Hi guys, gals, and enby pals. It’s been a hot minute, hasn’t it? I can’t even remember the last time I’ve logged into this blog. Thank you all that have decided to keep me on their dash despite the lack of activity from me. It’s appreciated.  Going to be honest here and say I only really signed in to mention that I’m streaming now. The whole channel is Noctus/Owlchemist themed, with a bit of lore on the side. I’ve always been a lore fiend, I admit it. Noctus even has a presence in the chat due to some bot-work I’ve done and even responds to chatters. One of my stream days is dedicated purely to Sonic games and I try to keep a pretty chill/fun vibes going for the atmosphere in ‘Noct’s lab.’ It’d be really cool to catch up with some of you again over in the Twitch chat, since it’s been so long. Nonetheless, hope you’re all keeping safe. Laters.

Noctus icon since I’ve lost my old mun ones Quick life update since my last post was vague and didn’t give any insight on future activity. 

Haven’t been on Tumblr in general, though I have been thinking about this blog as of late. I miss it. I miss the dash. However standing between me returning is my lack of time (and to a degree energy) since I’m doing a course most weekdays and now livestream on weekends.

Mixed verse fun facts —   ★ Noctus in all his verses is lactose intolerant       ★ In his FMA / Chimera verse Noctus became intolerant after being made into a chimera and could originally take dairy without any issue. It wasn’t until the process of owl-material and the reshaping of his body that he started having issues with it.     ★ In his Sonic / Mobian verse is when you’ll see him drinking the most coffee or milkshakes. This being largely due to the fact this is the most modernised of his verses and the availability of milk alternatives. Thankfully, given the fact he lives in the sonic-world equivalent of Italy, small amounts of cheese in dishes don’t cause him issues. ★ Noctus listens to ‘ Bardcore ‘ music on occasion. ★ He owns ( or has owned ) a pet ant colony in all of his verses     ★ In his more villainous AUs ( Syndicate, Yiga, ect ) Noctus keeps a stinging species of ants that he also farms for his poisons and paralytics.

Perizia Project Subject list : In order to protect the identities and anonymity of the gifted mobians involved in the project each was assigned a subject name. Any data referring to a specific individual was listed under these names, in case a malicious force ( say, Eggman ) learned of the project. 

By request volunteers could be referred to by these codenames, or another alias, in person. Which meant that some of the researchers weren’t on first-name basis with the subjects. It was only Noctus and faculty overseer Professor Marx ( @dullerhues​ ) that were aware of all the true identities of the subjects.

“Umm… Give me a moment.” Sole spoke as snap her fingers a couple of times as she tried to recall the detail of the latest dream she had before she finally stopped when she remembered most of the detail.

“Ah! Well… Basically I’m standing in the middle of a wheat field and the sky is bright, but each wheat had a different word… Well positive words like good, hope, love, courage… Then I hear a crow calling which results in the sky turning dark and the wheat withering… Then I just start falling after taking a step back?“ She explained before giving a sheepish smile. “I hope you can understand why it feels rather… nonsensical and borderline nightmarish…”

【 ★ 】Honouring the wolf’s simple request was easy enough ( especially for the alchemist ) and he soon falls silent, allowing her a moment to recall in peace. Uninterrupted. But even after Sole had given her description the alchemist had remained quiet. The soft, yet curious, features of his expression having fallen with a levelling of his brows. Concerned, to put such a feeling mildly. Everything she’d detailed seemed to indicate what he’d been alluding to; stress dreams. Something which Noctus knew he wasn’t properly equipped to deal with.

   Noctus nodded in answer before finally speaking up. ❝ Have you considered talking to someone about it? Maybe they could help you to make better sense of it. I hear the restoration effort has some kind of program for those who were part of the resistance and war-effort. ❞

Weaponized Negative Polarite : General information on negative Polarite can be found either here or here from previous posts, as this headcanon specifically looks into how Noctus weaponizes it given Polarite’s utility as an explosive. Due to it’s instability, however, it’s not safe to simply carry the stones for prolonged periods of time as they become increasingly easier to set-off over time. In order to better accommodate, and safeguard against, negative Polarite’s inherently volatile nature Noctus designed a container to keep the stones secure, yet still easily used. 

Held within a shell of specially treated glass, the casing of the Polarite remains fragile enough to break on impact. However, the impact alone won’t trigger the negative Polarite to detonating, in the case of accidental breakages. Instead Noctus must transmute a charge of Chaos Energy onto the sphere, and then roll / hurl it. The breaking of the charged glass then disrupts the contained Polarite, causing it to react and in turn detonate.

Noctus does have a design drafted for a variation of the container that wouldn’t require the user to have some form of ability with Chaos Energy. The alchemist, though, has no intention of following through with developing the design. With the danger negative Polarite poses if it were to fall into the wrong hands Noctus prefers to limit it’s use to a trusted few, all of which are chaos sensitive anyway.

      Tangenting? Was that some kind of new word the kids were using? That was the first time he’d heard anyone say it. Or perhaps it was vernacular used outside of the village? He’d never heard it, but he was never in other towns and villages for more than a day or two, so who was to say? He should really get up to speed with some of the younger kids’ lingo.

      “Ahh, that would explain why I’ve not seen ye around the village before.” He cocked his head to the side. “If yer don’t mind me askin’, Lad, how come ye don’t live in the village? I cannae say I’ve seen any Rito livin’ in the other towns across Hyrule, so I’m just surprised ta hear it…” 

【 ★ 】The question snags and catches the alchemist with the grace of a loose thread on a branch. Awkward. But salvageable. It wasn’t as if he’d not heard this particular question before ( in some form or another ) since arriving home. Nonetheless, the answer never came more easily to him even with the practice. Though it wasn’t because such a topic was difficult for him to speak about, but instead, that he’d often found his fellow Rito didn’t quite follow along. Some concepts just came more naturally to the hylian, or even the Shiekah, than it did the other races. Perhaps that was why Noctus felt more at home along their kind than his own. 

   ❝...A few reasons, ❞ Noctus answered.

   Should he lead with the fact he had a dislike for traditional Rito architecture? Or forego sharing his preferences for the simple fact his work couldn’t be so exposed to the elements?

   ❝ I left the village about a decade ago to apprentice in a craft that is... underappreciated... you could say... by the Rito. These days I have lodgings just beyond the village’s border. A short flight, no more than a few minutes out. ❞ He paused briefly before adding on,  ❝ It also serves as my workshop. ❞

【 ★ 】Ocean salt rose, and fell, on the tides of the steady breeze that had proven the Rito’s constant companion as he’d completed his rounds. Last on his list: Windfall Island. The bustling little hub of trade and commerce was often both the starting and finishing point in a lap around the Great Sea, before finally returning home to Dragon Roost island to collect his payment. All that stood between those glistening rupees was a few final deliveries; some letters, and a parcel which was to be delivered directly to the residence. Special service. 

   Only... Noctus was having a little trouble finding the addresses. 

   The Rito shuffled his remaining letters in hand as his eyes darted, back, and forth, in hopes something would align or at the very least strike familiar. It was starting to get frustrating. This job really wasn’t for him and he had no real interest in it. If only the ingredients for his alchemy weren’t so expensive...

   Noctus perked when bright green cloth crossed the corner of his vision, sparking an idea. With a quickened step he walked over to them, hopeful, that they’d be able to provide him with some sense of direction. 

  ❝ Sorry to bother you but you wouldn’t so happen to know where this residence is, would you?❞ Noctus asked while presenting the small address slip that had been bundled with the parcel.

The Perizia Project : A research project led by Noctus, the Perizia Project looked into his hypothesis about the nature of gifted Mobians and their ties to Chaos Energy. Many individuals with supernatural talent also tend to demonstrate a degree of chaos sensitivity. Which is, more often than not, to a higher level than sensitives who lack ‘other’ gifts. Noctus suspected that the origin of these powers / abilities may have actually been caused by the transformative qualities of Chaos Energy during early development; with this taking place possibly as early as formation in the womb.

Noctus had been doing some small-scale research on his own with self-built equipment before the project was formally established. This equipment was capable of tracking concentrated ambient chaos energy within a defined space, how it moved, as well as how it reacted. Which meant, were the study successful, not only would it prove the existence of the potential link but also the ability to create hardware capable of discerning gifted Mobians.

The alchemist’s early findings were already proving to be quite strong, prompting the university to give a small grant towards the research. The funding resulted in the formation of a team of fellow post-grad students to collaborate on the project. This, in turn through networking and association, allowed the project to include a larger number of volunteers for a better sample size of data.

【 ★ 】❝ In what way? I mean... I know you just described them as nonsensical but.. surely you can at least somewhat put them into words? From what I understand  —and from what I’ve been told  — dreams can be an indicator of something going on in your life. Since there are nightmares but also... well... ‘ stress dreams ‘ you could call them. Which tend to happen when your subconscious or conscious mind is stressed. ❞
