So how is it that second-hand embarrassment is the single most powerful and weakening emotion one can feel from media?

Tragedy? Delicious.

A hard-earned happy ending? Wonderful.

Simple slice of life? It’s entertaining.

Second-hand embarrassment? Hang on, g, I gotta pause this for fifteen minutes, no, I cannot continue watching this right now, I am just not strong enough.

in third grade on the swing with my friend i announced “i figured it out” and my friend said “figured what out” and i said “the meaning of life!” and being third graders this was very exciting so she leaned in and i whispered in her ear “it’s to have fun” and i don’t remember her reaction but i remember how i felt and how i knew so clearly that was the answer. how my small mind was beaming and shimmering with this answer that makes me scoff today but i know that they were right. i was right

i love that Neve canonically throws hands. like she’s a literal mage there’s no reason for her to be doing all that but she will get right up close and physically fight enemies in this game. woman of the year

you dont have to be a parent to understand the horror of walking into a room to discover that the baby crawled out of his crib and onto that pottery wheel you forgot to turn off, and while the baby is spinning around and around, the dog is sitting there all calm, like a person, gently using his paws to fashion the babys soft cartilage head into something a little more modern.  it might be the classic tale of bad parenting, but lets see where the dog is going with this

i have talked at length about the pitfalls of loz's writing and the racism wrt to ganondorf's writing specifically but one thing that never fails to make me laugh when i think about it too hard is like. ganondorf in oot and totk is supposed to be this genius manipulative mastermind but both games portray him as very Cartoonishly Evil so you just get this really funny canonical reality where everyone is acknowledging his Cartoonish Evilness but just does nothing about it
