This is my library card. There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My library card is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my library card is useless. Without my library card, I am useless. I must use my library card true. I must read more than my enemy, who is trying to best me. I must outread him before he outreads me. I will. Before Nancy Pearl I swear this creed: my library card and myself are defenders of the 1st Amendment, we are the masters of knowledge, we are the saviors of intelligence. So be it, until there is no illiteracy, but peace. The end.

Boomers are like you couldn’t make Seinfeld today bc the woke mob would cancel it meanwhile every five seconds I see a tumblr post that’s like here’s my idea for an episode of Seinfeld where Jerry starts going by They/He. Idk what point there is to be made here but it does suggest something

I really just want to hit people who have Republicans Reps/Senators over and over again until it sets in: Hound them constantly. Trump answers to nobody, but your reps do have to answer to their constituents. Get a group together and dedicate time to calling their offices. Trump freezing federal grants and loans? The purse is the Congress's turf. Demand your Republican Rep/Senator(s) explain why they think cancer funding should be stopped.
Don't take your boot off their necks. Trump is unreachable, but your Republican rep is not. Put their office numbers in your phone and make it a weekly habit to call them.
2025 is the year we make the Congress more important than the president.

What a time to be trans and alive in America. If you follow me, you are probably already horribly aware of the hundreds of pieces of anti-trans legislation that have been introduced in nearly every state, some seeking to ban trans healthcare for both minors and adults, some to ban drag, to ban trans people from restrooms, from sports teams, and in some of the most extreme cases take trans children away from parents who support their transitions. I highly recommend following The Trans Formations Project for their daily updates on the progress of these bills through the state government. They also have a very helpful tool on their website where you can search representatives by state and see exactly which legislators have introduced or voted on anti-trans bills, so you know exactly who to call and complain to about their terrible policies. The Trans Formations Project is active on insta, tumblr, twitter, discord, tiktok and FB. They are currently seeking volunteers and taking donations through their website. If you have the means, here are some other organizations you can support to combat these bills:
ACLU or especially the ACLU of Tennessee, which is ready to fight Tennessee’s new anti-drag bill in court
The Trans Law Center especially their Trans Health Legal Fund, which provides resources for trans people facing investigation, arrest or prosecution for seeking healthcare
Trans Life Line, a crisis support line in English and Spanish
Trans Latina Coalition
The Marsha P Johnson Institute
TGI Justice Project
For the Gworls
Keep up your courage! Keep up your strength! We’ve also had some pieces of good news this week too- Minnesota has become a refuge state for trans folks seeking gender-affirming healthcare, Michigan just expanded their protections of LGTBQ citizens, and Wyoming rejected a trans healthcare ban. All is not lost, but if you see a bill moving through your state’s legislation, please do make some noise about it!

This just happened to a female coworker (S) of mine today, and I need to share it. It's not a funny story, so I'm sorry in advance - it's a concerning and scary one.
Young male patron (probably in his 20s) was using one of our catalog computers. Out of nowhere, he yells that our catalog makes no fucking sense. Coworker S goes to ask him if he needs help and to tell him that he can't use that language in the library. He says, "Yes I can, I don't give a shit."
After a back and forth in which he continued swearing loudly at S because she refused to help him if he spoke like that, he salutes and storms out of the library shouting, "One day you won't be able to vote. Only men will."
My friends, that is fucking chilling. That is what Trump getting reelected means.
We need to be prepared, protect ourselves and each other, and stand up to these people.
And we need the public to support libraries and librarians. Our staff, and the staff of most libraries, is majority female, and we will be a target. We need the public to stand up for us.
This is my library's first incident of angry incel misogyny since the election, but I'm sure it won't be the last.

Shocking that when you focus on quality and give the story to actual writers they can successfully cement a character, give you her entire backstory, make you fall in love with her and make you cry when they kill her off, all in a span of 30mins.

Hey, the ACLU is getting people to send letters to your Reps to have Congress pass the No Kings Act.
This act would make constitutional amendments to ensure that even sitting presidents are held liable for their actions. That NOBODY is above the law.
Their goal is 150k messages sent and at the time of writing this they're about 2.1k off from that goal!
ACLU gives you a prefilled message that you can edit to send to make the process easier, and will send it out for you.
This only takes a few minutes!
