I forgot to tell you, I wrote to J. K. Rowling a while back and received this in the mail a week ago. I’m sure it’s something she sends all the people that write to her but it’s still cool. I’m just happy I received anything. Anyways I just wanted to post that because I thought it was really cool. Bye!

Hello! I’ve started picking up manga again. I finished reading Beast Master. It only has 2 volumes so it was a fairly small read. Also she has short stories she has written as well. I really liked the one called Cactus Summer Surprise. I thought it was very well thought out and the characters were interesting. The writer mentioned out it was long for a short story manga but it actually took her a long time to write and she considers it to be one of her master pieces.
I am still one the Shining. Funny thing is that I’m on the last 50-100 pages and it always seems that when I get the time to read it somethings always going on. My brother is talking to me about South Park or a video game he’s playing or my mom needs help with supper. Today however I have the whole day off and I am determined to finish it. Wish me luck!

Hey everyone! I’m starting to get annoyed at how many YA series I started when I was young and now I’m trying to finish them and the covers have changed. if you look at the first picture that was the original cover for the series, then it changed to the second picture, and now it’s turned into the last photo above. It’s happened to some other series that I left off such as the gone series by Michael Grant, the mortal instruments series, and the queen’s thief. It makes you think how much time has passed.
I finished the Books of Bayern series by Shannon Hale. I started reading this series when I was in 8th grade and a little into high school. I read both Goose Girl and Enna Burning, bought River Secrets but never started it. I finally picked up the series again. If you remember I read Goose Girl two years ago and made a post and then about a month ago I picked up Enna Burning and managed to finish the whole series.
I feel like this was a series that Hale started and never intended for it to become a series but it did. The reason I say this is because Goose Girl goes similar to the original goose girl story and then the other books just pick up and stretches out the storyline of the series and creates an interesting world in which everything has a language and you need different languages to balance out other languages. I guess I feel Hale could have just stopped with Goose Girl and things would have been fine.
Overall the series was enjoyable to read. It was interesting to read how she explained the different territories of the world her book lives in. Some territories mimics certain behaviors and had a particular way they ran their government. She probably could have continued with the series but I think she just ran out of ideas which happens. I know Hale wrote Austenland and I would like to read that sometime.
Anyways that is it for now. See you later!

Hey everyone! Just letting you know what I am up to. I don’t know what has been up this week but all I can think about is anime. I started thinking about wanting to go to a convention for anime near me. I do have an anime convention near me called AnimeIowa which this weekend. Unfortunately I cannot afford to go this year :(. I have too many bills that need to be paid and in order to enjoy the full experience I think I would enjoy it a lot better if I save up the money first. But hey at least it gives me something to look forward to.
Anyways I finished the Maid Sama! series finally. Really enjoyed it! I love Taming of the Shrew type stories. I did write a letter to the author Hiro Fujiwara. I found her address on facebook. Hopefully it is a legit address! Wish me luck! Maybe I’ll get a response. See you guys soon!

Hello! I actually finished this book a week ago. I just haven’t had time to make a post. I don’t know if I said this yet but I’m trying to read the Stephen King novels from the first published one to the last. Right now I finished ‘Salem’s Lot which is the second published book. Carrie was the first. I read it a year ago last summer. Now I’m currently reading The Shining.
This book when I first started reading it, it talked about ghost towns and I really did not know what to expect. I never saw the miniseries. So I had no previous knowledge about this book. I had no idea what this book was about. So when I first read the first part about talking about all these different ghost towns, I didn’t know what to expect. I was thinking it was going to be another Desperation where an evil spirit takes over the town. SPOILER In a way I was correct except it wasn’t an evil spirit but a vampire. Dun, dun, dun. END OF SPOILER.
If you remember, I read Bram Stroker’s Dracula and the writing of both he and Stephen King both gave me chills. I could not read it at night. Once it started getting dark I had to put it away. Again it really shows what an accomplished writer Stephen King is to have so many books especially his earlier books turned into movies/miniseries right away. Carrie was published in 1974, the movie came out in 1976. ‘Salem’s Lot was published in 1975, miniseries came out in 1979. The Shining 1977, movie in 1980. And that is not the end of it. I could list them all but I don’t time for that.
Anyways that is what I’m up to. Like if you are a Stephen King fan!

Hey guys! After I caught up on the Queens Thief series I started the Dorothy Must Die series. As you can get from the title, it takes place in a universe in which Dorothy is the villain and therefore she must die. But seriously that is what the series is about. It is a typical YA novel series. It starts off with a girl name Amy Gumm she has a pretty shitty life as far as she’s concerned. Her mom is an addict and she lives in a poor trailer park. She is bulled at school by a girl named Madison. Then one day there is a tornado and she gets blown away to Oz but it is not the Oz she grew up knowing about from the movie. Dorothy is not the nice little farm girl she is the tyrant of Oz basically.
I’ve read enough YA series to know how this series was going to go. Not saying that I didn’t enjoy the series. It was a very easy series to read. I read all four books and the prequel stories in a matter of two weeks. Sometimes it’s nice to read a book series that you know where it’s going to go. But at the same time it was predictable.
A little history on the author Danielle Paige. According to her bio she worked on TV scripts before starting this series and when reading it did feel like this series could become a popular teen show. It has all the little teen angst and lessons that every teen show has. You have Amy Gumm thinking her life is the worst until she get taken to Oz and then she realizes oh I don’t have it as bad as compared to some people. You have romance. There’s also that supernatural element to it as well.
Overall it wasn’t a bad series to read. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed Amy’s sarcastic humor. It reminded me of myself at that age. I kind of had a chip on my shoulder as well. I think we all did. It does have some potty language at some parts and risque elements/moments but not anything that mortally shocked me. Not much shocks me anymore.
Anyways it was a fun series to to read. I see you guys soon!

Hey everyone! It’s been a while since I posted and I’m sorry about that. Been very busy. If you’ve been following my posts, I’ve been in community plays and so forth. I’ve been a very busy girl. But I have been trying to read.
I’m kind of giving the game of thrones series a rest for now. It’s kind of one of those series that you can’t read for very long. It’s very very detailed and you really have to pay attention to the different characters and so forth. I’ll probably pick it up again in a year. It is definitely not a series that I’m going to finish quickly.
In the meantime I picked up another series that I haven’t read since I was in high school and I actually appreciate it more now than I did then. In high school I was more into Harry Potter and books by Cassandra Clare. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m more opened minded now about book than I was when I was in high school.
Anyways the first book is The Thief and it is told in first person by Gen (that is what we know him as in the first book). He has been arrested for stealing from the king and then got caught because he bragged about it. So in the beginning he is in prison and he gets released by the magus in order to steal something in Attolia. That is a taste of what the first book is about.
I consider the first book to be more a prequel to the actual series. The first book we get to know Gen (Eugenides) as well as other characters who become important in the series to come. But the first book is mainly about the character Gen and his mission.
What I love about Turner’s writing is that she doesn’t reveal all her cards right away about Gen even though he is the narrator. In the end she kind of surprises us about his mission and where his true loyalties lie. It is also true in the sequel Queen of Attolia and the book after that King of Attolia. He is not a character who reveals his cards right away. I was a little put off by it at first but after a while you kind of like it because you don’t know how it is going to end.
I found this series to be similar to Game of Thrones but not as violent or crass. It is a young adult series so it is mainly aimed towards teens so there is not going to be a lot of provocative scenes.
When I first read this series I didn’t think there was a lot of romance but as I’m rereading as an adult I find that there was more than I originally read. They’re just a little more hidden and you really have to read the subtle hints.
That is my thoughts on the series. Hopefully I’ll see you soon. Bye!

Hey guys! Sorry I haven’t been posting for a while. A lot has been going on in my life. I’ve been kind of stressed out and been sleeping a lot. I hope I’m not depressed. But even though my reading has slowed down a bit, I still am reading. I’ve been trying to work on the Game of Thrones series. I am both reading the books and rewatching the series. I just got done watching the newest episode (don’t worry I’m not going to be spoiling anything for those of you who are still catching up).
This was a series that I started watching the series first and realized later that it was based on a series of books. I finished the first book a week or two ago and I am about 100 pages into the second. These books are a very slow read. It can be very dry but to me I like both the series and the books for different reasons. The series pretty much follows the books except they do take some liberties as all adaptations do.
This is a very unique series. When I first heard about it I didn’t know what to expect. The first season was very shocking to me for they kill off one of the main characters. It is definitely not a series that characters are automatically safe because they are main characters. Pretty much everyone is up for game. That is one thing that the series brings to the table that the book series lacks which is we develop a deep attachment to the characters and it is really sad when they have to go.
Other than that I don’t have a lot to say. I’m going to continue to read the Game of Thrones series and try to get back into a reading mood. I am currently working on writing a series of my own. I started getting into Tapas and saw that you can submit some of your own stories so I am going to try that. Once I get that up and running. I will put a link up for those who want to read it. See you soon! Bye!

Along with Fables and Scooby Apocalypse I also been reading the manga series Maid Sama! To me it is kind of like Taming of the Shrew. The story is about a high school girl named Misaki who is the president of a school that used to be an all boys school but recently started allowing girls to attend. In the manga it says that 80% is boys and 20% is girls. After school Misaki works at a Maid Cafe as a “Maid” and she doesn’t want anyone to find out because she doesn’t want it to ruin her tough-girl image. Then a boy named Usui finds out and he started “stalking” her during and after her shift. Like Taming of the Shrew, Misaki hates men and she kind of has a shrew-like attitude towards them but then she meets Usui who is just as bad as she is. He turns down the affection of every girl until he meets Misaki. It is really cute the batter between these two. The only down part is that the anime series is not in English. It only is sold with English dub which is better than nothing. If you like dialogue like Taming of the Shrew you will like this series. Anyways I believe I’m all caught up. I am trying to finish the first book of the Game of Thrones series. I already was half way through before I started back again on it. Hopefully I’ll be able to finish it. See you soon!

Along with reading Scooby Apocalypse I am also reading the Fables comic series. So far I’m at the part where Snow had her babies and she has to go live on the farm because they are not totally human-looking. Bigby disappeared along with Boy Blue. Boy Blue ended up going back to the Homelands to defeat the Adversary and there is an interesting twist. So far where I’m at is that Prince Charming who is now the president of Fabletown hired Mowgli to find Bigby and bring him back. I haven’t read anymore than that. See you soon!
