"A little break from them would be nice, if I'm honest." Rucho exhales, admitting more than they'd like. If anything, they need that break. Not that spending time is horrible or any of the sort, quite the opposite in fact, but being able to actually leave the house is something that they'd selfishly want.

But it's not about them, it's about Elena.

Osito hums, shuffling on their bed to get comfortable. "Why don't we keep talking then? Just for old times' sake. I could relay to you my own problems, although they're mostly household mishaps." They decide with a fond sigh. "Just to temporarily help you get this off your mind."

Elena is smart, or so she’s made to be. Observant more than anything. Obviously when you are given a test subject you don’t want to release them. Escapes are a rather common tactic of freedom that are easily avoidable if done right.

Yet the scientist and the lab rat sit on the clean heavenly floors of the observation lab. Against better judgement Elena thought it couldn’t hurt to let him out. Of course he won’t cause trouble with a bribe of cheese.

The sight in itself was odd. Elena sat criss-crossed, her lab coat slung on the back of her chair on the other side of the room. The rat sat in front of her, sitting up as tall as it could manage and barely chipping away at Elena’s height.

It would be amusing to Elena if she saw it. Being the one sitting however shes feels much more grim.

“It’s not right. I have to be faulty. Do you not understand that? If I can’t carry out my basic functions that must mean something is wrong.”

Her voice carries in the room, while the voice responding is as silent as a mouse. Or a rat. A loud, obnoxious rat, whom she shushes.

Robot girl who’s defective. She was built for a Function, but despite her best efforts she just can’t fulfill it.

She has a community now. It’s hard, but she’s learning, just maybe, she doesn’t have to have a Function to be worth keeping around. She doesn’t deserve the scrapyard.
