this might be so so so niche but klaus mikaelson and andrew minyard are literally the same vibe in different fonts

they both push people away, are scary asf, use violence when necessary, care deeply for their family but are bad at showing it so they end up isolating themselves, have messy relationships with their parents, killed their moms, locked their brother up, blond, anger issues, the list goes on and on.

my personal take is that he spent so long on the road idolizing kevin and being jealous of him. his entire life he thought kevin had what he wanted, exy and a family. when neil finds out the truth, i think he's less sympathetic to kevin bc he was in a similar situation when he ran from his father. however neil had no regret or love lost for nathan, so seeing kevin mourn what was an abusive lifestyle probably doesn't make sense for him because neil would never go back to baltimore. neil doesn't miss nathan, so he has no sympathy when kevin misses riko. there's also the fact that he and andrew had a similar aspect of instability throughout their childhood, and he can understand what it's like to float around with nowhere to call home. basically more understanding of andrew's trauma and a faulty comparison of his relationship with his father to kevin's relationship with riko.

that begs the question though

why does neil take andrew's trauma so much more seriously than kevin's?

neil doesn't have enough of a filter because one day the foxes want to settle a bet on what's neil's happiest memory and instead of something cute like his first kiss with andrew he says "watching riko get shot in the head."

can’t wait for jeremy to finally meet the real kevin day. not the son of exy, former raven and palmetto fox star, but the broken, bitchy, alcoholic mess of a man who has everything he wants but doesn’t know what to do with it. jeremy’s preconceived notions of kevin have already begun to break down a bit in tgr when he and jean interact before the interview, but in order for jeremy to truly be part of the aftg world that wall needs to fully collapse. in order to understand jean he needs to be able to see the full role that kevin played in the nest as both the abused and the abuser. kevin day is exy and when jeremy realizes that kevin isn’t this perfect athlete, a lot more things will become clearer about jean and his trauma. let him see the double sided nature of kevin’s character!! let him acknowledge his mean girl tendencies!!

unfortunately i found out i was neil josten when i disliked renee. bc yeah she is too nice. that is suspicious. i don’t care that you had a dark past and love god now woman just say something mean about someone and i will feel so much more comfortable around you STOP BEING SO NICE THESE PEOPLE AROUND YOU ARE FREAKS

jeremy does not like neil. neil came to visit jean and jean came back spiraling. neil knows things about jean that jeremy does not. he is a short, suspicious, menace of a man. all of this to say that it is the funniest thing on earth to both the foxes and the trojans that jeremy knox, captain sunshine and rainbows, gets along better with andrew minyard than neil josten.

is it bad that the ONE thing i can’t suspend my disbelief for is the height of the characters. the minyards cannot be shorter than me. i am 5’1. they cannot be shorter than me and be in defensive positions. in my mind the twinyards are 5’4 and neil is 5’6, still shorter than average for guys but not in a way that’s ridiculous
