The Commitments

Every five years or so I make a point of re-watching this movie, and last night was it. Once again I laughed, I cried, and I was nostalgic.

What a good movie, and my god is the music superb.

Here's one for @deanwinchesterswitch . From 1991, it's The Commitments with Mustang Sally. I wore this cassette out way back when.

Soul is the music that people understand. Sure it’s basic and it’s simple, but it’s something else, something special. ‘Cause it’s honest, that’s it. It’s honest. There’s no fucking bullshit. It sticks its neck out and says it straight from the heart. Sure there’s a lot of different music you can get off on but soul is more than that. It takes you somewhere else. It grabs you by the balls and lifts you above the shite.

John was aged just 12 when he shot the hilarious scene back in 1990, when Robert Arkins' character Jimmy Rabbitte was startled to see the youngster leading the horse into a lift.
