Some curls need repairing treatments and some need straight up moisture - either way try starting your routing with some straight up slip! I’ve been using #devacurl #washdaywonder on my own fine swavy hair and I LOVE it! My combo of lots of highlights and high lift color along with terrible Florida water makes slip really important for my wash days. I spend less time detangling and more time hydrating! #tbt to years ago when I posted this - no poo isn’t enough for most people - if it was products like “buildup buster” wouldn’t exist (don’t get me started). I don’t care what you call your method, I’m into healthy hair that doesn’t have buildup and also a healthy scalp that doesn’t have build up, which can clog the hair follicles and even cause hair loss. This is only as complicated as you want to make it. Hard water and chlorine can cause mineral buildup, so it’s not just product buildup you need to consider when it comes to doing a clarifying or detox type treatment (which can be as simple as a detox shampoo). When i was accepting new clients I can say that for many of them i spent more time removing buildup than I did cutting or styling. I took a class once where the (brand employed) educator INSISTED no poo was enough to get out buildup and @curlspecialist had to (almost) physically hold me back from climbing over the table 😂 because, PLEASE.
