11, Fusion Frenzy. Man, these were more challenging than I expected. Didn’t think I’d end up putting so much mental bandwidth into just two of them.

06 villain swap. Pictured left is Mana, the big bad of my gems’ story. I switched roles with her and Azurite, making Mana the hero and Azzy the villain for this drawing. I really like how I drew Mana here, it’s almost a shame to keep her as a villain 😅

05, cracked. I tried to rush this one because I feel bad for falling behind, but I think it all turned out fine for a sketch. Nobody said every drawing had to be a masterpiece right?

Kyanite is incredibly stubborn. Sustained by her own unbreakable force of will, even injuries that would dissipate the hardiest quartz can’t keep her down. “You will shatter me, or you will lose.”

04 Rebellion. I’m lagging behind 🫠

Carnelian and Azurite were among the first gems to stand up against the mass harvesting of gems from the Antioch colony, where the supergem Ember was incubated. Ember’s ideals were what drove the rebellion, and made Azzy realise the brutality she was inadvertently creating with her work.

Grimfae, a misunderstood species born from the leftovers of the circle of life. I received some questions about Blake, so I figured I should elaborate on what she actually is.

hey! i dont mean any offense by this, but please please please don’t use the word Wendigo to describe a creature like blake.

i’m native, and i’ve seen this repeated a million times before from other native voices. this creature, which i will call W for reasons i’ll soon explain, is from native stories and tales.

the story of the W was never supposed to get out of the native community, because non-natives appropriate it and turn it into something of a joke. i refuse to speak on how they are created for this reason, but i can say that we can’t speak it’s name, hear of it, write of it, anything. (same thing also goes for skinwalkers.)

it’s extremely offensive to native american folks to do this. i encourage you to use seed eater or wickerbeast instead (and things like fleshgait, alternate, or doppelgänger for S.W.’s.)

apologies if you are native, do what you wish then. but i can’t sit by and allow this to happen with the chance that you’re not native.

03, fight or fight. Kyanite is a general, and she acts like it. No conflict is too big for her to bite back with full force. Citrine on the other hand is a giant softie and absolutely cannot deal with trouble.

02, time to work. Azurite is a prodigy of an engineer; here she’s at work on a new gadget, preparing it for gem installation before completing assembly. The gem designated for this gadget is enclosed in a shatterlock, ensuring that it’ll never be removed from its housing in the tool.

Sometimes Blake can’t help the outbursts, when she briefly returns to her more monstrous true form. She wishes she could.
