“You were enough.”
The words stung more than Rin had been expecting them to. They had grown up together, running through the dirty old streets of the slums they lived in, protecting each other and trying to stay positive. There were nights that were cold and dark, and Rin feared for her life, but Yugo was always there to reassure her that it was okay — that he would always be by her side and he would never leave.
So much for that, huh?
“… Our dream is a lie, too.”
If Yugo wanted to make her crumble, he was definitely on the right track as Rin felt her heart smash into pieces. Their dreams had been everything to them. By saying that it was nothing but a lie… it felt as if he just wanted her out of his life for good. The bonds they shared were as good as dead.
At first, Rin didn’t know what to say. She just stood there in shock as she let the words sink in. She felt her eyes sting lightly, but she refused to let him see her cry. She would not back down from this. Was she upset? Of course. But most of all, she was…
Angry.
A painful wave hit the girl’s broken heart, making her place a hand on her chest as she winced. The pain wasn’t new to her, but it never failed to catch her off guard, especially after what happened with her counterparts back when Rin had been competing in the Friendship Cup. She was just grateful that Yuya guy had shown up and had managed to stop it before something worse happened.
Rin had no idea what it all meant, but she knew she had to her best to try and control her emotions. She never wanted to feel that darkness ever again. It scared her way too much to think of the alternatives. So with a deep breath, Rin let herself calm her anger down before she finally spoke up.
“Y-You don’t mean that…” The riding duelist stuttered out, the sadness in her heart making it hard to ignore the swirling emotions within her. “There’s no way that you would mean that after we spent nearly our whole lives on our D-Wheel - the same D-Wheel that I used to look everywhere for you when you went missing! I worried day and night about whether you were still alive or not! I even left the Friendship Cup semi finals when I found the guy that took you!” Rin grabbed Yugo’s arm, her orange eyes glaring into his as she tried to get through to him.
“I have crossed dimensions to find you, running around in circles just to make sure you were safe, because I care about you Yugo! So don’t you dare think for even a second that our dream was lie!”
The knight can’t find it in himself to have any remorse for his actions when he watches the girl in front of him wince. Any sort of pity for her was long gone once his mind was made up — here and now — that he didn’t need her anymore. It was a great nail in the coffin, with what she just said.
… Despite deciding that once and for all, though, his confidence wavers. She spoke from the heart, and his own is filled with a warm feeling he knew somewhat well as she goes off about their D-Wheel, their dream. How he went missing.
… It’s ignored. He chuckled with a bounce of his hassled shoulders and looked away with a smirk. “Yeah. Some good looking for me did.”
— Okay, well. Maybe he deserved having his arm grabbed for that. Shadow-filled cyan eyes were forced to meet absolutely burning orange.
That’s concerning. Considering she just proved from her emotional outburst that she’s another version of his own Rin. The Angel of Destruction.
This could easily get bad… but that didn’t stop him. He yanked his arm away, and proceeded to bark back. Just like it was another argument on the same old usual day of the week. Only more dire. Naturally.
“IT IS A LIE, RIN! Look at us! You’re not my Rin. I’m not your Yugo! But we’re the same. Right?! Get it in your head. There’s other versions of us. Ever think of that? Well, I’ve done better. I’ve seen them!
… And in their world… the Friendship Cup is just a load of crap. It’s just a plan to get Commons like us thrown in prison to be slaves! Trying to reach for their dreams… and if they fly too close to the sun?
They never see it again.
Oh. Also in those dimensions? The Friendship Cup causes so much /bullshit/, that the whole City breaks out into RIOTS!! It’s destroyed by it all.
Face it, Rin. The dream’s a bunch of shit. It was all based on lies.
It’s just… a bunch of horse shit… dressed up to look nice…”

“Not one word, not one gesture of yours shall I, could I, ever forget.”
@rinapplespice
What beautiful words, Rin. What wonderful, absolutely poetic words. Yugo loved hearing them. He really did. Even after all that had happened, his heart still had a weak-spot for you; even if it wasn’t as big as it was before. What Rin had to say was wonderful, and he loved how she put it…
.. Too bad that she said it as a way of saying goodbye.
Her hand was around his heart at her words, squeezing him into silence as tears threatened to bubble up, but they didn’t. He clenched his gloved hands at his sides as he stood there in his Obelisk Force uniform as she was making him have second thoughts… but… he couldn’t.
Rin… was his best friend. While she may have not have held his affections anymore, she still meant a lot to him. That was why he was here – meeting Rin at the very front of the Academy after learning that the Lancers were appearing in the Fusion Dimension. He should have stayed far, far away… but his judgement was in his old self’s favor, as the Doctor was left unaware of their arrival for now, and he only had one chance…
Once chance to warn Rin – and Yuzu, and Ruri apparently – that she was walking into a literal death trap. The Professor wanted her and her other counterparts dead, and Yugo… Fusion scum that he had become… wasn’t going to allow that.
While convincing Yuzu was a lost cause, he hadn’t lost out on Rin. While the Academy being out to kill her wasn’t what made her stop… Yugo revealing that he had chosen the Academy over the Synchro Dimension… did.
He didn’t want to go home… and that was the truth. How could he? After the warm bed, the warm food, and the… the now warm and venom-infused heart he had in his chest now, all because of what being the Academy’s shining star in Obelisk Force got him?
He wasn’t one to convince Rin to join them – that would just kill her eventually.
He wanted her safe. And at home. And away from this war that he was now on the opposition to her within.
He screamed his throat out, and he argued – they argued like old times as Rin didn’t back down easy… but eventually, she relented. And…
“Not one word, not one gesture of yours shall I, could I, ever forget.”
… Damn. Damn, did those words sting like a bitch, and urge him to cry his eyes out and run and hug her and throw the Academy away–
– But as the left side of his head felt like it was cracking open every other second, no. You can’t leave. You have everything you wanted here. Fortune. Fame. You’re not Commons trash. Stay here. Stay here… with Yuri.
… He couldn’t. And so, his hands shook at his sides, as he sniffled and fought the tears back.
“… Yeah. How could you forget a dork like me, eh? I’m–… I’m stubborn, and I never give up… and that’s what you like about me, right?”
Another sniffle.
“D-… don’t worry. I… I might be… here… a dimension away, but… I won’t forget you either. Won’t forget your nagging, won’t forget your voice… your smile…”
A LLLOUUD sniffle. Damn it. He proceeded to shake more. He wasn’t going to cry, damn it–
“I-… I’ll miss you, Rin… but… it’s safer this way. T–… trust me.
Stay safe back home… okay? … And… take care of everyone there. I wanna hear you won the Friendship Cup across dimensions, alright?! That you kicked everyone’s ass!!”
Another sniffle. He wiped his nose with his sleeve. His vision was blurring. This was getting harder–…
“Y–…. You need to go…
… Bye, Rin….”

“You have conquered me, and I am yours.” {fusionpredator}
@fusionpredator
Oh my. Now, that in itself was a huge compliment, wasn’t it? It wasn’t every day you were told by your fiancé, the strongest duelist in all of Duel Academy, that you’ve conquered him. That in itself was amazing... and Yugo wasn’t buying it.
He chuckled, stepping closer to the man dressed in purple before him -- a color that matched his blue so well -- with a shake of his head and a few clicks of his tongue.
“Tch, tch, tch... Yuriiiii~ Don’t say thaaaat. I couldn’t conquer you if I tried. If you’ve gotta put it like that, you’re the one who’s conquered me... I wouldn’t be who I am now without you.”
As he continued to approach the predaplant user, Yugo didn’t at all back down, even as by stepping forward, it lead to Yuri backing up. Even still, as Yuri’s possible steps were whittled down to nothing as Yugo approached, their bed against Yuri’s legs, blue boots still moved across the floor. He wanted Yuri to end up falling back onto their bed as a result of moving to join him -- and he wanted to be able to climb on top of him after the fact; be able to intertwine his fingers with his own as his knees held him upright on top of his lover.
And once Yugo got what he wanted, he inched his head closer -- slowly... slowly... -- towards Yuri’s lips.
“You might be wrong on me conquering you... but you are mine.
Right~?”
He used the chance to steal a kiss -- quick, but not at all chaste as he made sure there was a hunger to it -- a hunger for Yuri. .. But before Yuri could do anything to sate said hunger, Yugo pulled away again; squeezing the hand that held onto Yuri’s own.
“S’only fair, after all... considering that I’ve been yours for a long, long time...”
-- And once again, he eased his face back down, all too eager to claim Yuri’s lips with his --
“I love you.”
No more words. Without distance between them, Yugo wouldn’t allow it.

“There can be no peace for us, only misery.” {academy!rin}
@rinapplespice
“Oh, Rin Rin. I think you’re due for your next doctor’s appointment.” Yugo spoke as he approached his fellow Special Ops Obelisk Force member, his blue boots clacking against the hallway’s tile flooring. Once he was as close as close could be, her chest just an inch away from his own, he snaked his hands across her waist and hip, ending at her ass; hands hovering over it as his smirk was unfading -- bright against the clouded, cyan eyes he wore.
“Stuff like that’s for those weaker people in all those other dimensions. Right? We’ll beat them all down and show them that we’re the strong ones here. Especially those annoying Tops fuckers. Right?”
He took the chance to steal a kiss on her forehead; short, but sweet, and even afterwards, his smirk never left.
“This war is ours. And no one’s gonna stand in our way ever again!”

This is… unnerving, to say the least. Yuuri continues to grimace at his doppelganger for a few silent moments, not saying a word…
And then promptly flicks Yuugo’s forehead. Why? Even he’s not sure - mostly likely because he’s frustrated but doesn’t know what to do, and he can’t think of a proper response. Whoops. After that, Yuuri sighs and shakes his head, a grimace still on his face. Whatever happened to Yuugo is apparently so irritating that he can’t bring himself to tease him… or something like that.
“I don’t know, you still look like a buffoon to me,” he crosses his arms as he gives his lookalike another up and down glance. “… Although, judging by that tone… Another version of me? I can only assume you mean literally me and not Knight-kun or… the other one.” He can’t remember that guy’s name right now but it doesn’t matter.
Yuugo, like all the times he had given him tiny breadcrumbs of information prior to his last few tiny reveals, waited with ever so eagerly for Yuuri’s response. He had to wonder what it was going to be, how he was going to take it -- it was interesting seeing someone like him not knowing what to do with what was presented in front of him. It was honestly rather fun to have the upper hand on Yuuri for once.
That is... until Yuuri flicked his forehead, causing the bravado that had rubbed off of the Academia-bound Yuugo to fall to pieces, causing him to pull away with a yelp, reaching up at his forehead and rubbing where he flicked it.
“OW--! What the hell, asshole?!” He shouted, rather like the Yuugo Yuuri was more acquainted with. It was complete with his usual scowl of bared teeth. And of course, the typical response to his intelligence being called into question.
“Well, I’m not anymore, alright!? Tch. You’ve always gotta ruin my fun, don’t you?”
Once he had defended his smarts the best he could, it looked like it was no longer time for games as the playful and sinister atmosphere he had before didn’t dare return as he stopped rubbing his forehead finally, and stood strong with cyan eyes bright as ever as he collected himself to finally shed more less-teasing light on the truth.
“Yeah. It wasn’t our other counterparts. It was you. Academia had to do a lot to me to get me to behave with their goals, and it kinda left me braindead. You saw potential in me and trained me, and you were right...”
He motioned to the uniform he wore -- the unforgettable bright blue and white belonging to Obelisk Force, complete with the “DA” banner over his shoulder.
“This wasn’t just a disguise. This is my uniform from my dimension.
I’m a special member of Obelisk Force. Never thought you’d hear that, huh?”
#predatoryplants#( excuse my ass as I forget which style I wanted to go with for writing Yugo dhdfgsdg )#( Or Academy!Yugo anyway. )#( Oh Yugo. Once a hothead always a hothead. )#( But I love you anyway LMAO )

Yuuri keeps a steady gaze on his counterpart, seeming to think he has everything under control. He knows how to deal with this brat, anyways, it’ll be simple –
But then Yuugo laughs at him, like he’s an idiot. And says he’s not who Yuuri thinks he is. What the hell does that mean? He scowls at his lookalike, unamused by his antics. “If you’re not Yuugou-kun, then who are you supposed to be? Knight-kun? The Pendulum-using one?”
That expression on Yuugo’s face… stop that, he wants to say out loud. That’s my look. Yuuri approaches the other, until they’re truly face to face. Too many questions are racing through his head - how did Yuugo get here, how and why does he have an Obelisk uniform, what is he hiding - those are just a few.
He’ll sum these thoughts up with a simple inquiry. “Care to explain yourself, Yuugou-kun?”
He has a sinking feeling that this encounter is going to be much more complicated than he’d prefer.
Oh, he was enjoying this... he was enjoying how confused this Yuuri was getting in comparison to his own, who was by his side during his training and when he finally casted that old whiny version of himself aside. It was all too humorous, as Yuuri stepped closer and closer to him, closing the distance between them in the long hallway that awaited outside the Professor’s quarters. His smirk was unfading, even as the duplicate of his partner continued to scowl in his confusion.
Oh, this was all just too rich.
“Care to explain yourself, Yuugou-kun?”
Oh, gladly, Yuuri. And he was going to start by not batting an eye at that old nickname of yours.
Why bother, when it was fit him like the gloves he wore as part of his uniform? He simply chuckled with a light shrug of his shoulders.
“Yeah. Sure. Guess I could do that for ya...”
“I’m not the idiot I used to be. And I kind of need to thank you for that. Or, well...
A different you, anyway.”
Vague? Yeah. Playful and teasing? Yyeeep. Hm. Wonder who he got that from?
#predatoryplants#( this is not nearly a year old no absolutely not )#( THANK YOU FOR WAITING SO LONG HOPEFULLY THIS IS WORTH THE WAIT...)#( Decided to adjust to how you wrote the names and stuff too cause. why not. )

Hearing Yugo’s voice calmed Yuri’s racing heart down for just a moment, his hand squeezing his boyfriend’s shoulder to let him know that he was here for him if need be as he slowly helped him up to his feet, keeping his hold on him incase Yugo lost his footing.
“Are you sure?” Yuri asked, lifting his eyes up so he was gazing into his lover’s eyes. It was weird for him to see Yugo’s eyes sparkling when he was use to the clouds that had covered them from showing any emotion, but he wasn’t complaining. The last time Yuri had seen Yugo’s eyes without the usual cloudy haze was back when they were enemies, fighting for different things, with Yugo feeling nothing but hatred towards him. The Parasite Fusioner that had been surgically implanted in Yugo’s head had changed everything.

But if the parasite was gone… why wasn’t Yugo angry at him?
Why was he still so happy to be with him despite their past?
The Fusion duelist was brought out of his confused thoughts through Yugo pulling him closer, pink eyes keeping their gaze solely focused on the brand new cyan hues before him. He was going to have to start getting use to that if this was a permanent fix.
“I want to go with you. The damn bug just won’t let me say that!”
So Yuri was right — the parasite had been clashing with Yugo’s own desires. At least now he had the answers as to why Yugo had been in severe pain just moments before.
“Just fuck all of that!! I want to be with you!!”
Shit. Yuri didn’t a get a chance to compose himself, unable to stop his cheeks from heat in gum at Yugo’s sudden and bold declaration of his loyalty. It was hard to deny that his heart had skipped a beat at those words — that Yugo was so devoted to him that he would fight the parasite that had manipulated him in the first place. So what had happened to Yugo’s previous self? The one that hated him with every fibre of his being? Was that version of him gone forever?
Had Yuri’s love corrupted him so that the old Yugo could never return? If that was the case then good. Now nothing would tear them apart. Not if Yuri had anything to say about it.
Now that Yugo had declared his loyalty, Yuri just had to make this relationship a little bit more… permanent.
“…Fine.” He shrugged his shoulders as he pulled away, but it was clear from the amused smirk on his face that he was happy about the predicament. How could he not be? Yugo was going to officially be his.
As long as Yugo said yes.

“But if we’re really going to do this, then I have one request.”
Thankfully, Yuri was nice enough to go ahead and lift him to his feet for him -- ‘cause god only knows when he would get up for himself. Probably when he found the strength to, but.. that strength to stand up only came once he was back up. So, who knew when that would’ve been.
When asked if he was sure if he was fine, he nodded a few times in silence. He was still processing what had just happened to him -- still recovering from the fight he had just won.
But still -- he had something he wanted to say, while the parasite was kept at bay. And so... he didn’t hesitate. And Yuri’s reaction to his words was... a curious one.
Most of it went under Yugo’s radar. Even now, he wasn’t exactly quick on the uptake. Was that... blush? On Yuri’s cheeks? An eyebrow was raised, but the knight didn’t get to say anything further as his companion pulled away; causing bright, cyan eyes to blink curiously. The way he spoke was dismissive, yet there was something else in it... he pulled away, and yet... there was a smirk upon his face. Just what was Yuri getting at...? Confusion crinkled up Yugo’s brows as his face was once again expressive as it was before...
... But now, that expressiveness was trained on Yuri, and Yuri alone.
“But if we’re really going to do this, then I have one request.”
Well, hopefully it wouldn’t turn out to be as taxing as the last one...
Still rather confused as to what the Academy’s best was getting at, he blinked again as curiosity was written all over his face.
“What is it?” He asked, finally. Meanwhile, on the edge of one of the knight’s ears -- if Yuri still had a trained eye to anything... peculiar to his boyfriend -- slithered a quick, black, tiny blur as Parasite Fusioner went back to work on trying to find a place to sink it’s mandibles back into Yugo’s mind.
The knight wasn’t completely free yet, and that was made rather clear once, all of a sudden, Yugo clenched his eyes closed in an all too familiar spike of pain -- he could feel it working it’s way back to controlling him, as he grunted and held part of his face in his hand.
As fast as he, and possibly his beloved, could react to the spark of agony only Yugo could feel, it faded away... and the insect went back to scampering around for... a better place to situate itself in his skull.
He could breathe easy. For now. And he did. With a sigh, he put his hand down, his eyes still bright and clear -- not a cloud to be seen.
“... Make it quick,” he warned Yuri, “I don’t think Parasite Fusioner will let me stay like this for very long...”
a vow to the end.

Well, that talk with the Professor was boring and pointless, as he expected. Yuuri simply sighed to himself as he walked out of the room, hands on his hips. Keep searching for Hiiragi Yuzu… or something like that. There was probably - no, definitely more to the entire conversation than that. But he didn’t care at all.
Well, he had time to kill before he was due to cross dimensions, he might as well just wander –
Or not. Yuuri stops in his tracks and rolls his eyes. So that dumbass managed to infiltrate Academia somehow? Congrats to him. Now, how to react to such an achievement? Should he mockingly praise the other? Act confused? Be serious for once? He turns sharply on his heels to face his Synchro Counterpart, only to find – a lone Obelisk Force member instead. No, wait – judging by the other’s stance, it’s… Yuugou-kun after all?
“Hm~? And who exactly are you, again?” He might as well have some fun with this guy, first. It’s not like he’s a threat.
Huh. For just a tiny little while, was he actually able... to trick Yuri with his disguise? Or, well. Just the act of covering his face? The uniform wasn’t a disguise -- the only thing he didn’t normally wear was the mask. Either way, ha. That’s an achievement in itself, even if it was for just a half a second. The smirk that came on the fusion duelist’s face rather fast made it clear, however, that the confusion didn’t last very long at all.
Oh, har har. Trying to act like he didn’t know who he was. Please. It was obvious that he damn well knew what was going on... but was it obvious just because he had wizened up, after dealing with his own Yuri, or was it honestly clear as day? ... Did that even matter?
Regardless, Yugo couldn’t help but let out a short and not-so-sweet laugh from his comment.
“Not the person you think I am, that’s for sure.”
Once that bold and confusing statement left his lips that had been curved up into a smirk since his laughter before, he decided... it was time to do away with the helmet that his his face. Yuri knew what he looked like underneath, that was for certain... but there was still a side of him that he had yet to guess.
That he wasn’t just some synchro dimension weakling who had found his way into Academia. That he wasn’t just an ordinary pawn or play-piece like the Yugo he probably knew, oh, no. He wasn’t either of those anymore.
The facade was lifted, and a blue tuft of hair fell to frame the right side of his face, eventually yellow bangs brushed to the right were exposed, and finally... it was time to stop acting lie his past self.
Once the Obelisk Force helmet was off of the one who never honestly wore it, he held it in one gloved hand and let it stay there at his side, as he placed his free hand on his hip. The smirk stayed on his face, his features void of the usual underlying rage that he would’ve had in any other circumstance, from what he had known of other dimensions.
No; instead, he stood there and kept the confident, yet sinister expression on his face. Because the person he definitely wasn’t expecting... was to see Yugo himself, honestly and truly loyal to Yuri’s own cause.
But how long would it take for Yuri to figure that out, he had to wonder...?

starvedvenom:
It wasn’t every day that someone was thoughtful enough to give Yuuri presents. And what lovely gifts they were. Cascading out from the little unmarked envelope the letter had been sealed in a colourful waterfall of tormented faces. Mouths gaping open, contorted in frozen screams of terror. Yuuri had burst into delighted laughter as the cards fluttered to the ground, spinning on his heels like a child. With an invitation like that, how could he possibly refuse?
His blood began to thrum, singing in his veins as he entertained himself with imagining exactly what kind of foe might be awaiting him. And surely it would be a foe: not just anyone would or could waltz into such a secure facility and dispatch so many of Academia’s so-called elite soldiers.
Of course, Yuuri had wasted no time before heading the designated meeting place, curiosity burning in his chest. It was a lovely night after all, and it wasn’t like he had anything else to do. The full moon hung like a mirror in the dark sky, painting the pathways silver as the sweet fragrance of evening primroses fills the air. A perfect night as any to pursue such an intriguing mystery.
The quiet tap of Yuuri’s footfalls came to a halt, stopping a few paces into the courtyard. One of his favourite areas where the flowers’ aroma was at its sweetest. But the sight that greeted him was one he really did not expect.
At first glance, it was the boy from the Synchro dimension. The loud, blond one that somehow shared his own features. Except the expression he had on now was entirely wrong.
The opening insult was true to character, but everything that came afterward was disconcertingly jarring. On his side? How ‘crazy’ things are over here?
His first thought was, quite understandably, that his counterpart had quite possibly come unhinged. Twisted by the loss of his dearest friend. The defeated Obelisk Force soldiers could explain where he had gotten the uniform, but it did very little to explain the expression on his face. And from what he knew of his counterpart, a note seemed to be a touch too subtle.
Yuuri did not like not knowing what was going on. It was decidedly an annoying inconvenience.

“Let you in on things?” Yuuri asked, feigning ignorance even though the savage interest in his eyes likely gave it away. And the way he was not so subtly starting up his duel disk. “What ever could you mean? Though I must say, Yuugou-kun, blue really is your colour.”
For a while, Yugo stayed oblivious to the fusion duelist’s intentions hidden behind his acting, taking it at face value for just a moment before out of habit of being entranced by the eyes of the Yuri he knew back home, cyan eyes stared at purple fires he didn’t expect. While he definitely found that to be... interesting... he remained clueless. It took the familiar sight of a purple light forming into a sword of Real Solid Vision mass for him to get any idea of what was going on.
Why was he turning on his duel disk? Was he wanting to express things during a duel? He had no idea how the situation had come to this, forgetting for a moment that possibly, with a different Yuri than his own, perhaps sending a crap ton of carded Obelisk Force members wasn’t a good move to say that he came in peace...
From the words that fell from this Yuri’s mouth, Yugo had to wonder... was he not aware of other dimensions just yet? No, he had to have known. Unless he was in a dimension where he was in the fusion dimension from the get go rather than the synchro dimension, how else would Yuri know his name? Or -- well. The wrong version of it.
Out of instinct, he opened his mouth to bark back the usual correcting statement, but... he held his tongue. Why correct something that was completely true? After all, he had a certain dragon sleeping in his extra deck that could only be brought out between the union of a synchro dragon and a certain fusion-savvy parasite...
Instead, he just gave the Professor’s Pet a chuckle just before responding to the compliment flung his way.
“Yeah. This uniform does suit me, doesn’t it?” He said, getting into position to start up his own duel disk if he so needed to. But... for now, until he knew whether or not it was needed... why not give this Yuri a hint?
“Though, that just comes with being a member of Academia... right?”

fusionpredator:
Yuri was rather taken aback by his partner’s outburst. Yes he had expected some sort hesitant reaction, but nothing to this degree. It must have been the parasite. Hmph. Who would have thought that Yuri would find that bug so damn annoying?
“Why?” Yuri repeated one of Yugo’s questions before letting out a rather sinister laugh. “Because I can and I will. I have all this power and I want to use every single bit of it against anyone who dares to defy me.” His pink eyes gazed at his angry partner for a moment before letting out a sigh.
“The Professor and the Doctor will never let you leave this dimension. They see you as nothing but a pawn. But I…” The Academy warrior finally explained before pausing, trying to let his heart do the talking. God it was too sappy to even say those damn words out loud. Yuri had always had a hard time expressing his emotions when they weren’t of hatred or when he was mocking someone. It was especially harder when it came to Yugo. It was as if he had just lost the ability to speak.
“I… I care for you.”
Damn it. It wasn’t exactly the right words, but hopefully it at least got some of the message across.
“Those two are hiding something.” Yuri spoke up once more, his eyes gazing back to the ocean to try and get over the fact that he had just tried to confess his love true feelings for him. “There is something they aren’t telling us and I have a feeling it will end in our demise, so why don’t we beat them to it? If we card them, we can travel all across the dimensions and card anyone who tries to get in our way. Isn’t that what we’ve talked about so many times before?” Delicate fingers reached out and placed his hand over the one Yugo had on his chest, his smile just as lovingly sinister as ever as he asked his partner one last time.
“Come with me, Yugo.”
“A-augh…!”
What the hell?! Yuri watched as Yugo placed his hand on his head in pain, crying out from the torture in his head before falling to his knees. This wasn’t just any pain that he was going through. It looked as if Yugo was… fighting something.
Parasite Fusioner.
Damn it! That damn bug must have been trying to correct Yugo’s loyalties to the Professor. Shit. If the parasite was removed, then Yugo would be free from the pain, however there would be no way that Yugo would love him again. But if the parasite stayed, Yugo’s loyalties would be forever tied to the professor.
For once… Yuri didn’t know what to do.
Before he even had a chance to choose between his options, Yugo had finally calmed down. Yuri waited to make sure that his torture had stopped before slowly crouching down beside him, his hand placed on his shoulder and his eyes widening as soon as he saw Yugo’s face. His eyes… they weren’t cloudy any more. Instead there a shining cyan. But… did that mean that the parasite was gone? Was Yugo… free?
“Yugo… are you alright? Say something.”
The thing that made it harder on the parasite, was that Yuri had points to the argument that Yugo couldn’t argue against, or couldn’t agree more on.
The idea of Yuri using his power that Yugo damn well knew he had -- and honestly, pls step on him, Yuri -- to beat and card literally everyone -- besides him, right? Yuri was asking him to come with, of course he wouldn’t card him... right? -- Was something Yugo understood, and also, wanted to be there to witness. He loved seeing his boyfriend card people, he did it with such finesse...
But that was only one of the things that made the parasite’s job difficult. At the suggestion that Yugo was just a pawn to the Professor and the Doctor, it began to panic, doing it’s best to convince the knight that he still owed himself to the Doctor and Professor, but there had already been dents into it’s illusions it couldn’t fix.
“I… I care for you.”
And those four words were where things got far more difficult for the bug.
From that point on, Yugo fought back. It was a war between the parasite and his will, and with those words on his conscience -- that Yuri cared for him -- enabling his own feelings in the fact that it was evidence that they were returned... and that was enough motivation to bark back at the impulses it was giving him.
Very little of Yuri’s words beyond that point reached him. It was in one ear and out the other thanks to the war within his mind. Luckily, though, it didn’t last long, and Yugo... was the one who won.
As Yuri’s hand was felt against the shoulder pad of his uniform, Yugo finally came back to the land of the living, and lifted his face up to have bright cyan meet shocked purple. Yugo was far too shocked to notice that himself, but at the very least, it was mutual.
It was mentally exhausting, really, to fight off a parasite that was keeping you in line the entire time. So the brain fog he was facing as a result was just a given. Thankfully, Yuri, as unawares of it as he was, gave him ways to deal with it -- get through it. To help him through it without knowing it.
“Yugo… are you alright? Say something.”
“.. Yeah.” He finally spoke, before shaking his head lightly. “Yeah, I--I’m alright...”
He placed one of his gloved hands on Yuri’s own shoulder to lift himself upright -- but no force towards standing up was given.
It was so strange... to not feel the parasite, or the voice of his weaker self...
He was free. He was honestly, truly free. And it was.... weird. But... as the brain fog began to fade at last, he realized the opportunity he had before him. What he had fought for.
He placed another hand on Yuri’s other shoulder, his grip on his boyfriend tightening as he pulled him closer to him.
“Yuri.” He said, stern and sure of himself, as cyan eyes glistened with every intent he held in the words he was about to say, and also with the affections he had held in his heart. Affections... that had finally been set free in their entirety. “Forget everything I just said. I want this.
I want to go with you. The damn bug just won’t let me say that! Card the Professor. Card the Doctor. I don’t care about those assholes like that! Especially if you’re right and they... they’ll just hold me back...
Just fuck all of that!! I want to be with you!!”
a vow to the end.

rinapplespice:
Rin hated this. She hated every bit of it. How was she suppose to accept that this… monster in front of her was the one who had her heart? No… This couldn’t be right!
She tried to make sense of everything that Yugo was saying, but one thing caught her off guard. “You didn’t have a choice?” Even though she hesitated at first, Rin took a step forward, placing her hands on his shoulders, gazing at him in concern. “Who did this to you…? Who would force you to join the Academy?!”
“Doesn’t mean I regret it, though.”
Rin froze at his words, her eyes wide as she tried to process his words. He didn’t regret it?! How could he say that?!
Hands that had been placed so delicately on his shoulders immediately flinched back, returning to her sides in both fear and anger. This had to be a dream - some sort of nightmare. There was no way that any of his words could possibly be true!
“It’s great being over there, Rin~ It really is~”
SLAP!
Orange eyes filled with tears as she gazed at the red hand print that appeared on Yugo’s cheek, her right hand stinging from the impact. Never in her life had she slapped Yugo like that before, but she had let her anger get the better of her and she refused to back down.
“Y-You… You’re doing this for status?! For some dumb credit?!” The riding duelist snapped, staring at him in disbelief. To think that he would stoop so low to sound like one of the scumbags from the tops made her heart break. “Yeah our life hasn’t been perfect, but we had each other! I thought that was enough! Did you just forget everything we ever dreamed about?!” Shocked eyes quickly turned into a glare as she tried to reason with him, focusing her pain into anger.
“What about carding people? Are you perfectly okay with practically sentencing people to their deaths?!” Rin shook her head, clenching her stinging hand into a fist. “No. I refuse to believe that this is really you! I don’t know what happened to you, but I will do whatever it takes to bring you back!”
Oh. For a brief instant, did she feel... sorry? For him? She stepped closer and placed her hands on his shoulders, asking who made him change sides. Yeah, she was suddenly back to being her usual self again, wanting to help him out. As if he wanted it. And all because he said he didn’t have a choice in his new life...
Well. It was true... but he had long since accepted it.
And when that fact reached her ears, of course she backed away. Of course her hands left his shoulders right away. Honestly, with what he knew about what happened in other realities, he couldn’t blame her.
But... was this Rin aware of the same things he wa--!
SMACK!
His thoughts were ruined by the stinging sensation against his cheek, that persisted even after he had turned his head away from the force. Too bad for her, she smacked him on his right side.
So until he looked at her again, she would have to keep seeing the red, burning mark she left on his face.
He wasn’t even trying to torture her with the sight -- he honestly didn’t move because... well. Damn. That hit him hard. A tiny part of him made peace with it -- he guessed he deserved that...
“Y-You… You’re doing this for status?! For some dumb credit?!”
Of course she was lecturing him over it -- it was Rin, after all. He didn’t reply, he just kept his lips pursed and his face away, but unbeknownst to her, the answer was ‘no’ -- but despite how he had answers to her claims, that had the power to prove her assumptions wrong, he didn’t argue back. He didn’t move. He didn’t move an inch until the tail end of her little ramble.
“I thought that was enough!”
She then decided it would be a wonderful idea to ask the person who had had his mind toyed with for months if he remembered their past, as he let his cyan eyes stare at her intently; a scowl on his face. He asked about their goals. Their dreams.
Neither of them were going to back down easily, that much was obvious. And if Rin had asked him that just a few months back, he would’ve said ‘yes’... but now, he truly remembered, and the answer was still ‘yes.’
Yes, he knew exactly what Rin was talking about -- (At least, now he did.) -- about their hopes and dreams. Back then, during those moments at the Commons where he didn’t care that he didn’t have parents as long as he had Rin and didn’t know he was a piece of the world-saving Zarc at all, just having her around was enough...
But the truth of the matter was, that while the treatment he went through to get where he stood now, in Obelisk blue and proud, took those memories and either did away with them or took some... artistic liberties... it opened his eyes.
Sure. The actual Commons weren’t the debris-filled, absolutely wrecked and trashed place that the Parasite made him think they were, but there was still a lack of proper resources. Proper care. And, honestly. Having a bed he’s had since he was 8, dented and worn being the only thing he could sleep on, may have been better than the lie that he didn’t have one at all, but...
When you’ve lived your life on a comfortable bed, getting healthy and proper food, in a place that not only kept you protected, but valued you, and didn’t at all see you as trash or scum or someone who’s only place was in jail...
... Why would you want to go back?
He could remember the last few days, where he stayed up at the top of the tower, headstrong and certain that Rin would come to rescue him, if he didn’t get out himself, and it honestly hurt -- knowing that he had betrayed his own Rin, but...
He had changed. Things have changed. He meant what he said. He didn’t regret it. It just hurt a little to realize just how much of how he used to be had died.
His expression fell, eyes darting downwards as his scowl left and became a thoughtful small frown. He was still listening to her, that was for certain, as she went off about carding. He didn’t even pay that subject any mind, as he mourned his old self. He had made himself numb to carding ages ago, and only cared about making Yuri happy with his efforts. He didn’t care about that anymore..
“I refuse to believe that this is really you! I don’t know what happened to you, but I will do whatever it takes to bring you back!”
-- Now, that. Got him to take notice again. He blinked, and stood up tall. His mouth hung open for a tiny while, as he still had yet to finally get over mourning his past, but with a few blinks, and a well placed tiny scowl, it was easier than he thought.
“Who says I want you to bring me back?” He said, lacking the confidence and power that his voice had before. It was meek, compared to before. It didn’t last long, however. As he spoke, it all returned. “I told you! This may not have been my choice, but I like it here! I’m not some trashy kid that doesn’t deserve anything -- I’m one of the Academy’s most priced soldiers! Yeah, back then, you were enough, but when you’ve got an actual bed, actual food, actual protection and you’re not being called scum every day?!
Who would want to go back there...?! The City won’t change, Rin.” He said, stubbornly, a gloved hand clenched into a fist at his side. “It’ll only get worse and fall apart.
... Our dream is a lie, too.” He finally hissed out. Using ammo from what he knew of other dimensions against her? Probably a low blow, but it was the truth. He wasn’t there for his riots, but considering the similarities the dimensions where Zarc was a mass murderer and a world destroyer in Ray’s place? He was sure her dimension would be in pieces as well, no matter which Ray fragment she was. Either the heroine, or the killer.
And honestly, he was hoping she wasn’t the killer. “Berserk mode” was never fun....
#rinapplespice#( holy SHIT I thought he'd be a dick when I replied to this but HOLY SHIT ACADEMY!YUGO )#( Oh MAN!!! )#( Also holy shitballs did this get long. WOW. )

appleshipping?
“Appleshipping? And that’s….
… Me and Rin, huh?”
He paused, cyan eyes looking down on the floor as a pensive look covered his features. One green heartstring out of several that had already been severed and replaced with purple had been plucked, singing a sad melody within him… before fading out as Yugo closed his eyes, his expression softening, but not lifting.
“… Maybe before the Academy changed things for me…. gave me a home that wasn’t the Commons, gave me someone who admired me and didn’t see me as scum who’s only place was in jail.
I’ll be honest. Back when we were kids, and inseparable… I… I loved her. Maybe,” He said, with a hand over his heart, “part of me still does, somewhere…
.. But I’ve moved on. To bigger, better things.
Yuri has my heart now. And I don’t need her nagging anymore.
Things change. And that’s how they’ve changed for us.”

“And that’s.... Oh!
Yuri and me.”
A dark chuckle left the knight as a smile stayed on his face.
“I think you already know how I feel about that one; but in case you don’t...”
He lifted up a gloved hand, a ring reflecting some of the light in the area.
“Hi. I’m going to be his husband once everyone else is nothing but cards.”

Doesn’t have to be directly related to them, but it’s preferred that it at least involves characters they’d know. Easier for them to form an opinion.

It was far too painfully easy to sneak into the other Academias that were out there, if you asked him. But then again, that was just a given considering the uniform he still wore even after being given a special rank back where he was from. All he needed from that point was a helmet, and he made sure he never left his dimension without one.
He blended in just fine — no one was the wiser about someone from the Synchro Dimension being within their ranks, or walking through their halls. No one had any idea…
Which was perfect for him.
He was on a mission. Well, not entirely. If he didn’t find what — or rather who — he was looking for, it was no skin off of his back and certainly not anything he’d get into trouble for later.
It made no difference. It was just fun.
— And there he was; leaving the Professor’s room after a chat per usual, the infiltrator assumed, but now was his chance. After making sure the coast was clear and no pesky students or Academia soldiers would interrupt them, he found a hiding place nearby and decided to make himself known in a… less than direct way. A gloved hand cupped his mouth as he shouted to the duelist he was after.
“FOUND YOU, YOU BASTARD!!” He mimicked — was it counted as mimicking when you were mimicking yourself? Eh, anyway, after that distraction, the “Obelisk Force” member, as he appeared, stepped out into the hallway with his hands by his sides. If the other duelist in the room payed attention to his posture, he may be able to figure out what exactly was going on…
Would he reveal himself and take off his helmet? Hm… not just yet.
Yugo wanted to have some fun with him first.

—— And just like that, things were normal again.
Yugo let out a breath as he finally came to after sharing a mind with the other three parts of himself, keeling over just a tad from the exhaustion of the “berserk mode” event. Cyan eyes met the floor, and once his bearings were gained, something… didn’t seem right with the boots that he now found himself staring at.
“… Huh… didn’t I have… white boots on before? What’s with these blue ones? Actually…”
He placed a hand on his chest just before tugging at the collar of his new shirt.
“When did I get into this stupid stuffy outfit? Where the hell am I, anyway? Last thing I remember is the Academy was trying to brainwash me, and—…”
— and then the casual-ness of the situation completely fell apart.
Was that a “DA” logo on the sash that went over his left shoulder? Didn’t that mean that this was… a Duel Academy uniform…?
“… W—… Wait. H-hold on…”
Why was he wearing a….?! Memories came back to him in a flash — right before his eyes as he remembered putting it on with clouded eyes — a gift. From the person who considered it his “graduation” from his own personal training.
That stupid pretty boy that he fucking hated.
As he dealt with those memories rushing back to him, he lifted up the arm he hadn’t looked at just yet… to begin shaking as he found a duel disk on his arm — mid-duel, and not just any duel disk…
But his own.
More memories came back of him personally modifying it to fit Academy standards — two swords, crossing together; like his old disk motif — much to… Yuri’s… approval.
But the card…. the card on the disk is what was the nail in the coffin. Black sludge from Real Solid Vision dripped onto his shoulder just after he had ready the card’s name… and the materials needed to summon it.
After the sludge made him jump, Yugo reluctantly, as his entire body began shaking in his shock, looked up at the dragon that was behind him, ever so loyally.
Clouded Wing Fusion Dragon. A Wind-type monster that could only be summoned by the union of Clear Wing… and Parasite Fusioner.
The only memories that he had once he was free of whatever had kept him under their control finally clicked in with everything else. Thrashing against a hospital bed, the eventual injection of anesthesia that put him to sleep…
… and waking up a completely different person.
So many of his memories.. skewed. Changed. Modified for the Academy’s benefit, and now…. Well. Now thanks to the power of Zarc and his dragons who saved the world… he was free… but at what cost?
All his mind knew now was pain, as all of the memories he gained as an Academy soldier came back to him. They all clicked into place… and…
Finally… the stricken synchro dimension resident finally remembered that in this duel….
He had a partner. A partner that he had been inseparable from since the graduation from his training. A partner that he found himself holding hands with… then embracing… then… kissing…
Cyan eyes were wide in absolute disgust and horror as he looked to his left and saw….
Yuri.
… He couldn’t take it anymore. Everything. Everything in his system had to be released… and that was in the form of…. an absolutely horrified scream.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!”
