait to email you next year to celebrate our two year anniversary!

On Humble Bundle and IndieBox-A-Thon 2.0

Hi there IndieBox Family!

The whole team has been on an incredible series of deadline this week, and we could not be more excited to share all of this news.

First, we are incredibly excited to announce that we are partnering with Humble Bundle!  We are making the Humble Tabletop Weekly Bundle Box!  You can pick it up for $32, and it ships all over the world.  The box will have a folding top lid, felt bottom for dice rolls, and plastic insert that keeps everything in its place!

The whole team couldn’t be happier to have worked with such awesome folks to make this a reality.  Go support awesome charities, and get a great box!

Second, we are excited to announce we will be hosting the second IndieBox-A-Thon!  Lovingly nicknamed 2.0, the event will feature developers from all over the world, and will be live streamed from IndieBox HQ.  For 36 straight hours, the IndieBox Team will be playing great games, and donating 10% of event subscription sales to gaming charities!  You can catch the stream at Twitch.tv/theIndieBox starting April 17th at 12PM EST and ending on April 18th 11:59PM EST.

Kickstarter Boxes!

If you have been keeping an eye on our social media, you’ve probably heard about the two new boxes we are making.  We wanted to formally introduce you to them, as well as answer a few questions about how we are working with these awesome games!

We are currently partnering with two Kickstarters, Deadwood: The Forgotten Curse by Steamroller Studios and Toejam and Earl: Back in the Groove by HumaNature Studios!  These games are ones we really believe in, and the whole team is crazy excited to be working with them.

Here are some answers to just a few questions we thought you might have:

I am an IndieBox subscriber.  Will I get these boxes as part of my subscription? These boxes are made outside our subscription service.  However, you are absolutely welcome to back those Kickstarters and get the boxes yourself! How do I get these boxes? For Deadwood, the box is included at the $100 level.  For Toejam and Earl, the box is a $40 add-on that can be added to any backing level! Is IndieBox going to be doing more of this? There are definitely plans to work with more game developers in the future to create awesome custom boxes.  After all, at the core of IndieBox is manufacturing a damn good video game box. I am interested in working with IndieBox to make a box for my game!  How do I do that? Contact us!

Thank you so much to our awesome community for making this growth possible.  Backing these projects, even if you don’t do it a level that gets you a box, lets us keep branching out to do really cool projects.  There are new, great things coming soon for IndieBox, so keep an eye out!

IndieBox + Twitch.tv = <3

Are you sitting down?  No really, we can wait.  Take a second to prepare yourself for how awesome the thing we are about to tell you is.  Ready?  Alright.

IndieBox is going to be on the big stage at PAX East with Twitch.tv!  We are even announcing March's box, and unboxing a copy of Super Win the Game.  Thanks to everyone who loved us so much to help make all these connections possible.  The whole team is incredibly excited to get this kind of exposure, and to get to say hi to so many new fans and IndieBox family members.

Almost ready to tell you about the February IndieBox.

For the first time this month, we are partnering up on our game announcement.  On Friday, from 2-3PM EST, we will be live on Twitch with HeadWound_ to show you February's game!  We are super, crazy excited about this partnership.  We will be on a few other channels throughout the weekend, and we will update you with a full list soon.

Hi there IndieBox family!

We have survived PAX South mostly intact (the marketing director is still stricken by con crud), and are extremely excited to have added quite a few new IndieBox affiliates! The team met a ton of awesome people who love what we create every month. We also welcomed a TON of new subscribers to our ranks.

We did have a few copies of Super Win the Game left over, and those will go on sale on our store on this afternoon at 2PM EST. There aren't many, though, so if you are interested get them quick!

If you haven't checked your calendar, it is now February 2nd, which means box-announcing-time is right around the corner! Keep your eyes peeled this week, and there may even be some hints dropped. (HINT: there may be a hint in this post.) Have a guess as to what is so big about our announcement? Tell us by Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or skywriter.

We are gearing up for this month's box and PAX East, so look out for tons of updates, lots of news, and more indie than you can handle.

IndieBox creates the indiest RV trip of all time

IndieBox, the only subscription box for indie games, is hosting the first Great Indie Road Trip.  Based in Orlando, Florida, IndieBox will be making the 17 hour trip to PAX South in style: an RV.  With three team members travelling, unlimited mobile data, and a deep love for indie games, a marathon was born.  The Great Indie Road Trip will feature IndieBox past games as well as games from developers around the world.  Each game will be played for half an hour to an hour, and will be live streamed at Twitch.tv/theIndieBox.  IndieBox loves local indie developers, and would encourage submissions from studios in the states we will be passing through: Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas.  Travel dates are January 20th – 21st, and social media posts will use the hashtag #IndieRoadTrip.<

IndieBox-A-Thon was the first marathon stream for IndieBox.  The event included 36 hours of games and developers from all over the world including Jay Tholen, SFB Games, Feline Arts, and many more!

My IndieBox has finally arrived! I screamed waaaaaaaay too loud when i opened it xD anyway it has so much cool stuff in it!! It’s all Steamworld Dig themed!! The news letter has a full interview with David Michael Bennett, a deck of cards, cool stickers, and the original soundtrack for the game with The song “Prepare for Boarding”!! I couldn’t be more excited for the new game!!
