A librarian from Sweden, in her early thirties, with too little time for all the lovely books she wants to read! This is a booklr sideblog - ie. I can't follow back with this one. My main blog is Celtic-Poetry. So if that blog follows you, don't be afraid, it's just me :) Here goes anything books and sometimes I post things from my very interesting work as a public librarian at a little branch library ^^ Currently reading: A Language of Dragons by S.F. Williamson.

When you sit and read up about several books instead of reading them or what I did tonight, read up about a ton of audiobooks instead of listening to any of them and now it’s midnight and I’m sleepy as fuck but I still haven’t picked a new read 😑🥲

the librarian
books all those rows of books
the library is the place where I feel the most at peace
it’s easier there
to breath to think to be free to be me
the feeling
to stand to walk between the shelves
all the books all the stories the smell of paper the atmosphere it’s so tranquil
it’s home

As a librarian (that also reads much YA books). I just want to say that don’t be ashamed of what you’re reading…that’s so fucked up!! Read what you want, omgosh it shouldn’t need to be said but read the heck what you want! And be proud of that instead! That you can read, that you’re not forbidden to read books at all, that you actually have the opportunity to have access to great stories and not being forbidden to have fun!

Usually we don’t really like when people are writing in the library books but it’s kinda sweet that they liked the book you know. The scribbles in pencil read “This is the most beautiful book I’ve read in my entire life. - 5 May 2018.”

“To walk around inside a library and see all the books and take one out, at random, and read at the back of it… and just to be there in those rooms with all the books and all their stories…that’s heaven for me and makes me truly happy! It’s so soothing…”
— something I wrote years ago and it’s still very true, now more than ever with my work and everything, @the-librarian-geek

“Why you should fall to your knees and worship a librarian!! Ok, sure. We’ve all got our little preconceived notions about who librarians are and what they do. Many people think of librarians as diminutive civil servants, scuttling about “Sssh-ing” people and stamping things. Well, think again buster. Librarians have degrees. They go to graduate school for Information Science and become masters of data systems and human/computer interaction. Librarians can catalog anything from an onion to a dog’s ear. They could catalog you. Librarians wield unfathomable power. With a flip of the wrist they can hide your dissertation behind piles of old Field and Stream magazines. They can find data for your term paper that you never knew existed. They may even point you toward new and appropriate subject headings. People become librarians because they know too much. Their knowledge extends beyond mere categories. They cannot be confined to disciplines. Librarians are all-knowing and all-seeing. They bring order to chaos. They bring wisdom and culture to the masses. They preserve every aspect of human knowledge. Librarians rule. And they will kick the crap out of anyone who says otherwise.”

“Public libraries are such important, lovely places!” Yes but do you GO there. Do you STUDY there. Do you meet friends and get coffee there. Do you borrow the FREE, ZERO SUBSCRIPTION, ZERO TRACKING books, audiobooks, ebooks, and films. Have you checked out their events and schemes. Do you sign up for the low cost courses in ASL or knitting or programming or writing your CV that they probably run. Do you know they probably have myriad of schemes to help low income families. Do you hire their low cost rooms if you need them. Have you joined their social groups. Do you use the FREE COMPUTERS. Do you even know what your library is trying to offer you. Listen, the library shouldn’t just exist for you as a nice idea. That’s why more libraries shut every year

Hi 👋
I’ve got a load of new followers again…so…
I’ve been writing poetry since I was 16… it’s more than half my life. This year I’m turning 35… it’s sick man…. & I’ve been on tumblr since 2013 😳
I started out in Swedish and when I was around 19-20 I started to translate my poems into English and later on I also started to write in English. Nowadays I mostly just write in English...
-
@celtic-poetry is my main blog - where I post my writings but also a hell lot of my current fandom obsessions.
If you only interested in my writing I also have a side blog where I only post my poems and longer pieces —> @wordsfillingupmyheart
And if you want to follow my life as a librarian and other book related stuff I also have a side blog for that —> @the-librarian-geek
