If you haven’t started already, start archiving/downloading everything. Save it to an external hard drive if you’re able. Collecting physical media is also a good idea, if you’re able.

Download your own/your favorite fanfics. Save as much as you can from online sources/digital libraries. Recipes, tutorials, history, LGBTQ media, etc. It has been claimed, though I can’t find the exact source if true, that some materials about the Revolutionary War were deleted from the Library of Congress.

It’s always better to be safe than sorry and save and preserve what you can. Remember that cloud storage also is not always reliable!

Library of Congress - millions of books, films and video, audio recordings, photographs, newspapers, maps, manuscripts.

Internet Archive - millions of free texts, movies, software, music, websites, and more. Has been taken offline multiple times because of cyber attacks last month, it has recently started archiving again.

Anna's Archive - 'largest truly open library in human history.’

Queer Liberation Library - queer literature and resources. Does require applying for a library membership to browse and borrow from their collection.

List of art resources - list of art resources complied on tumblr back in 2019. Not sure if all links are still operational now, but the few I clicked on seemed to work.

Alexis Amber - TikToker who is an archivist who's whole page is about archiving. She has a database extensively recording the events of Hurricane Katrina.

Physical media is so important you guys. Print out banned books. See if you can get physical copies of songs that might be banned. Go to your local bookstore and buy as many history books as you can. Every single post on this blog? Write it down. Write down advice, because they can’t steal that from you. Be safe out there guys.

Before January 2025, download your favorite fics, especially those with smut or queer content.

If Project 2025 goes into effect (which it very likely will now that we have three red branches of government in the US), they may attempt to restrict the use/sharing of media on sites like ao3.

This particularly applies to fics with smut or any type of queer content, because the official Project 2025 document states, "Pornography, manifested today in the omnipresent propagation of transgender ideology and sexualization of children, for instance... has no claim to First Amendment protection... Pornography should be outlawed."

Now, I don't expect ao3 to disappear or go anywhere without a fight, but it's best to be on the safe side these days.

To download your favorite fics:

Go to archiveofourown.org and open the fic you want to download.

At the top right corner, to the right of the 'subscribe' button, is a button that says 'download'. Click it.

A drop-down menu will give you the option to choose the format of your download. Choose your preferred format (.epub and .pdf are my personal favorites -- .epub lets you open a fic in the apple books app and .pdf is compatible with like every device and program out there).

When you click the button for your preferred format, a pop-up window appears confirming your choices. The title of the document will default to the title of the fic, so be aware of that and consider changing conspicuous titles to something ignorable, especially if you share the computer.

You're done! Now do this with all your favorite fics!

So, it’s been a bit since the election, and now it’s time to stay informed.

Don’t doomscroll, that does nothing. Instead, find meaningful information on Donald Trump’s plans for our country. Find and download all the information you can on LGBTQ and POC history, abortion, figure out and stay on top of your state’s laws as well as national laws, know the constitution and know what Trump can and cannot change without pushback. Register to vote. Stay informed.

Remember, information is key here. Trump thrives on the misinformed and uninformed, so stay out of those groups. Know correct, valid, and well-sourced information. And to all: stay strong. They can’t keep us all silent.

for those who are devastated about the election results right now, here’s your gently reminder to take some time offline, read your favorite book, write that fic you’ve been wanting to write, play with your pets, watch that film on your to-watch list, rewatch your comfort tv show, drink some water, get yourself something delicious, have a nice and relaxing bath, look at the pretty skies and take a deep breath. you’ve survived this far and you will continue to survive. this is not the end ♡

Keep the people around you in the US safe

You know trans people? No you don't.

You know queer people? No you don't.

You know immigrants? No you don't.

You know people who are pregnant? No you don't.

You know people who are trying to get pregnant? No you don't.

You know someone on their period? No you don't.

You know people who have any other religion than Christianity? No you don't.

You know people who aren't religious?

You know people who voted blue? No you don't.

You know disabled people? No you don't.

You know someone who had an abortion? No you don't.

You know someone who was/is at a protest? No you don't.

Be safe on the internet. Especially on sites owned by Trump's friends and allies.

And if you have to, keep yourself safe. Check your social media. Delete posts that can get you or people you know into trouble.

Do NOT keep track of your period in a traceable way. Whether its on paper or digitally.

Talking about politics can be turned dangerous. Be aware who and where you talk.

Be aware of devices like phones keeping track of you. A lot of new cars keep track of where you're going. If things like the FBI are no longer independent, this will get dangerous. Even pictures are traceable.

If you have to go somewhere that will now be dangerous if someone knows, do not bring smart devices. If you need a phone on you in case you need to call for help: old phones or burner phones.

Stay safe. Keep your family and friends safe.

I'm currently making a survival book, its going to inclue everything you need to run, how to cross borders (only if necessary), the safest states right now, the unsafest states, how to protect yourself in a red area, what places to stay at if your running, nearby jobs and other ways to get money, what foods are best to get, how to make certain foods, electronic related advice, the safest messaging apps, what not to say in messages, guide to doctors if you have a uterus or are a women, what plants are safe to eat, various poisons, how to deal with cops, a map of the local area and where cops hang out, how to survive in the woods, clothes you should bring, what to do about your period if your on the run, methods of birth control and what's the best, how to legally change your name and the amount of money it costs, how to a car if your in a non walkable area, first aid tips, how to get and use a burner phone, what type of weapons you might need and how to use them, a guide on how to use most commonplace guns, chargers to use for any devices you might bring.

All of it, I've got multiple notebooks to I'm spreading it across them.
