Edgar shrugged "the house would be in ruin up there if it weren't for me", he laughed softly. motioning to the ceiling. He was only half joking. Alex was a mess with all the shiny things he collected.
Ruby laughed and shook her head. “That would be embarrassing. If you thought it was dirty out here  I can’t imagine what you’d think about my bedroom.”

Edgar nodded "I'd leave and your entire house would be clean", he half joked. Most of the time be cleaned he actually ended up over doing it. Once he cleaned his room out and ended up cleaning his house and the apartment above his' for free.
She blushed and wiped her face once again. “Is that better?” Ruby looked back up at Edgar and smiled. “Well if I make more of a mess then you’re cleaning it up.”

"It's worth making someone laugh", Edgar grinned, reaching over to wipe some ice cream form her cheek with his thumb. "You got it all over"
Ruby giggled and shook her head. “Oh my god Edgar I’m gonna make a mess if you keep making me laugh.” She smiled up at him and wiped her mouth against her jacket sleeve.

The Lord's entire demeanor changed at that. His shoulders straightened and he sat up a bit more. "Really?", he asked excitedly, leaning forwards to rest his elbows on the armrest of the chair. He wanted to know everything about these places, explore them and meet all the strange creatures he was sure would live there.
"What is Oz like? Does it have strange creatures? Different languages than ours?", he asked, eyes practically sparkling with interest and curiosity.
He took a long intake of breath as if trying to think on it himself, “Depends. Some are strange, creepy, annoying, or on a rare occasion actually pleasant.” He gave a large grin after this. “I enjoy all of them though, no matter how many times I have to tell myself I don’t.”
He relaxed more on the chair, laying on his back and resting his feet on the arm rest. “I could take you one time, if you like.”

Edgar laughed, puffing his cheeks out again, happy to make her laugh. "Like a puffer fish", he laughed, making a fish face and fanning his hands on either side of his face like fins.
She sputtered as ice cream flew out of her mouth when Ruby tried to contain her laugh. “Oh my god your face was perfect! I didn’t know someones cheeks could puff so much.”

"Other worlds?", Edgar perked up, his expression reminiscent of the curious boy he'd once been. He'd never heard about other worlds unless they were in dreams or stories told by mad men. They always caught his interest though. "What's it like in these other worlds?"
He laughed, “Depends on your definition of far. It’s in a whole other land, so I’d say pretty far.” He sat down as well now, but more awkwardly as he adjusted himself. “I’m a portal jumper, so by exploring… I explore different worlds, or realms if you prefer.”

"Eating moderate amounts of chocolate can increase your life span" he shrugged, taking a huge bite of ice cream, His cheeks puffed a bit before he swallowed a little of it.
Ruby laughed and shook her head. “I don’t mind. I love useless facts.” She took a spoonful of ice cream and lifted it to her lips. “What other random facts do you have?”

"Chocolate is great. It releases endorphins in the brain that cause a sense of euphoria", Edgar smiled, taking a huge bite of the ice cream. "Sorry...weird facts again", he laughed sheepishly.
"Yeah I’m pretty sure I do." Ruby nodded as she headed towards the kitchen. She looked through the freezer, letting out a triumphant call as she held up the bucket. Ruby smiled and set it on the counter before scooping it into two bowls. She placed spoons next to them and took them to the living room, plopping on the couch. "Hope you like chocolate."

"You you maybe have ice cream?", Edgar asked, shrugging. He supposed a little ice cream would brighten things back up. It couldn't hurt anyways. One bowl wouldn't be too much.
Ruby chuckled and shook her head as she leaned against his shoulder. “I don’t want to be a downer. Thank you though.” She sat back up and cleared her throat slightly. “I’m gonna get some more water, want anything?”

Edgar laughed softly, standing and moving to sit by her. "It's okay. You can cry if you need to. I'm willing to listen to the sad stuff if you need someone to listen", he said softly, gently wrapping an arm around her shoulders.
She smiled gently as her hand squeezed his gently. “Thank you. I didn’t know that you.. I’m sorry.” Ruby laughed lightly and wiped her eyes. “Sorry, I’m not meaning to cry. New happy things um.. I really like wolves and lemurs.” She laughed.

Edgar's expression softened and he reached out slowly. "I'm not going to give you the 'I'm so sorry talk' I know that gets annoying", he said, voice suddenly much softer than before. "I'm here though if you need someone who understands. I lost the girl I was going to marry"
Ruby laughed and motioned around the room. “Well I kind of like to read.” She smiled and thought for a moment. What did she like to do besides read? “I.. I don’t know. I usually just read. My uh.. My boyfriend was killed a few years ago and I just.. I don’t get out a lot since then.” Ruby sighed softly, shrugging as she looked around the room.

"What do you like to do in your free time?", he asked, leaning forwards. She'd listened to him so he only thought it was fair to hear about what she liked. "Tell me of your sorrows, share with me your woes"
"No!", Edgar said quickly. He wanted Ruby to keep talking. It was easier if someone else did the bulk of the talking, he was a listener, not a talker. "You’re interestng and far from annoying. I’m just…not that good at talking. I listen"

Edgar nodded, picking at a hole in his jeans. He wasn't quite used to this much talking. Alexander usually stuck to ignoring him or taunting him. He didn't need to know many topics. With others he apparently did.

"Oz...I've never heard of it? Is it far?", Edgar asked, moving to a dusty chair, uncovering it and the one next to it. He sat, absolutely no grace in his movement. Instead of a dignified Lord he looked more like a sack of potatoes with how he flopped down.
He was eager to hear of far off places, places he'd likely never visit. Maybe one day he could. He might finally work up the courage to leave and travel.
"Well perhaps one day you will be able too." He states awkwardly, unsure of what to say. He looks around now, eyeing everything in the house trying to ease his curious mind.
"I just came back from Oz actually. Strange place, but what isn’t these days?"
