Cinderella Boy Musical (cont).
I wrote some songs last year about CB which is why it says "cont" but I hid them in a reblog so ik not many people saw them.
Part 1 here
Most of the song ideas came either from @squeer-el's post or the tags left.
I format songs by humming/whistling the lyrics and having a lyric sheet to follow along; there's one exception 'cause there was no good way to do the overlay.
First song takes place during the beach boys arc, the night of Chase and Buddy's fight. Highlighted in teal are Chase's parts, purple highlights means Buddy, and white is for both. To help keep track, there's a pause when Chase and Buddy first switch parts, as well as during the "spoken" section which is skipped in the audio. It picks up at, "Were you really just gonna...?"
The // indicates singing simultaneously; pick whoever's lyrics to read.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then they make up literally the next day.
In this one- the parts where Buddy and Chase are alternating lyrics you'll notice neither is listening and each just doing his own thing. That was intentional- What was unintentional is how musically discordant it sounds so I would like to go back later and fix it.
As if coordinating two singers wasn't hard enough you bet your bottom dollar I tried to do 3. The setup I imagine for this is sometime soon after Goldie arrives- our keys are having a chat and my hc is he's the hype man of the siblings. Pink is Silver, green Bronze, blue Goldie, and white is everyone who has sung up to that point (basically Goldie isn't singing in the first chorus). Skip over stanzas that say [spoken] while reading.

The key images come from PNGtree
This song has gone through the wringer so many times- I swear I've tried to cut it down so it stays on point but auuugh I could not part with the bridge... Ik it sounds out of place. Maybe I'll find another place to put it-but for now- it stays.
Last song is also an expansion on an idea from my first post, the duet for Chase and Buddy that's supposed to be "For Good" coded. Again, there are small pauses when singers switch, or when it switches to both.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the only song so far that has no canon placement. I assume it'd be at a later point than we're at in the webtoon. Will update cause the lyrics may no longer make sense as the story progresses.
Unfinished ideas/bonus:
Still waters song about all 4 main character's fears coming to a head and pressure building up as they race to make it out. Narratively, it'd be like "Ready as I'll ever be" from Tangled. Think of the humor potential: we cut from Deacon and smol child panicking to bickering husbands.
Not a song idea so much as a production idea. I think the theater equivalent of Deacon and Prunella getting turned into paper should be covering them in TP.
In part 1, I mentioned at the end of "A Mysterious Key" that Chase got cut off as he was about to say "happy after all." Well. I wanted to write a song for the end of this musical surrounding that idea- maybe give each character a line summing up their arc when we get to that point. Below is what the last stanza of the song would look like.
Happy after all
Is said and done
We've overcome
The worst of night
Happy after all
That we've been through
Our wish came true
Happy after all
If I add to this concept in the future, it'll just be expanding on the songs already developed.
You guys have fun now :)

Expendable Lights
I already know one day I'll be embarrassed to have written this. It's an embarrassing feeling, and a slap in the face to people who actually care. Future me when you're reading this, I already know that. But I'd rather have a song to show for it than something I'll truly regret.
The lyrics are read right column top to bottom, left column top to bottom, then next page. 999 is pronounced "nine nine nine"

I'll wait for you to call
And if I wait my whole life
It won't be wasted at all
I'm fine to love you from afar
And if I don't see you again
I understand, it's just how things are…

Chasing the Sun
From a poem I wrote in highschool
Tumblr media
Sorry to say
Leaving this place behind
Our bags all packed up with a
Crumb of dumb luck
Why do we chase the sun?
Empty or full
Well there never was a glass
Empty and dull
Has forever been the path
Empty but null
An opportunity at last
To follow behind the light
Is it a fork in the road if there's nowhere else to go?
The question all lies in
Where's beyond the horizon?
Step on the gas of our infinite song-
No matter how long
How we strive to overcome
Our bitter work can't be undone
Maybe that's why, we're chasing the sun

Algo Nuevo
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aqui esta el original, va para 12 años ya.
For an extra time-waster step, here's what the lyrics translate back to in English:
It's difficult to be me
In a town where your value is judged
According to the weight you carry
Because I'm skinny, and weak
And I'm starting to believe them when they tell me how useless I am
My dad won't even let me go out when they're fighting and
(Ugh, what an embarrasment)
I won't stop being petulant
Until I kill a dragon
I'll convince them of how strong I am
Until I have to face
The beast that I should hate
And it got me to think
It's really, something new
[Chorus]:
It's time to take
Control of my life
But I have to search
If I want to understand it
My destiny
My enemy
My past and the entire world
Yes, I think it's time for something new
It's difficult to be me
Locked in a tower
Spending my life dreaming of travel
But, it's true that mother knows best
Although I feel jailed in my own home
Lights come out on my birthdays,
They give me hopes,
"Someday you will see them"
I ask to go, mother scolds me
And I can't believe, that I will never step on Earth
Until a man dares
To get into my tower
He offers to take me to the lights
Is it time for, something new?
[Chorus]
It's difficult to be me,
When my mother governs my life as if I were her doll
Suddenly I'm a princess with rules and without weapons
Without weapons!
Who does she think I am?
Less does it matter to her that I'm not ready to marry
All that's left for me is to rebel
She never listens, she destroyed my bow,
I ripped the tapestry, I run to get away from here
I find a spell
It can change my life
It's time to change paths
Now it's time for something new
[Chorus]
It's difficult to be me
Invisible boy
I come and go with the weather and ride on the wind
It's no sorrow being alone, there's fun, mischief
But 300 years you're killing me!
Who was I before I was me?
Strange question I know, but I won't stop thinking it
Because they pass me as if nothing
And I feel as if nothing-
I do, has a purpose
The moon elected me,
I could recover
Memories of who I was
How did I come to be, someone new?
[Chorus]
Don't let your mother, your father, the moon
Decide like that
Your life, belongs to you
Perhaps your destiny is, something new
[Chorus]

Espantosos esqueletos
He querido traducir la canción “Spooky Scary Skeletons” a Espanol ya hace mucho para que tenga la misma aliteración que la versión Inglés.  Salió dos días tardado pero no me voy a esperar otro año para compartirlo.
My take on translating "Spooky Scary Skeletons" into Spanish. I've always wanted to see the Spanish version have the same alliteration as the English version. It's two days late, but I ain't gonna wait a whole year to post this.

Oh my gosh thank you, I saw this morning but I didn't have time to reply until now.
If you want to know how these got written it's basically the process you see in the bonus section where I start out with an idea and maybe one or two lines of lyrics that have a sound to it. Then it kind of branches out from there by mixing different parts in different places. The duet that I put in the bonus section was actually the original version of "A Mysterious Key." I wasn't sure what words encompass their relationship yet since we're in the middle of it, so I used the melody instead for Chase singing about finding Silver because that already happened. Also the lyrics "he can't wait for" were written for Chase's song saying "I can't wait for" to mean he takes control of his life instead of waiting around for others. Then I realized the double meaning and changed it to be about Deacon.
Buddy's song was probably the easiest to come up with since I wrote it with whatever lyrics I came up with first and just stuck it together. I had planned to write it as a proper song with chords and everything. His song is the only one I wrote actual chords for (albeit just the chorus):
I didn't write the bridge until putting together this post.
For "Where the story begins," I originally didn't intend for the title of the song to be in the lyrics, I just thought it made a good title. But later into the process I had an idea for how to include it.
You were spot on to notice the language adapted for each character. When I was spoofing Buddy's song, I started with the lyrics "taking them keys," but he wouldn't play with grammar in that way so I changed it to "Those keys". The opposite logic applied to Chase, where instead of "They keep complaining" he first had, "But they won't abate." I didn't think he'd use that high a vocabulary word, at least not correctly. And when he says "endeavoring," it's to rhyme with "ever it," while ignoring that endeavoring is a verb, not an adjective. I'm glad you think it ended up sounding like the characters.
Your original post has great ideas, and I pulled a lot of inspiration from it as well as what other people were saying in the reblogs. So I'm glad you put the idea out there :)
P.s. How long did it take to understand this format of posting music?
Am I the only one who believes that CB would make a banger musical? Like, we could have Chase singing about wanting to become a star and at first it would all sound really happy, but as the story progresses we'll see him open up more and more about how much he tries (through the songs) and how sometimes it all feels pointless but he still doesn't give up. At some point Deacon would also sing about his parents' expectations and how he was never able to discover who he truly is and what he actually wants. As for 'Buddy', he would probably sing about how bad he is like he's fucking Onceler or something idk

Am I tough enough?
To be afraid
To try again
Am I tough enough?
To not speak last
To not bite back
Am I tough enough?
To fight alone
To lose control
Am I tough enough?
To give in fast
To forgive pasts
Am I tough enough?
Am I tough enough to be like you?

Can we actually write a musical? Like as a community? I've been workshopping a couple of songs we could use, but I don't have instruments.
The format for all the audio is me humming/whistling the lyrics. Idk if it's easy to follow or not cause I'm too used to the songs by now; let me know if you can understand it.
So on the first song I thought about changing the order of events so we're introduced to Chase at dance practice first and later on in the musical we learn about the keys when he does, not as part of a flashback.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Got the idea for this song from a PixMix @plibatooo made that said, "Don't follow your dreams, Chase them" [Adding 10/26, I saw it posted again in the discord- dude this is taking me forever]
The lyrics are a little corny on this one but Imma chalk it up to this being the kind of song Chase would write. Did his full name need to be part of the lyrics? I mean, I dig it.
Second up is where he finds Silver in the library.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To help keep track, this audio of this song starts on "It would be a bore," the humming part goes from "I am more than meets" to "acheive," and there's a stretch of silence which skips over the spoken part of "what's this" until "narratonin."
For this song, it really needs the instrumental because I think the part where Chase is looking through the book Silver came in needs to be longer and an instrumental break could continue the song while he speaks too. Possibly a windchime when he finds Silver's book.
Also when he gets interrupted, he was about to say, "happy after all" which I thought would be a cool theme for an end song. After all they go through, the characters still end up in a place they're happy with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wrote this in a way that could also serve as part of a reprise later. The phrase "He can't wait for" would change meaning from "he's anticipating change" into "he has to act if he wants to see change".
Also by that point Deacon would change the lyrics into first person instead of 3rd person cause he's no longer an outside observer of his life.
The one I wrote for Buddy is actually the oldest one, and not really tonally consistent with the other three. I made it back in May from a comment Punko made.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here's a couple bonus ideas that aren't fully fleshed out:
I'm gonna crush Diaaaaane
Her brioche tatses so blaaaannnnd
She's a disgrace to eve-ry sin-gle li-ving thing that bakes
Could just stay this length and be a gag of him singing to himself in the kitchen before Chase and Deacon walk into a scene.
What you don't know
Is how long for
I've wanted you to give me the light of day
But in your eyes
I'm just pest-sized
A nuisance you would rather go away
A song by Prunella where she's run away into the woods with Goldie and leaves a note saying she's gonna do everything she always wanted no rules 'n all. But as the layers peel back she reveals she's always looked up to Deacon and Chase even when they don't really notice her. Kind of ties in all their insecurities since they all feel not good enough, but it adds to Chase and Deacon's parts because now they're finding out Prunella always thought they were cool. They were good enough to her :')
Not a song, but we could have a jingle that indicates Simon is supposed to enter a scene (and then he doesn't).
I've got 3 concepts for a duet, first one is repurpose the melody of "A Mysterious Key". But maybe as a last resort cause a duet between Buddy and Chase should have a distinct sound.
You should've let me know // You should've let me stay
I would've held the door // I'd only get in your way
I'm waiting for a [come up w lyrics] // [also add lyrics]
I saw a tag by @toallthingscinderellaboy that said something like Defiying Gravity so I went to wicked for song inspo. Made a snippet, but thematically it ended up on par with For Good. Could be a duet or a Buddy song since he's probably going to change the most by the end of the comic.
How our lives have come to be so intertwined
It's written so that anyone who looks~
Would find
The change you've wrought in me
The change you've wrought in me
Other possible ideas would be a song that's like "I wanna know who you are" during Beach Boys arc. I'm actually halfway done with it because of how long this post is taking to make.
Feel free to add on to anything you see here, personally there are some songs I want to change- this is like a first draft (to everyone but me, this took months). I know they sound very same-y, so would love to hear what you guys would add to a CB Musical
Ok that's all I got for now-
Am I the only one who believes that CB would make a banger musical? Like, we could have Chase singing about wanting to become a star and at first it would all sound really happy, but as the story progresses we'll see him open up more and more about how much he tries (through the songs) and how sometimes it all feels pointless but he still doesn't give up.
