my ancestors came from modern day Belarus, Poland, Lithuania, but my ethnicities are not Eastern European, polish, or Lithuanian because my ancestors did not fit in with those populations. You can support Palestine without spreading this harmful misinformation.

tw death
do people still use this app?
anyways, forever jealous of those with Jewish grandparents/great-grandparents who lived until their 80s and 90s
i never got to know any of my great-grandparents on my mom’s side bc they all died before I was born and it makes me sad
my grandma didn’t even know her birth mother bc she died of cancer in her 30s
also i was foolish for thinking my grandma (Mimi) would be at my wedding/meet my kids if any of those events happen but NOPE!
i also didn’t get to know my grandfather
longevity doesn’t run in my family, but lots of trauma and health issues do

“If you take away the Jewish contribution to Christianity, there would be no Christianity. Judaism does not need Christianity to explain its existence; Christianity, however, cannot explain its existence without Judaism.”
— John Hagee (So, Hagee is a Christian author who I don’t like but I love this quote. It’s absolutely true. Christianity wouldn’t have a leg to stand on without the Jews. It’s kinda weird that he said this, I wonder what the context was?)

“Old Testament” is an unconscious piece of anti-Judaism. “Testament” means “covenant.” To say that the Jewish Bible, or the TANAKH, is the old testament implies that the covenant that God made with Israel is old — as in, outmoded, out of step, out of style. To put it in computer terms, the old covenant needs an upgrade — to a new covenant, a new testament — through Yeshu. For that reason, many sensitive Christians no longer refer to our Bible as the Old Testament. Some refer to it as the “first testament.” Some even respectfully call it what we call it — the TANAKH.

this is beautiful
“He [Franz Rosenzweig] came up with the “two covenant” theory, a way of affirming the religious validity of both Judaism and Christianity. Judaism and Christianity, he taught, needed each other, and God’s plan for humanity needs them both. Christianity needs Judaism to remind it of what pure, uncompromised ethical monotheism looks like………But Judaism needs Christianity to remind us that the Word of God is not meant to be kept for ourselves alone. We are called on not merely to live by God’s ways, but to do it in such a manner that the world will be persuaded to turn to God.”
— Harold S. Kushner

“Jesus we behold you lying in the manger…We see you as poor, in order to teach us that true wealth does not reside in things but in persons, and above all in the poor: forgive us, if we have failed to acknowledge and serve you in them.”

me suggesting making challah during Christmas season to connect with our heritage and my fams like “no” and I get it’s a trauma response not wanting connection to our jewish heritage but it’s sad
(for context: my cousins and I’s mothers converted to Christianity prior to us being born)

honestly really glad I didn’t find out that my mom was a convert to Christianity from Judaism and that her whole side of the family is Jewish because I would have been confused
knowing now though, and learning about how the church and the world has treated my family members, my ancestors, all in the name of Jesus absolutely breaks my heart though, and I can feel myself questioning everything…
In the back of my mind I knew that Judaism was more than just a religion but I never knew the extent of how much the Jewish people had to fight to survive, and if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be on this earth
