Mild Ruins of Phandelver spoilers
Note: we started this session at the beginning of October
In the previous session we cleared the lair of the Redbrands and delivered both the wizard and the kidnapped people to the mayor. At the start of this session, Myrna, one of the kidnapped people, told us about her childhood home, Thunder Tree, and the necklace we were allowed to have as an extra reward if we could find it.
Myrna (DM): Beware though, everyone had been driven from the town by…creatures
Barbarian gnome: What kind of creatures?
Myrna: We believe they are undead
The entire party (OOC): *gasp* Halloween side quest!
DM (OOC): No it’s - it’s part of the story…
Half a session later, we arrive in Thunder Tree
DM (describing the landscape): As you enter the town, you see a graduate change of the trees from their lush green to an autumny red.
Dragonborn Fighter (me, OOC): Wait, in what season are we even?
DM: Whatever the season was, as you enter Thunder Tree it is spontaneously autumn
Party (OOC, chanting): Halloween sidequest, Halloween sidequest
DM: Okay… as you walk further, you notice there are plenty of -sigh- pumpkins
Party (OOC, excited): HALLOWEEN SIDEQUEST, HALLOWEEN SIDEQUEST
DM: No guys, it’s part of the storyline
Party (OOC): We don’t care! HALLOWEEN SIDEQUEST!
DM, beaten: OKAY FINE, it’s a Halloween sidequest now!
