“Hair’s dyed with squid ink. It was longer around the time i was 12 but the squid ink fucked it up so much i had to cut some of it off because it was just rotting. This,” they pointed to their yellow eye. “Is a contact. Lost the other.”

“spellbooks!” grinning proudly to themselves, Cove dropped the books on the grass and kneeled next to them. ”originally I was just going to get the copy that Lir used to have to find out what spell she used and whether I’m gonna be able to use it to my advantage. but… I found a necromancy one too, and that’s gotta be useful somehow.”

“Really well, actually! That rest did me some good!” They‘re running away from the hulking form of a golem with two glimmering books tucked under their arm, threatening to jostle loose with another one of their swift steps. They’ve made themselves a new outfit better than the old one that was tearing at the seams, and with it is an iron axe strapped to their back. They look more lively than before, with a grin on their face.

a village seems to be in distress in the background. Not under physical damage but the villagers darted about in disarray, pointing at the stranger who’d broken into the library and stolen off limits books from places on the shelves.

lPierce seemed a lot more agitated and frazzled than when he first arrived. rummaging through a Pocket sown into his belt he pulled out an ender pearl and chucked it as far as he could, just quick enough to be away in the first moments of Cove’s awakening, the sun rising in the sky.

Tears pricked at Pierce’s eyes as the guilt of not doing much for Cove’s situation as he could’ve Crashed down like an icy cold wave. “Even if I took them- I wouldnt’ve been the parent Cove needed. they’d probably die under my full care. I did the bare minimum of keeping them alive.“

“Well they’re my kid, so I’ll just be watching. Pulling strings to make sure he doesn’t just die.” The translucent- almost ghostly man shrugged nonchalantly. “Same thing I do with the rest of my kids. Maybe I’ll let Cove meet ‘em someday.”
