After a few days, Andi couldn’t take it anymore. Was it going to be like this ALL summer!? 

“Xi...honey...can we talk?”

“What about Dad?” She dished out some fruit parfait she just finished. 

Dad. Not Daddy. His heart broke a little. “Honey...I know you are mad at me...and I am really sorry for that. I just...I want you safe, but I also get that you want to enjoy your summer. I just...please talk to me sweetie. Please. Your pops can’t handle this, my heart isn’t so good anymore...”

Xialla looked at him, her eyes downcast and lonely. “What are we even gonna talk about Dad? I want to go...you know, hang out with Sage and Taylor. Go bowling. Maybe camping? Or a sleepover!!! I’m not five anymore Dad...” She sniffles. “I just want to experience life a little bit outside of this house, my room, the basement. I won’t live here forever Dad. I want to go to college!” She turned sour. “But with the way you are, I’ll never be able to.” 

“I...I see.” Andi didn’t know what to say, but he had to say something. “Well...I’ll think on what you said, and...maybe some of those things, for this summer, aren’t completely off the table.” Afterwards they went to do their own things, with Lyssa grinning from the dining room.

Xialla spends all her time away from her father as much as possible. There were so many chores after all! Will she ever forgive him? He isn’t so sure now...

Xi still hasn’t spoken to Andi. She comes home, eats, goes straight to her room, and does her homework. She texts Taylor or Sage. She loves her Mom, but dislikes her Dad right now. Andi tries to remain hopeful that she will eventually come around. He just wants her safe! Meanwhile, everything in the house seems to be going wrong, particularly with the animals.

Whiskers kept coming back filthy and dirty. Andi was extremely depressed, worried about the future, his family, his absentee son (Cayson hasn’t called when he promised he would), but most of all, his daughter. Lyssa was troubled by all the tension in the house.

“Sick setup, Mr. Brooks. Xi, I gotta go catch the bus, I hope that headache of yours goes away! Hey Mr. Brooks, where can I find vine rugs like these?”

“I’ll see you to the bus stop Sage. Xi, I’ll be back in a few minutes.” 

When Andi got back, Xialla refused to speak with him, feeling choked and smothered. 

“Leave me alone Dad.” Andi felt defeated.

Whiskers ran off. That cat was difficult to keep confined. Red whines every time she leaves, that’s how Andi knows when she’s gone. Sage was coming over more and more these days, but one day Andi went down to see if he could talk to Xi and he found...Sage in her room. Her very secret, Mother-and-tech guarded room...fixing the scientific shower.

Xi came home with a strange girl one day, and she was crying. Apparently this girl’s name is Sage. Andi did some digging into her during her visit and found out that Sage Barraza lived in a small apartment in the Spice District of San Myshuno. She usually skips classes and is a bit of a troublemaker, which is why she’s in summer school. Andi also learned (by overhearing the girls talk during the indoor soccer juggling match) that they were partners on a paper. His concerns over Sage went away when he noticed Xialla had a headache after the soccer match.

With Cayson off living with his friends and Oscar at his specialty program, the house is quiet, as is life. Andi enrolled Xi in summer school. She still isn’t speaking to him. Andi goes to work. Lyssa is working on videos and song-writing. Whiskers still misses Cayson. Red guards over them all. 

Life is quiet...but he misses the chaos.

TW: Drugs

Of course, they didn’t just relax. They had recreational planting going on, gaming, curing...Ethan invited Cayson out to fish with him, and they talked about what Ethan wanted to do with his new house. He really liked it out here, he wanted to fix it up and maybe start a family. 

“Sounds good man!” Cayson was happy for his friend, and glad he could be here to experience it with him. This summer was amazing!

Cayson spent his summer making videos, paintings, partying. Enjoying his time off of school, enjoying his newfound freedom and life. He hit up every festival in the city, he honestly enjoyed being in the city. The country is nice, but the city is where it is at for him! Lucia and her friends met them one night for Humor and Hijinks, and a fan actually asked for Cayson’s autograph! He’s proud of that. He and Lucia also made up from him being a jerk.

Cayson and his friends are staying at Ethan’s new fixer-upper for the summer, in the Windenburg countryside. The accommodations are...not the best to be honest, but they all enjoy it to an extent. It’s like camping!

Cayson and the boys partied long and hard at the Blue Velvet Reno in Willow Creek. Lucia’s comments melted away, as did his irritation with her. He had been a bit harsh a while ago, but the drink helped him to forget. He could stop whenever he wanted, really.

“Sims for medicinal herbs! Free the oppressed! Free the herbs! Free the herbs!” Cayson had come to San Myshuno with some other people to fight for legal medicinal herbs. It was a good cause, why not?

“Cay?” Her voice made him drop his protesting.

“Lucia? Oh hey, what are you doing here?”

“Girls day out to the city, before summer school. You?” She looked gorgeous as always, but perturbed at his actions...

“You’re doing summer school? Why not take the summer off and enjoy it?” 

“My scholarship only lasts so long, and I want to be out of school sooner rather than later to start my career and pay bills off. There will be time for enjoying myself once I have money to go on vacations and things! Taking a few summer classes won’t hurt me.”

“But what’s the point? We’re young and crazy NOW, we should enjoy it! Want to go to a party later, I can show you what I mean.”

Lucia stares at him. “I’ll be on the train back to Britechester, I have classes tomorrow, maybe next time Cay.”

“Classes are stupid, just skip.”

“Cayson, no!” She’s shocked. “I don’t know what’s gotten into you, but I am going to go now, text you later.”

Friday came sooner than we expected, which meant it was time for bowling! I saw Olive again, but Blake and the gang dragged me into the bowling bar. It’s time to get this party started!

In-between training I get to relax and play some video games...at least until the laundry caught on fire! Sarge, Blake and I put Braden out. The next morning the meeting was, of course, a lesson for us ‘idiot younglings’ about taking out the lint before every dry cycle! I found it funny, but everyone just looked at me. 

“Here man, a selfie for posterity before you burn to death next time!” 

“Gee, thanks Brooks.”

“Say cheese!”
