So, for context, Orion, Aerial, and Megatron (I'm still debating on calling him D-16) are a very close trio of friends (I'm also debating on flat out going full MegOpLita, but we'll see). There's a final ultimate schism that happens between them when Meg eventually goes full tyrant. A vicious fight breaks out between them, and all three are mortally wounded as a result. Megatron being saved by Shockwave and/or other Decepticons, while Aerial and Orion are saved by Alpha Trion. Both Orion and Aerial are revived by the matrix, which transforms them into Optimus and Elita respectively.

During the Pre-Great War/Revolution arc, I was thinking that for a large portion of it Orion and Aerial would be "In Ritus" which in my AU is the courting period before officially becoming Conjunx Endura. A lot of their dynamic is based around the fact that within Iaconian society specifically, the concept of Conjunx Endura is very touchy, and as a culture they have a lot of hang ups surrounding it. ON TOP OF THAT there is the fact that Aerial is not even considered a person within their society, so them being conjunx, while not explicitly forbidden, is very much taboo. The two of them are trying to protect themselves and keep their relationship hidden in hopes of pursuing a brighter future together one day. Now, mid-great war, they are a badass power couple. Where they had to hide before, now they can be openly together with pride. They set an example for their fellow Autobots that having a conjunx isn't a source of shame, and that their love is a source of strength, not a weakness.

Pre-Great War, Aerial's closest relationships were with her Trine. They are a lot of what motivates her early on, and keeping them safe and together was her upmost priority. Unfortunately, she does tragically lose them later on... She was also incredibly close with Megatron after they met through Orion. They have a lot in common, being on similarly low rungs of the social ladder, and being skilled fighters. They sort of share the belief that "they have to be the strong ones. They have to be the protectors, and make the hard decisions." Since Orion has no combat experience at the start of the story, and has a relatively privileged upbringing compared to them. When Megatron began to slide into tyranny after the revolution, Aerial was briefly tempted to fully join him and the Decepticons, but her capacity for empathy won out in the end, and she joined Orion with the Autobots. Now, mid-Great War her closest bonds are with the Elite Guard, which she leads. In my AU the Elite Guard are basically the Female Autobots from G1, tasked with protecting Cybertron itself while Optimus focuses on off-planet conflicts. The Elite Guard essentially become the new family she forges for herself after the tragedy of losing her first.

So, one thing that I really wanted to do with my AU is make Aerial's time stop ability a major part of her character.

She was originally created as a part of a trine (in this universe, a trine is a spark that was artificially split into three), they were the precursors to the seekers. An experimental beta test. The scientist who created them did so with the intention of making super soldiers. However, due to their methods not yet being perfected, Aerial and her trine's time stopping powers come at a cost and will very likely kill them if ever used.

This portion of the story is all set within the functionist rule of Cybertron. The council, unimpressed by the experiment, relegates Aerial's trine to being the body guards of some of the least valuable members of Cybertronian high society. From the Council's perspective, the only thing Aerial and her trine had to offer was maybe successfully sacrificing their lives to protect someone with "actual value," yet they didn't even have enough faith to entrust them with protecting anyone important.

This is why Aerial is assigned to protect Orion, the apprentice of Alpha Trion, the keeper of the Iacon Archives. At first Aerial is only doing her job, and trying to somehow find a way to survive and earn her right to be seen as a real person within their society. However, Orion respects her autonomy and advocates for her rights from the very beginning. He is the first person outside of her own trine to ever treat her kindly, and her reasons for wanting to protect him become far more personal then she ever expected they would...

The plot thickens from there, but that's the initial rundown of Aerial's character at the beginning of the timeline!

I'm sorry but if Megatron/D-16 would throw Orion Pax away because he was in the way of D-16/Megatron's revenge, "killing Sentinel" is the least concerned thing about D-16.
