Opinion: nuPPG 15 Blue Ribbon Blues & 16 Frenemy

I decided to put these two episodes together because there isn’t much to say about the first one. It was a meh episode, while it could have been a decent one, it just was kinda dumb. The only good thing I could say about this episode is that the beginning had the cutest Blossom.

On the other hand, Frenemy was a better episode. I didn’t like that Jemmica was obviously lying to them and no one realized she was emotionally manipulating them with “but if you don’t trust me...”, it could have been worse if she was sincere when she said that she was only trying to impress them. If that would have been the case then the first manipulation attempt wouldn’t have made sense for being too obvious. I also didn’t like that for some reason the professor happened to know about archeology and how to read an ancient language, he was clearly added just so the girls would choose him over Jemmica at the end. Other than that, this could have been a good episode if a few changes were made, but that could be said of almost all the episodes of the reboot.

Opinion: nuPPG 14 Puffdora’s Box

I stopped watching this for a while but I’m back now. From the title I really thought this was going to be a good episode, but really it is one of the most mediocre ones.

I think the organizing personality of the new Blossom is good, but here it’s taken to the extreme and it reaches a point where she creates organizing boxes that makes no sense and end up working alone which makes her open the Puffdora’s Box. Then, monsters appear and they wanna party, Blossom tries to take care by herself and ask her sisters for help. They come up with something and they are back into the box. The end.

Also, a girl named Hope appears and she knows how to get the monsters back into the box, but she doesn’t do anything, she is there just so they know how to do it.

Opinion: nuPPG 13 Arachno Romance

Fuck this episode. It wasn’t bad, but it had a terrible ending. This woman turned into a giant spider everytime she feels love and that’s why she can’t be with the professor. Okay, that’s a good plot, but how the hell can she say she can’t be with him until she finds a cure when he’s a fucking professor and has his own lab? He could help her find a cure and they could be together. I haven’t seen any episode after this one, but I’m sure she won’t appear again. Seriously, fuck this episode.

Also, that last part with “Buttercup” asking the professor if he’s okay and she speaks with the voice of Bubbles... How?

Okay, this episode was great. Although we've seen them going to school before, this should have been among the first episodes, even before Princess Buttercup.

Opinion: nuPPG 11 Tiara Trouble

This episode was okay, but there’s one thing I don’t understand, why did the villains want the tiara? We saw that Mojo wanted it because he wanted to look pretty, but what about the rest? Were they just trying to help Mojo?

The rest of the episode was just cute overall.

Opinion: nuPPG 10 Power-up Puff

Most episodes so far go from watchable to decent, but this one was actually good. In this one they get their new powers, so they should have aired Little Octi Lost after this one. What I didn’t like was the explanation for those powers. They were just excited for something they like and suddenly they got new powers. That’s it. That was very lazy, but other than that it was a good episode.

It even made me feel legitimately sad for Blossom.

This was a decent episode and here they use those new powers. I like them, but I would have liked some kind of explanation for them.

Opinion: nuPPG 07 Bye Bye, Bellum

I knew Miss Bellum was out of this reboot, and the reason is very stupid. At least the reason in-show was sort of believable. I mean sort of because it wasn't just as she was never there, they invented an excuse that kinda works to explain her absense and at the end they showed her "proud" that he was going to handle things without her. I wonder if the Mayor gets a new assistant in the next episodes.

Overall this episode wasn't bad, although it moved a little fast. They literally found a new assistant (who happened to be a criminal) in like a minute because they just wanted to go home and play their game. I guess I understand, also they were very tired of him and just wanted to get this over with.

PS. I didn't say anything about the previous episode, Man Up, because I already watched that one when it leaked and there's nothing I could say as a first impression because I can't have a second first impression. But I can say it's a regular episode that can be used as the first one to watch.

Opinion: nuPPG 05 Horn, Sweet Horn

I knew about this episode. I knew about it being about transexuals and it clearly is. Overall, it wasn’t a bad episode, but the topic was handled very poorly. For starters, it wasn’t subtle at all with the pony yelling “at my heart I know I’m an unicorn”. And the other major flaw is the ending. Up to the point where he was transformed into a monster everything was kinda good, but when all the unicorns show up to save him and reveal he was an unicorn all along everything was ruined. And when they revealed he had his horn all along but he never saw it because his hair was in the way is the most stupid way to solve everything.

I don’t want to be harsh, but it tried to be funny and relevant but it just failed. This could have been a good episode, but it took very stupid decisions.

Opinion: nuPPG 04 Painbow

Well, it didn't took too long to find an episode that I dislike. The enemy was terrible, everyone acted terrible and the moment Buttercup realized she was mean to Miss Keane was kind of forced. I might overlook that, but the rest of the episode was just too awful to just ignore it.

Opinion: nuPPG 03 The Stayover

I really can't be mad that they made a parody of The Hangover because I really enjoyed this episode. Some of their jokes were actually funny, the concept wasn't bad at all and overall it was just fun. I've read a couple comments saying that Bubbles was out of character because she wanted to fight a bull, but I just take it with humor. I mean, Robin doesn't have baby hands either and that didn't stop that episode from being funny. Lastly, the only thing I think they really should have done right was Bubbles speaking Spanish. She said something and even translated it but I couldn't understand a thing she said, and I'm a native Spanish speaker.

Opinion: nuPPG 02 Princess Buttercup

My thoughts on this one are mixed. It wasn't bad, but it had some bad parts that I can't ignore. The crystal Princess caught Bubbles and Blossom on is supposed to be indestructible, the rollerbladers shouldn't have been able to break it just by skating on it, it clearly was made like that to make them worth something when they come help Buttercup. I also didn't like that Blossom at the end accepted Princess as a Powerpuff Girl just because the monster is too powerful for them. Is just something I can't buy.

On the other hand, the story is not bad and some jokes were actually funny.

And finally, I know this show has some animation errors and I try to not pay much attention to that, but you just can't forget to remove Buttercup's rollerblades if they are on the ground in the same shot.

Opinion: nuPPG 01 Escape from Monster Island

The Powerpuff Girls have always been one of my favorite series of all time. And like many people, I was excited when I read about the reboot. Unfortunately, it seems is not as good as people thought. I've seen a lot of reviews and everyone says it's trash, but what I see most of the time is critics about what the producers have said, animation errors and just comparisons with the original series.

It may not be as good as the original, but it doesn't really have to be. I can just enjoy it as its own thing and try to leave any prejudice behind and just watch it like I watch TTG: without taking it seriously.

Now, how many episodes have I watched? Literally only two, this one and Man Up. I avoided watching this because I didn't want to get disappointed, but I knew I was going to watch it someday. Well, now it's the time and I'm going to watch one episode daily and write my thoughts about each of them.

This first episode is actually not that bad. I already said I wasn't going to compare both series, but I just have to mention that Monster Island was mentioned before in the original series but we never saw it. Also the design of the monsters was pretty good, a little more realistic than the original series' as those were more absurd. Yeah, I noted the hits didn't connect but it really didn't bother me, is just something I couldn't help noticing. So, as a start this was a pretty decent episode. How bad can it get from here?

This wasn’t a bad episode, but it was pretty meh.

Nice and simple stories are fine, but this one felt a little too empty. It was kind of important to see why the gems trust in Greg in the first place, but personally I think we could live without seeing this one.

Is like that important story in your life that no one wants to know about.

You should watch Making Fiends, it's really good.

I have watched it. I really liked it.
