Your headcanon about how/when Alec and Tess had Hannah and basically any other adorable family life details?

auuughguuegueshegsgehhh THIS IS MY FAVORITE1. Alec and Tess were very young when they got married. She was 18, and he was 21. 2. Tess found out she was pregnant about two and a half months after they got married. They never really knew whether or not Hannah was conceived before or after the wedding. 3. Tess’ da died during her pregnancy of a heart attack. 4. Tess suffered from intense vertigo while pregnant with Hannah, among other things - this meant that she lost her balance easily and suffered from motion sickness. Alec often had to help her walk, and he teased normally-steady Tess for being so fragile she could be knocked over with a feather.  She teased him right back, calling him her skinny walking stick.  5. It was very difficult right up until the end, where some complications left Tess without a lot of blood and Hannah in uncertain health. It didn’t take long for both to recover though, and the scare was just that - a scare. 6. Hannah’s name is Hannah Connor Hardy - Hannah, for Hannah McDonough, Tess’ mother, and Connor, which was the maiden name of Alec’s mother, Kate.

7. During the pregnancy and when she was a baby, Alec and Tess often sang this song to her together. They both sing well, but would never sing in front of anyone else. Even into adulthood, the song puts Hannah to ease. 8. Hannah was a Daddy’s girl from almost the very beginning. She often sat on Alec’s lap while he read. 

9. Before she could even speak, Alec and Tess had a ritual in which one or both of them would read aloud to her every night. 10. For nearly ten Christmases straight the three of them and Tess’ brother Arthur spent Christmases at the big house where Tess and Arthur grew up. Alec has a standing invitation, even after the divorce. 11. Alec and Tess have a goddaughter called Sophie. Her father was Alec’s first partner, who was killed in the line of duty. Sophie acts as Hannah’s de facto big sister. 12. When Hannah was six years old, Alec and Tess took her to Disney World. There’s a picture of the three of them taken by a stranger at the park, in which all three are smiling and laughing, that both Alec and Tess keep on them at all times, not knowing the other also keeps the same picture. Ask me about headcanons

Doctor x rose, stuck in the rain (Alec x Tess is also awesome if you'd prefer that one! :)

At seventeen, he shows up on her doorstep, wet to the bone and unable to look in her eye. There’s an ugly purple bruise on his cheek, and he’s just walked a mile to her house in the pouring rain. She doesn’t fuss, as she’d like to do. He’d never want that. Instead, Tess pops her hip to one side, sticks her hand on her hip, and says. “Gonna stand there all day like a dummy?” “Might do,” he says, quirking his eyebrow at her. “Just to drive you mad.” She makes popcorn (she always makes popcorn, it’s the only thing she knows how to make) and they spend the rainy afternoon watching Doctor Who reruns under the same quilt while thunder rattles the china cabinet. *** At forty-two, he shows up on her doorstep, wet to the bone and unable to look her in the eye. There’s at least three days’ worth of ragged stubble on his cheek, and last she checked he was in Broadchurch - nearly a days’ drive from Glasgow, and the house where she lived that had once been theirs. “It’s raining,” he says uselessly. She gapes for a moment, wonders what he’s after, before she recognizes the slump in his posture. He looks beaten, worn out, as though he could sleep for a week and not notice a minute had passed. And he came here?“You gonna say anything?” he mumbles, eyes fixed on the doorframe. “Probably not,” she says, hand on her hip. “Just to drive you mad.” She leaves the door open, turns around to wander back into the living room, where she flips the channel away from a news broadcast and a woman in a black pantsuit talking about the sad death of eleven-year-old Danny Latimer. The next channel over is Doctor Who - the new stuff, though - she’s not terribly sure about it. Worth a go, though. 

When she looks over, he’s sat down beside her. Not close enough to share her quilt, but close enough that their fingers brush when she pushes the popcorn bowl between them.

Where there any times were Alex comforted Tess after something happened to her?

While it's usually the other way around, there have been a few times. Alec and Tess' marriage broke down for two reasons the first go round. The first reason was Alec's relentless tunnel vision whenever he's in emotional distress - and the second, was Tess' complete unwillingness to be vulnerable in front of him, while simultaneously needing tenderness from him very badly. Communication is an important thing, man. The one time that sticks out, though, was the first time she tried to kiss him. She was sixteen, almost seventeen, and he was nineteen, and he had been away to college for the last year. He'd sort of...forgotten to write and/or call and hadn't visited often, and even though he still cared about her very much, he hadn't bothered to show her that, and when he came home, she was understandably upset with him. He spent that whole summer trying to make it up to her - he felt awful, because he had missed her, he just hadn't told her that, and to top it all off, something happened in that year he'd been gone and she was much less of a girl and much more of a woman, and he just...he knew he wasn't supposed to want her, but he really did.  After a stunningly awkward apology, she forgave him, and they spent most of that summer inseparable - their closeness compounded by the fact that her brother was away taking summer classes and it was just the two of them. About a week before he was supposed to go back, they spent the day together, not talking about the thing looming between them. At the end of that day, she kissed him. He really wanted to kiss her back, but at the time he thought she was too young, and very gently pushed her away. She sort of played it off like it was no big deal, bounced away to get ready for dinner, which he always ate on Saturday nights with her family. But when he went to tell her goodbye before he left, he found her crying like she was heartbroken. She panicked, tried not to let him see her, but he was bigger than her and she couldn't stop crying (she holds it in so much, that when it starts it's so hard for her to stop) so he just sort of picked her up, carried her into her dad's study, and held her. She couldn't look at him, but he couldn't stop looking at her. Earlier he'd comforted himself by thinking she'd get over it quickly, that she'd find somebody better, but now...god, how could she care about him enough for it to be worth this? He's hurt her again, he doesn't deserve her, but here she is, sniffling in his arms (Tessa? Crying?) and he doesn't know what to do but pull her close and try not to think about the fact that if he doesn't give in tonight, that he's pretty sure he'll give in eventually. They fall asleep like that. Arthur finds them the next morning, and wonders when his best friend and his little sister will bloody get together already.
