when someone asks my name to write it down, i generally say “Kay, K-A-Y”, & have done so for many years. this has led to some of the couriers at work transcribing it down as “K KAY”, which i’ve tried to correct a few times but i guess it hasn’t taken. so it’s official, i am known as kay kay by the delivery service.

the drive to keep the nice sturdy box that electronics came in is our current response to the eternal instinct to keep sturdy little box to put to put small sharp objects in. stuff like sewing kits & hobby knives & paperclips & the good scissors. metal biscuits tins fulfilled this role in times past.

in the process of doing clothing alterations, i have needed to calculate parabolas and the angles of triangles and circumferences of circles for the first time since high school. i cannot remember how for the life of me. and i hate that i have to relearn them, and i hate that my math teacher was right.

i don’t know much about acoustics and metal conduction and stuff, but i think a personalised tuning fork would be a really cool thing to be able to give someone. i wonder to what degree you can decorate them while they still work.

Recently caved and bought the headphones that I'd had my eye on since high school. They went on clearance so I nabbed them. Black and gold Beats Studio 3. I don't actually use them for music much but as ear muffs? Spectacular. They sit nicely over the ear plugs and have lovely noise cancellation. And they look cool. Very happy.

Something that’s been bothering me recently. I turned 22 recently, 2-3 weeks ago. I’m no Taylor Swift fan by any means, but I was 11-12 in 2012-13. I know the song 22. And I always thought to myself, “I should listen to the song 22 on the day that I turn 22”. I went to sleep the night before the day, and thought to myself, “tomorrow is the day. I shall be 22, and I will play Taylor Swift’s 22.” But I simply did not. I stayed at a friend’s place the night before, but brought my headphones to do it. Woke up early the next day, had time to do it, but didn’t. Went to work, returned to friends. Had fun, a good day. Went home and fell asleep, tired. Fell asleep doing my daily Duolingo, even. Barely finished it. And I didn’t listen to 22 when I turned 22. The moment is gone, and I can never do that. Still haven’t listened to 22. I should, though.
