sam: i have a question.
toby: shoot.
sam: in the word scent is it the s or the c that's silent?
toby: fuck you. i’m going to be thinking about this all day.
cj: okay well cent is pronounced the same way as scent so i’d say the s.
sam: but sent is also pronounced the same way.
toby: okay, google says the c was added in the 17th century. so i guess the c is silent.
josh: plot twist. both the s and c are silent and the letter e makes the sss sound.
toby: josh isn’t allowed to talk anymore.

It’s my favorite episode not because it’s the greatest one but because it is one of the earliest examples of a healthy representation of mental illness. As someone who struggles with that, it meant so much to me for my favorite show to have an episode that talked about it. Leo’s story at the end is my favorite monologue of all time. I have a sticker of it on my computer that I’m looking at right now. I once told it to a friend that was really struggling and it helped me articulate how I felt and helped her understand that she wasn’t alone.
Anyway, Noël slaps.
The West Wing Season 2 Episode 10 “Noel” is one of the best pieces of television I’ve ever seen in my life
