Finally got around to harvesting the turmeric! I threw a few pieces in the ground that we bought at the farmers market last year and got all of this back. Gardening is magic. 🧡

Our third generation of chicks are hatching out right now! We had a hen get broody recently so we thought we would let her hatch out a few eggs. We had no idea she had so many under her. (She's very small and a little standoffish, so we let her be.) The evening before the freeze we saw a bit of eggshell peeking out from under her. She let us lift her wing to discover a brand new baby. A new chick or two has popped out every day since then. ♥️

I harvested my first Okinawan sweet potato yesterday! I chopped into it outside to show the purple middle. It was beautiful and delicious and it tasted much less sweet than store bought sweet potatoes. Which made me like it even more. 🍃

Finally! Your girl has tomatoes ripening. (Who knew just how important pruning and fertilizing was? Not me, that's for sure!)

I took pictures of the same group of cherry tomatoes over the span of a day and a half to show how quickly they turn red once they get going.

Okay, I know I said I was going to rest today but then I remembered all of the pickling cucumbers I had waiting in my fridge from the garden and HAD to make some pickles really quick. So. Behold. A whole lot of pickles!

I just found a baby opossum in my garden! It was small enough to fit in the palm of my hand (though I of course didn't touch it and admired it from a distance). I think I know who's been enjoying snacking on my young basil plants!
