Bring Fido
If you travel like us, Fido never stays home! So, it is always awesome to find dog-friendly places to stay. Our dog Lucy travels with us wherever we go.

This weekend, we attended a wedding for a family member in Hattiesburg, MS, which is about a seven-hour drive from our home. Hattiesburg is also only two hours from the beach. So, we attended the wedding on Friday, and on Saturday we packedā¦

Rain
Have you ever noticed that wet things are more colorful and vibrant?
Today, I am reflecting on rain. Why?? Well, mostly because itās raining. The day started with a quiet, humid, peaceful hush. Occasionally, as we sat outside on the picnic table of our campsite, we heard the low rumblings of thunder in the distance as we enjoyed of morning cup of Joe.

We sat for a long time before weā¦

Gardening in the Rain
Gardening in theĀ Rain
This morning I am in my pajamaās working in my garden in the rain. TMI, right? And, this is supposed to be a travel blog, right? Bear with me, please. Because, I do have a point to all of this. I promise.
I donāt travel the open road 24/7. But I do travel 24/7!! I travel this wonderful adventure called life. So, perhaps in a way, this is a travel post.

Trust me, this morning I look like aā¦

RV Hacks

We often travel as a family of eight (including the dog) in our thirty-four-foot Class A Motorhome. Traveling with so many people, in a small space, poses many logistic problems. Luckily, there are hacks.
The Safety Pin Towel Hack- Because we are a family of eight, we use many towels. It is hard to decide which one is which after seven people have showered. I created a hack for this problem.ā¦

Riding on the Wild Side
Riding on the WildĀ Side

Traveling west on I20, in an RV, through Atlanta and Birmingham is either a nightmare or comedy movie. Maybe a little of both. Faced with a 400-mile day, driving from Lexington SC to Jasper, AL (north of Birmingham) was a 13-hour day. Ā First off, there is no easy way through Atlanta. It is just so huge, and it is always a traffic nightmare. Our Garmin RV told us to take the northern route aroundā¦

The Suicide

For the first time ever, my family had a campfire on the beach. The sun was setting, and the grandchildren were chasing ghost crabs with nets and flashlights. My hubby, papaw, was playing old favorites on his guitar. The other adults were quietly singing along or peacefully listening to the waves and music, while staring contently at the fire.Ā It was perfect and awesome, untilā¦ā¦.

How Old is Too Old
How Old is TooĀ Old

For five days I wrestled with the question, āHow old is too old?ā Ā Most might say there are times in life when we are just too old. For example, a four year old is too old for bottles; A six year old is too old for thumb sucking; A ten year old is too old for doll babies; A sixteen year old is too old to play house; A twenty year old is too old for high school; A forty year old is too old for aā¦

Dolphins. Playful, frolicking puppy-dogs of the sea? Flipper? Yes or no?Ā Whichever your answer most of us would agree that human beings are attracted to these graceful, mysterious creatures.
Me personally- I think that the ocean, boats, and dolphins go hand in hand. I love the feel of the open water with the wind blowing in my hair and sunshine on my face while dreaming having a new BFFā¦

Third Times a Charm (I Hope)
Third Times a Charm (IĀ Hope)

While Climbing the rickety stairs of Bodie Island Lighthouse, I prayed, āDear Lord, pleaseā¦.ā I wondered if this lighthouse was more structurally sound than its previous two predecessors. The first Bodie Lighthouse was built in 1837; However, because of poor construction, the fifty-four-foot tower began to lean a mere two years after its completion. So, in 1859, the U.S. Government commissionedā¦

Morton Salt
Morton Salt was established in Chicago in 1848. Ā I grew up with their iconic logo and slogan: āWhen it rains it pours!ā Wikipedia says their slogan has to do with the fact that they added anticaking agents to their salt in order to stop the salt from caking, thus pouring freely.
Personally, I think that Morton obtained the idea, for their slogan, because they spent some time vacationing, onā¦

A Harsh Mistress

The majesty, beauty, and vastness of the ocean pulls at my heartstrings. Not just me, but my whole family. This year we are vacationing on the outer banks, NC. Five adults, seven kids one dog and two RVās.
Today was our first day on the beach. The waves were incredibly ferocious. Almost everyone received battle scars from waves crashing bodies into the sand. But, like any good soldier theā¦

Our rig was swaying side to side like a ship in a thunderstorm
After a long hard day on the road, we finally pulled off into the entrance of Lazy Acres Campground in Fayetteville, NC. Ā The sand/dirt road was bumpy, and I distinctly remember praying, āplease donāt let us roll,ā as our rig swayed side to side like ship in a thunderstorm.Ā Looking around at the unkept land around our swaying rigā¦

Low Bridges, Google, Duct Tape/Twine and the Best KOA
Low Bridges, Google, Duct Tape/Twine and the BestĀ KOA

Experience has shown that Google does not give the best advice for RV travel. There maps work great for automobile travelers. However, for RV and travel trailer travelers Googles map advice is sometimes unwise and dangerous.
My son-In-law and daughter just experienced a bad and dangerous situation with Google maps. En-route to Greensboro, GA, Google took them down a County road with anā¦

I Don't Need Nothin'
I Donāt NeedĀ Nothinā

Covered in fifty pounds of fur!
Whenever preparing for a trip, I always think about the opening scene from the 1979 movie, The Jerk. In the movie, Nevin, played by Steve Martin, is seen wondering outside of his apartment muttering, āI donāt need nothing. His exact words are, āI donāt need nothing āceptā¦ā¦ā He then proceeds to pick up tons of stuff, that he thinks he needs, always prefixing theā¦

The Good Samaritan

Every trip is an adventure. This week end we are traveling to Hattiesburg Mississippi, so that my son-in-law can help work a marathon. Our son-in-law will be assisting with his Ham Radio, to help with communication from station to station.Ā Ā Ā
We started our journey at eight-thirty Friday morning. Ā
I love traveling by Class A Motorhome. The view is amazing. The captain chairs are comfy,ā¦

The Trade

Well, we did it. We traded our 17-year-old Class C Motorhome.
Our baby, the Bouncy, is gone.
Our girl the Bouncy was a good girl. However, she was an old lady. A very old lady by RV standards. Her colors were a little faded and to be completely honest, she leaked a little. But, in her defense, you might leak a little too if you needed a new roof. Her engine was sound and oil pressure good, but weā¦
