This time I’m talking about a life philosophy I’m taking into 2022 that has gone into one of my character designs: my Dungeons and Dragons 5e Monk Kyoko Oshiro. 

Also brief announcement, I’m going to be moving all my WattPad writing over to AO3 sometime in the future! It’s going to be a lengthy process but I will get it done when I can. 

Paramount+ has been farming ideas off the site and I believe firmly in ideas being properly credited. I do not want to participate on a site at risk of being farmed to a predatory subscription-based televison service. It’ll stay up there for now, but expect to see it moved later!

Two things that can be true at the same time:

As a tabletop player, deliberately ignoring the GM’s obvious adventure hooks and going in the opposite direction just to be contrary is bad form; the GM is your fellow player, not your dancing monkey, and treating them like a vending machine whose buttons you can poke for unlimited creative content is a dick move  

As a tabletop GM, you need to furnish your players with a specific reason to engage with your adventure hooks, ideally one tailored to their characters’ particular interests; if you just go “hey, shit’s weird over here”, they have no way of knowing what response is expected, or indeed, whether any active response is expected – you might just be doing a worldbuilding bit, for all they know!
