After their first kiss, James definitely just stood there like: “…” Hands still hovering like he’d forgotten how arms worked. Eyes wide. Glasses crooked. Brain completely empty. Lily Evans. Had just. Kissed him.

Lily pulled back half an inch, tilted her head, and said flatly, “That’s it?”

James made a noise that might’ve been English once. Lily didn’t wait: just rolled her eyes, grabbed the collar of his robes again, and kissed him again. Longer this time. Slower. More certain.

When she pulled away, James blinked like he’d just been hit by a rouge Bludger.

“…Okay yeah,” he breathed, cheeks now tinted pink. “ That’s definitely it.”

Lily grinned, looking like she’d just discovered magic all over again. “Try to keep up, Potter.”

Sirius sits on his bed twiddling his thumbs, waiting for Remus to come back from his study session. He can’t do this anymore, pretending that kiss on his birthday meant nothing. Sure, they were both pretty drunk, and Sirius had never thought about boys that way before, but he can’t get him out of his head. Things have been awkward between them since then, he’s been avoiding Remus while he figures out why he liked kissing him more than anyone he has before and finally came to a conclusion today. He likes Moony more than he has ever like anyone else he has been with.  

The door opens and it can only be one person - he asked James and Peter to give him the dorm for a few hours, and they were quick to agree as soon as he mentions Remus, obviously having noticed the tension between them recently.  

Remus furrows his brows as he sees Sirius sitting in the middle of his bed. “Hi,” he says, confused.  

“We need to talk.”  

He sets his bag down then brings his desk chair over to him, not wanting to get too close. “Well?” he asks after some uncomfortable silence.  

He takes a deep a breath. “Your birthday…”  

Remus clarifies quickly, “Didn't mean anything.”  

Sirius’ heart drops. “Oh…yeah…”  

“That was what you were going to say, right?”  

Looking into his hazel eyes, Sirius decides to risk everything for the smallest possibility that he feels the same. “No. I was going to say the opposite actually.”  

“The opposite? You mean that it did…Are you messing with me?”  

“What? No, I’m not. I- that night, I’ve never felt anything like that. No one has ever made me feel like that before, safe but also excited and electrified. I haven’t been able to think of anyone else but you.” The room descends into silence, the only sounds their rapid breathing. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said anything, or maybe I should have said something sooner, but I was scared…”  

“You were scared? You always seem so fearless when it comes to things like this.”  

“But I’ve never been with my best friend before,” he explains. “I don’t want to ruin things.”  

Remus inhales deeply. “So, what do you want?”  

“You,” he breathes.  

Remus gets up and grabs his face between his hands, their lips connecting. Electricity courses through his body, infinitely better than their first kiss as they both know exactly what it means this time. They both… “Wait,” Sirius pulls away. “Does this mean you like me too?”  

“Sirius, I’ve been in love with you since third year.”  

“Third?” Remus’ cheeks turn scarlet, adorably so. “You’re an idiot,” Sirius murmurs fondly, and pulls him towards him again.

Barty and Regulus are those kids who teachers think are sweet little angels but all of the students are confused as hell because those are the two meanest people you will ever meet

academic rivals! dorlene but they're complete opposite students.

dorcas studies every day for minimum 6 hours and has perfected her study tactics. she obsessively takes notes in class, to the point where sometimes she's just copying down what the prof is saying verbatim. she had a breakdown the one time she got an 89 on a test. everyone is scared to talk to her during finals week. she makes other people cry during group projects.

but marlene? marlene doesn't try at all. she does her homework thirty minutes before class and gets great marks on it. she's never paying attention in class, but she always argues her way into the right answer when she's called on. she's shocked every time by a good test score. she has phenomenal grades but does not know why or how.

this infuriates dorcas to no end. she is sooooo upset that marlene can just skate by on brains alone, but marlene gets soooo upset that dorcas is such a try-hard.

headcanon that Lily is not at all a morning person but she refuses to accept it. she’ll insist on getting up early—fail spectacularly—then stumble into the kitchen bleary-eyed with a bedhead while Mary who was already up an hour ago, is already dressed and reading the paper and casually hands Lily a cup of tea, then tells her to sit down because she’s not awake enough to pretend she’s properly awake yet.

marlene mckinnon who spent her time around smart people who unintentionally or intentionally made her feel dumb and she thought maybe the reason she feels that way is simply because it’s true. but then she met dorcas meadowes, who was smarter than all of them, and she never once made marlene feel like she was less than and that made her realise that she was never the problem.

I think people forget that all the Black sisters were ALL a little disturbed. In the books, Andromeda is a hothead and Narcissa is always borderline hysterical. Bellatrix, of course, is notoriously sadistic, even before Azkaban. The bottom line is, they're all ruthless and I love them.

ive thought of another rosekiller fic idea that i need, but it would tear me apart to read

so its like a multiverse kinda thing but barty is the only constant in all of them. every universe follows the same route, barty meets evan, the fall in love, evan dies. No matter how lomg the time line is, what era it is, what world it is, it always follows the same path.

But, the only thing is that Barty keeps getting thrown between universes. Since Evan is kinda the only thing that ties him down, once he’s dead, Barty gets thrown into another universe. And it just keeps repeating, and repeating.

it takes about 3-4 universes before Barty realizes that evan has to die in every single one, then he tries desperately to prevent it

idk if any of this made sense but it felt kinda funky to me

It was actually Andromeda who mourned Regulus the most.

She didn't grow to resent him like Sirius did. When Andromeda was disowned, Regulus was only twelve. She didn't watch him join the death eaters, she didn't see the cruel person he grew into. She just remembered the gap-toothed boy she read to sleep every night, and wondered if she could have saved him.

If she'd stayed, could she have led him away from the path his parents were pushing him down? (She wouldn't have survived staying, she knows that, but she still wonders if there was something, anything she could have done.)

Bellatrix and Narcissa assumed he died fighting for Voldemort; though they grieved, they were proud. Sirius pushed his grief down until he could barely feel it at all, he'd accepted that he'd lost his brother long before his untimely death. But Andromeda just mourned the child she knew. The boy she wished she could have saved.

ok, for those of you who don't know, jk rowljng donated £70k to an organisation of Scottish women who wanted the legal definition of a woman to be based on biological sex alone in the uk. today they had this ruled for in court.

the legal definition of a woman in the uk is now based purely on biological sex, which will likely fuel the deconstruction of laws made to protect trans people and fuel new transphobic laws. we are still apparently protected from discrimination though.

the worst part of this is that news reports have been treating this as a good thing. jk rowling is painted as an amazing person in school assemblies. after doing not only what she does on twitter, but actively funding the discrimination of trans people.

my brain: you know what, i’d kill for a rosekiller fic where barty doesn’t come off as unhinged. in fact, he comes off as well rounded and responsible until one night he just says some off colored shit to regulus as they’re making prefect rounds, and reg has this realization like, “oh, this guy is actually batshit crazy.” so of course regulus mentions how pandora’s brother, evan, was complaining about some kind of homework he was having trouble with, and barty is practically a genius in the subject so why not have a slytherin owe you a favor?

barty is like “bet,” and makes a great effort to befriend evan, and eventually woo him. after seventh year, they get married(unofficially but also officially in their eyes) in secret and end up getting sent on different missions by voldemort, so there’s basically no contact from either of them until karkoroff’s trial where barty finds out evan died before him, and they will never be reunited again because his soul was taken by a dementor.

me: (jaw dropped) “what the fuck?! why can’t i just come up with a fic full of fluff?”
