Silvergifting week – List of Prompts 2025
Day 1 (August 4): First meetings
Either a canon version, or your wildest AU take. What happens next?
Day 2 (August 5): Romance
Them. In a relationship. As spicy or soft as you want them to be. Enjoy!
Day 3 (August 6): Tension
Emotional stress or conflict in their relationship. Perhaps it is mutual pining, or growing suspicion? Or perhaps they are rivals? You decide.
Day 4 (August 7): Threesomes
Them - and someone else. This prompt can be used either for romantic or gen relationships.
Day 5 (August 8): Hurt/comfort and angst
Silvergifting week would not be complete without a healthy dose of hurt/comfort and angst. Comfort is optional.
Day 6 (August 9): Rings of Power
Today's prompt can be used in two ways. It is either the Rings itself, or Silvergifting inspired by the RoP television series.
Day 7 (August 10): Second chances
They deserve that, don't they? Post-canon, new beginnings.
These prompts are totally optional, they are just for inspiration. Late entries are always welcome.
This year, we don't have a separate Alternative Universe | Canon divergence day. You can post AU content for any prompt.
Silvergifting week started as a Silmarillion fandom event, but the event welcomes also fanworks inspired by the Rings of Power television series. Those can be posted for every prompt, but day 6 is a special day in celebration for the tv series. The entries will be tagged #trop for those who want to curate their experience.

Oh god, yes
I can't be the only Celebrimbor lover that gets frustrated by the de-centering of Celebrimbor’s role in his own story by the larger fandom. And the misconception about the Eregion storyline that the various adaptations have created. I understand that the LOTR trilogy movies skip over the details, that the Ring Poem is misleading, and that TROP chose to make their own version of the Second Age.
But the original Eregion storyline is not some fringe part of the lore. What actually happened is mentioned in the trilogy books during the Council of Elrond, in the Appendices and also in the Silmarillion. We know that Sauron's original plan was to use the Rings to ensnare the elves(of Eregion). We know that most of the 16 were likely originally made for them and worn by them. We know that Celebrimbor and the other Eregion smith heard Sauron's black speech in their minds when he made the One Ring, making them realize that he wanted to "be master over them" and took off their Rings. We know that the Three Elven Rings were made last and by Celebrimbor alone and that Sauron had no knowledge of them until he made the One Ring. And we know that they were still in Eregion and not possessed by Galadriel, Gil-Galad or Cirdan until after Sauron made the One Ring, when Celebrimbor sent them away when Sauron's treachery was revealed and he began invading Eriador.
The way Celebrimbor and the Eregion elves keep getting sidelined honestly bothers me, and the fact that it's probably one of the most misinterpreted parts of the lore drives me insane sometimes. I'm ok with adaptations doing lore changes, but when people act like those changes are what actually happened in the original story or ignore the original story, it gets really frustrating. And the de-centering of Celebrimbor in those other versions genuinely makes me sad. He deserves better. The whole revelation about the One Ring centers around him and Eregion in the lore.

Oh my god.
I rec this absolutely smashing story about Salgant returned to life in Valinor and meeting Sam and Frodo. https://archiveofourown.org/chapters/159287793 One of those rare, amazing fandom experiences: I wrote a silly quick thing years back (a traditional hobbit nursery rhyme) and this absolute genius feastorno swooped on the idea, translated it in to Quenya and wrote this brilliant Salgant Returns fic around the translation. I am awed. (it's archive-locked)

I've just done it. And this fic is so fucking good. Why did I hate it so much all these years ago? (And they should've kissed properly! Why didn't I make them??)
Reblog if you're a writer who re-reads their own work for funsies.

Middle Earth if Mairon were in charge (according to Mairon).
I possibly did something similar to this but still

So, I spent the holidays reading 'Meanwhile in Ost-in-Edhil' series by @elennalore and thinking 'I must draw something', and then I did.
It's an illustration to 'Cellar Door', a fic that nearly made me cry.
(There's a pattern here, isn't it? First, I cry over a fic, then I go and draw something, hehehe, maybe one day it'll make me good at drawing).

Sauron WOULD'VE NEVER
*standing in a house Sauron built*
Celebrimbor: look, i just realized - there's three lightswitches on that wall, and none of them are on the same level.
Elrond: ...Your contractor must have hated you. That house was built with malice in its heart. A darkness was constructed in that house.

I HATE when people say that the Silmarillion isn't canon because 'it's Christopher!'
Yeah, maybe. So??
"The Silmarillion and HoME arent canon because it's Christopher Tolkien-" tell me where the names "Annatar" and "Mairon" come from. Quickly.

8. What accessory would you like most to own? (sword, brooch, crown, etc.)
I LOVE Morgoth's crown design, so yeah, I would like to have it. (Though I would prefer it to have the silmarils, all three of them, thank you very much).
But on the other hand I would loooove to have this Celebrimbor's cup holder thingy, because I'm pathetic (obviously).

And this is a perfect summary of the fanfic I'm currently trying to finish.

7. What minor character would you like to see more of?
Cirdan, because it's kinda annoying that we have CIRDAN of all elves, but the show tells us next to nothing about him. (But let him have his beard back, please).

I'm skipping #5, because me and any music in any film/tv-show is "well, the music in this show exists, I believe".
6. Where would you most like to live in RoP and why?
The obvious answer my obsession would give is Eregion, but I'd be pointless there, I can do nothing with my hands. So let it be Rivendell. Waterfalls are beautiful, and I could be of some use as a language and literature teacher.

4. What’s your favourite location in RoP?
My answer is quite unexpected even for me. Pelargir.
I love it's vibe, it's atmosphere, it's look. Beautiful abandoned buildings of the great civilisation next to dirty dilapidated shacks. I see so many potential in this contrast actually.

That's a perfect description and that's why I love it
Valvert is not enemies to lovers or rivals to lovers, but a secret third thing (mutual annoyances forced by some higher power to meet again and again to lovers)

3. If you could spend one day with a character, who would it be? What would you do together?
It would be Celebrimbor. BECAUSE I FUCKING WANT TO KNOW HIS MOM'S NAME.
But seriously? Probably Elrond. BECAUSE I FUCKING WANT TO KNOW HIS SISTER-IN-LAW'S NAME.
Or better yet! Gil-galad! BECAUSE I FUCKING WANT TO...
Oh well, I can do it all day.
Okay, it's Elrond anyway. I want some not-so-fresh First Age gossip, and though Elrond's stories wouldn't be first hand, but I think he would be more willing (than Celebrimbor or Gil-galad) to share them.
