LG INTRODUCES INTEGRATED CONTROLLER PLATFORM FOR VEHICLES AT CES 2025
Consolidating IVI and ADAS Systems in a Single Chip, LGâs Next-gen Controller Sets a New Standard for the Mobility Experience
LG Electronics (LG), working with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., will introduce the groundbreaking Cross Domain Controller (xDC) platform for vehicles at CES 2025. Based on Qualcomm Technologiesâ Snapdragon Rideâą Flex System-on-Chip (SoC),* which pre-integrates Snapdragon Rideâą automated driving stack and computer vision, this cutting-edge solution incorporates LGâs In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) System and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) into a single controller. The xDC platform is set to redefine vehicle performance and elevate the mobility experience.
Due to the increasing complexity of modern vehicles, the need for a central computer that can efficiently manage diverse functionalities has become paramount. The Flex SoC addresses this need, presenting a single SoC with pre-integrated ADAS, automated drivingcapabilities and an open platform offering support for digital cockpit and IVI. By utilizing Qualcomm Technologiesâ flexible, multifunctional chipset, LGâs xDC platform is able to rapidly process data from IVI and ADAS systems concurrently, enhancing the overall driving experience. Along with providing a more efficient mobility experience, this single-SoC innovation reduces component costs. The xDC platform also delivers the proactive assistance of âADAS confidence view,â which combines 3D and 2D graphics to help drivers maintain focus on the road.
The platform enables drivers and front seat passengers to easily and intuitively access a wide range of information through the vehicleâs main display. This includes critical ADAS alerts, such as distance to the vehicle ahead and lane departure warnings, as well as alternative routes based on real-time traffic conditions. A highly-capable âall-in-oneâ system that can simultaneously handle multiple vehicle functions, such as navigation, safety systems and ADAS features, the new xDC is the result of close cooperation between LG and Qualcomm Technologies. The Flex SoC, which has obtained Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL)-D certification â an international safety standard â contributes significantly to xDCâs ability to deliver reliable support for critical in-vehicle functions.

Ambarella worked in close cooperation with LG to integrate its CV25 AI system-on-chip (SoC) into LGâs Driver Monitoring System (DMS), which allows automotive OEMs to deliver safer vehicles. This DMS is already in production with a global automotive OEM.
With its industry-leading AI performance per watt, Ambarellaâs CV25 chipset enables LGâs DMS to perform real time analysis of high-resolution video from in-vehicle cameras. In addition to accurate object recognition, this AI SoC supports smooth high-definition video processing and achieves high energy efficiency, making it ideal for integration with various in-vehicle sensors. The CV25, which is manufactured using 10-nanometer process technology, also facilitates high-quality, detailed imaging in low-light and over a high dynamic range, ensuring stable monitoring regardless of environment, weather or time of day.
Leveraging LGâs VisionWare, a key part of the companyâs AlphaWare portfolio of mobility software, this new DMS can accurately detect subtle eye and head movements of the driver. The system employs AI to determine whether the driver is distracted or drowsy based on these movements. Equipped with the CV25, the DMS can recognize these cues irrespective of the driverâs race, gender or age, and provides precise detection and analysis even if the driver is wearing sunglasses, a hat or other accessories.

LG OPENS THINQ API TO FOSTER SMART HOME INNOVATION
Company Enhances Smart Home Connectivity with Open API
LG Electronics (LG) has fully opened the Application Programming Interface (API) of its smart home platform, LG ThinQ, enabling developers to easily create smart spaces with LG appliances.
Recently, LG launched the LG Smart Solution API Developer website (smartsolution.developer.lge.com) to officially open up the LG ThinQ API. An API acts as a digital connector that allows different software to exchange functions seamlessly. Developers can utilize the open API to integrate various features from LG AI appliances into their programs or systems, enhancing their services.
The LG ThinQ API is divided into two categories: the ThinQ API for individual users and the ThinQ Business API for corporate partners. The ThinQ API allows for remote control of LG devices installed in homes or buildings and facilitates integration with various platforms.
For individual users, the ThinQ API supports the control and monitoring of AI appliances registered in the LG ThinQ app from various smart home platforms. By utilizing the ThinQ API, anyone can easily create a customized smart home that fits their lifestyle. For example, users of the global smart home platform Home Assistant can now connect and control 26 types of LG AI appliances, including refrigerators and washing machines, within their existing smart home environment. Home Assistant is a community-based open platform with about one million users worldwide who collaboratively develop various smart home functions such as device automation and feature expansion.
For enterprises, the ThinQ Business API supports partners operating office or residential buildings in integrating and managing various LG products, from appliances to commercial equipment like HVAC and signage, with their existing apps. For instance, large residential buildings can integrate LG appliances with their existing management apps for more convenient use. Residents can reserve the use of LG washers and dryers in common areas through the building management app, or administrators can detect abnormal conditions in the building using LGâs temperature and humidity sensors and quickly respond to issues through alert functions.
Meanwhile, LG has accelerated the integration of external products and services into the LG ThinQ platform by acquiring the smart home platform company Athom, known for its extensive IoT device connectivity. Athomâs smart home hub Homey currently connects over 50,000 types of appliances and IoT devices, and the Athom app store features around 1,000 apps that connect and control products and services from global brands like Philips and Aqara. LG plans to integrate Athomâs extensive open ecosystem and IoT device connectivity into the AI home hub LG ThinQ On, aiming to realize an AI home where generative AI better understands customers and provides optimal space solutions.

LG Electronics (LG) unveiled today its renewed 2025 QNED evo lineup, featuring new proprietary wide color gamut technology, a true wireless viewing experience that transmits 4K 144Hz1 images without loss of picture quality or delay, AI-enhanced picture and sound processing, and an ultra-personalized AI-based customer experience via webOS 25.
LG continues to strengthen its competitiveness in the global premium TV market through a dual-track strategy. This strategy emphasizes LGâs market-leading, self-emissive OLED lineup and the QNED evo series â a premium LCD TV lineup that incorporates key OLED innovations, such as advanced AI capabilities and wireless convenience.
The 2025 QNED evo lineup boasts an improved color gamut compared to previous models by applying LGâs new proprietary wide color gamut technology, Dynamic QNED Color Solution, which replaces quantum dots. This unique technology enables light from the backlight to be expressed in pure colors that are as realistic as they appear to the eye in general life.
With the application of Dynamic QNED Color Solution, the entire 2025 QNED evo lineup is 100 percent certified by global testing and certification organization Intertek for Color Volume, measuring a screenâs ability to display the rich colors of original images without distortion.
In 2025, LG will also unveil the QNED evo (QNED9M) featuring its True Wireless 4K technology. This innovation, previously exclusive to the top-tier OLED evo model (M Series) last year, will now be available in the QNED evo lineup. This expansion allows viewers to enjoy high-definition 4K content wirelessly, without compromising on picture quality or experiencing delays, moving beyond the limitations of traditional wired connections.2 The wireless solution utilizes a separate Zero Connect Box to transmit high-definition video at up to 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The QNED evo is designed to minimize screen disconnection and deliver natural images even in a wireless setup. Additionally, it has earned AMD FreeSync Premium certification. The TV itself requires only a power cord, allowing for more convenient storage of gaming consoles and set-top boxes.
The company additionally continues to raise the picture and sound quality of its QNED evo lineup by offering more powerful editions of its proprietary AI processors. 2025 LG QNED evo models are equipped with the α8 AI Processor, offering close to 70 percent improvement in AI performance compared to the previous year. This processor delivers picture and sound at a level worthy of ultra-large TVs.
These AI capabilities include more advanced upscaling, analyzing the filmmakerâs intent to adjust picture noise and presenting faces, objects, text and backgrounds more naturally. Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro breaks down each scene to fine-tune HDR effects and brightness for each zone. Moreover, AI converts 2-channel sound sources to virtual 9.1.2 channel sound for a richer audio experience. It also distinguishes voices from background sounds and makes them clearer, while audio sounds natural as if it were coming from the center of the TV screen.
The new AI Magic Remote, included with the 2025 QNED evo, features a new AI button for easy analysis of viewing preferences and recommendations on what to watch and which apps to use. Personalization is further enhanced by Voice ID, Generative AI Gallery3 and customized TV picture and sound quality modes. A short press on the AI button guides users to relevant keywords and TV features, while a long press enables personalized searches based on a large language model (LLM4). For example, if a user is planning a trip to France, they can ask their remote, âRecommend movies to watch on my trip to Paris.â The AI will understand the context and suggest movies set in the French capital, including specific genre recommendations based on the userâs viewing preferences.
LGâs proprietary smart TV platform, webOS25, elevates the customer experience by offering hyper-personalized service advancements and content through its best-of-all-time AI features and the ongoing webOS Re:New Program, which includes webOS upgrades for five years.
The 2025 QNED lineup will also now range from 40 to 100 inches as LG is expanding its QNED lineup by introducing a 100-inch option in response to customer demand for ultra-large, premium LCD TVs.
