Personae Dramatis

The following characters are important characters to the story of Steel Fists and its clan.

Steel Fists

Pronouns: It/its

Race: Skeleton

Age: Old.

Back story: Steel Fists is a skeleton who dumps its memory every few hundred years and goes dormant for a random and unknown length of time, usually 50+ years. It calls these past “lives” iterations. The current iteration believes that it can only trust in two things – the things it makes, and the strength of its own steel fists. Status: Protagonist.

Trivia:

Steel Fists loves wuxia, and its decision to make itself a gi was directly influenced by the amount of old wuxia it watched in its first iteration. It does believe in fighting until its dead.

Ruka

Pronouns: She/her

Race: Shek

Age: Mid-20s.

Back story: Ruka is a disgraced Shek warrior, who survived an ambush with a group of dust bandits outside of Squin. Unfortunately for Ruka, her people viewed her survival as cowardice and broke her horns off, turning her into a second-class citizen who is only fit for servitude. She joined with Steel Fists after it wandered into Squin looking to sell copper. She finds Steel Fists intriguing and has joined up with it, as it does not care about her culture’s taboo about her fighting again, only that she can fight.

Status: Alive Trivia: Her back story is a retelling of her canonical back story, which simply states that she survived a fight she should’ve died in and was therefore disgraced. Gecko Pronouns: She/they Race: Human Age: Early 30s Back Story: A human woman who escaped from Rebirth with her friend, Joe. They are working on teaching Joe that the Holy Nation’s teachings are kind of bad. She likes Steel Fists, and views it as a pragmaticist. Status: Alive Trivia: Gecko was actually my first player character in Kenshi. I decided to bring her into Steel Fists’ story because I felt bad that I immediately abandoned her for Steel Fists. The back story of her escaping from Rebirth with Joe was something I changed, since for Gecko I had originally chosen the “Wanderer” back story. Joe Vanjoe Pronouns: He/him Race: Human Age: Late teens, early twenties Back Story: A human man who escaped from Rebirth with his friend, Gecko. He was initially imprisoned because he was caught stealing bread to feed his wife and kids. Status: Alive Trivia: Joe was made up because the NPCs in the Hub sometimes react to a skeleton character as though they were still members of the Holy Nation, which reviles and accuses all skeletons of being “Agents of Darkness”. Him and Gecko being escaped slaves is a reference to the “Slaves” game start. Joe’s back story and name are a loose reference to Jean Valjean “Les Miserables”
