That was a memorable day to me, for it made great changes in me. But it is the same with any life. Imagine one selected day struck out of it, and think how different its course would have been. How I picture the beginning of Chain of Iron

Now with James Herondale. The emperor and empress Major Arcana cards from the tarot by Gabriella Bujdoso: the Emperor card represents leadership, and a mastery over the “worlds of matter” — dimensions, perhaps! I love how James’ crown is shadows, and Cordelia’s is fire.

Clockwork Princess, page 107: Will POV: “‘You kindled me, heap of ashed that I am, into fire.’ He had wondered once why love was always phrased in terms of burning. The conflagration in his own veins, now, gave the answer.”

Lady Midnight page 542: Emma POV: “She could understand suddenly why people talked about passion as fire: She felt as if they had caught aflame and were burning like the dry Malibu hills, about to become ashes that would mix together forever.”

Chain of Gold page 379: Cordelia POV: "The feel of his body all along hers scorched her blood. She understood now why poets said love was like burning. The heat of it was through her and in her, and all she wanted was more- more kisses, more touches, to be devoured by this like a forest by a wildfire."

Here is a scene from that period when James, after being expelled from the Academy, was sent to Cirenworth and contracted scalding fever! 

One of those rare scenes we’ve seen so far where I imagine him looking at Cordelia rather then the other way around, since she is too concentrated in the reading of her favourite book!
