any updates on the phone call?
Yeah! I made sure to take a couple of notes, so that I could type out a good summary for yous. He said that it was okay for me to tell you all this, by the way. Oh, and that you can call him Kevin!
He also said that maybe, if I let him, he might post some of his own experience on this blog. Would you all be interested in that?
I'm getting distracted! I just need to sum up the call. So, it turns out our experiences have been really similar to each other. Kevin's in the same place that I'm in, with all the puddles and the ocean and stuff. Except, his symbols are different? He sees the eyes, just like I do, but instead of them staring on him they're all looking away. And this is in Kevin's own words... "There's laughter, that just echoes around me. But not the good kind of laughter; the kind of laughter where it's clear they're laughing at you. And I feel really sad about that, like the only thing I want is to make them laugh in the good way." Honestly, that sounds even worse than the shadows.
He also described a really loud screeching noise, followed by a 'thunk', that just plays over and over? I don't know, he didn't go into detail, and I didn't want to press too much. Anyways, we ended up talking about video games after a while, and we actually like a lot of the same things! We're going to talk again, and play a round of DST together soon.
...Yeah, okay, maybe we got a little sidetracked from the whole dream thing. But we did decide to sleep on the same nights, so that next time we 'meet up', we can do some experimenting. Moving around, and stuff. And it should be a lot easier to stay up now, if we hang out on call all night. No risk of falling asleep.

Guys!! The person who I kept seeing finally texted me! I'm taking screenshots, give me a moment...

I'm about to tell them I'm ready to call, but this is big! I'm actually a bit nervous, but I really do want to see if we're going through the same thing.
Yeah. I can't be nervous right now, I just have to do this.

If you don't mind me asking, Daniel (Can I call you Dan?), why do you trust the people of tumblr to help you out with this? I mean, I'm just some kid who probably lives halfway across the globe from you! And, to be honest, that's probably most of tumblr's userbase in a nutshell.
...I mean, surely a reddit thread would be better for advice, lol.
I'm joking about that last part, if you couldn't tell. What I'm getting at is, do you have any family or close friends who can take some time and hear you out? Surely if this is causing you actual distress and difficulty sleeping, someone close to you irl would be willing to give you better advice than us anons ever could.
-🎲
(PS- Feel free to call me Dix. Or D6, if you prefer. Though I guess giving a name to an anon defeats the purpose.)
You can call me whatever you want! I've had a couple of people call me Dan before, so don't worry about it.
And you bring up a very good point! I didn't even think of Reddit, mostly because I've never used it before. Also, Tumblr was kind of the first thing that popped up in my Google search, and it seemed a lot easier to use. I've heard Reddit users can be rather nice, though? I don't know. You said it was a joke, anyways, so I suppose it doesn't really matter.
This is going to sound depressing as hell, and I swear I didn't mean for it to sound that way, but I don't really have any close friends, save for some online ones. I don't even know if I'd call them especially close? A couple of them have been nice enough to stay on call with me a couple of nights though, so I can have some entertainment instead of shiny hunting or working on my DST base. And I don't really stay in contact with any of my family. I mean, I see them on holidays and things, but save for the occasional birthday message none of us really talk. Maybe if I talked to my mum about this, she'd listen, but I'd hate to worry her. Lord knows she's got her hands full with my other siblings.
Maybe you're right about them giving me better advice than you anons. But you all are very nice, and it's been kind of cool talking about this online? I don't feel as nervous about it, at least.
Oh, I did manage to sign my number to the other person in my dreams, by the way! They haven't texted me yet, though, so it's a possibility they missed a digit. If they don't text by tomorrow, I'll sleep again and try signing it again.
Thank you again, anon! Dix/D6 is a very nice name, although I can keep calling you anon if that makes you feel better.

Can you describe the person that appears in the dreams? Do they look like someone you've seen in real life? And if so, have you checked with them to make sure they aren't experiencing the same thing?
-🎲
I wish I could describe them, but I can barely see them. We've got a couple of 'puddles' in between us, so they're largely in shadow. From what I could see, they're a little taller than me, with a strong-looking build? They're definitely too far away for them to hear me, or maybe I'm not actually shouting at all. For all I know, the place could be eating my sound or something.
They are aware of my existence, at least. We wave at each other every time we sleep. They're always there when I'm asleep, are they just alone when I'm not sleeping or have we synced up our schedules?
Maybe I'll try giving them my number by holding up that many fingers. It might be a bad idea to give a complete stranger my phone number, but hey, I'm already spilling my health problems on the internet.
Thank you for the ask by the way... Dice? A single dice is die, but calling you Die feels a bit rude. Don't die if you can help it.

Have you asked a doctor or therapist about your dreams? This seems like it could have pretty important meanings that they could know of.
I'm also curious about how some of those symbols look, and the general surroundings in those dreams..
Hello Anonymous! Thank you for showing me how asks work :)
To answer your questions, I do virtual meetings with my therapist, and when I described my dreams she didn't think too much of it. She tried to pry out a couple of deeper meanings to some of them, but since it seemed so random she didn't really have a lot to say. That's kind of what I get for getting the cheapest therapist I could. I've considered seeing a doctor a couple of times, but it seems like a bit of a waste of time and money just for something like this. And what would they even say? I mean, there is some kind of medicine to stop dreams or something, right? But they probably wouldn't give it for something like this. I don't know, maybe if this doesn't get better I'll actually go to a doctor.
Everyone keeps telling me it doesn't matter, and they're just random symbols, but it feels a little too random to be random, you know? Especially the person I keep seeing... They've been the one constant. They're the thing I remember most, but there's some other things that stand out.
For starters, every time the dream seems to take place on an ocean. Not in one, on one. I'm just standing on the water, like the top is solid or something. Isn't that called surface tension? I don't know, I didn't pay attention in secondary science. But anyways, it takes place on an ocean, but then there seems to be all these puddles scattered around as well? Or maybe, patches of lighter water, since the ocean itself is almost pitch-black. There's hundreds of these lighter puddles, all laid out in some kind of grid. Strangely enough, though, me and the other person seem to break the pattern? I feel like I could be reading too much into that.
One of the things that repeats the most is eyes. A bunch of eyes, all different shapes, sizes, and colors, all scattered about and staring at me. Some of them don't even have irises, which is even creepier if you ask me. But I'd take a million iris-less eyes over the fucking spiders. Now, they're kind of scribbled, cartoony spiders, so it's not terrible, but they still have eight eyes, eight legs, and are spiderlike enough to cause a bad time over all. They don't come near me, thank god, but they still skitter around the water and and make just enough noise so I always know they're there and-- I just gave myself the shivers, I'm going to stop talking about the spiders.
There's lots of shadows, as well. Like, people shadows? I can't recognize any of them, but they have little traits that feel so familiar to me. Don't ask me how, I couldn't tell you. It's not like I get to see them for very long. All they do is stare at me for a couple of seconds, then turn and walk away until they melt into the blackness. And it's weird, because even though I have no attachment towards any of them, I feel incredibly sad when they leave, almost like crying. That probably sounded really pathetic, but whatever.
The energy drinks have been working, though, I'm sleeping every other night now. I'm trying not to drink them during the day so I don't get used to them as fast, so hopefully I might be able to reach a point where I can sleep every couple nights.

Hi everyone! My name's Daniel. (Wait, are you supposed to use your real name on here?)
I don't really know how to use this site, but I figured that maybe there'd be somebody on here that could help me out with what's going on. I tried joining a Discord server, but they weren't really any help at all. So, I decided to try making this. Maybe some random Tumblr users will be more helpful then all the professional medical websites I've been looking at.
I've been a really vivid dreamer all my life. But recently, my dreams have started... Shifting. They're starting to feel too realistic, even though the place I'm in isn't realistic at all. Like lucid dreaming, except I'm aware of the other world rather than this one. There are these weird things and symbols that keep repeating themselves, and it just feels too real to be a normal nightmare. And the weirdest part is, every time I do dream like that (which has been every night I've slept in this past week), there's been another person there. I don't think he can hear me, but he definitely saw me.
Am I being strange for telling some random people on the internet this? I don't know. I tried to tell one of my online friends about it, but they just laughed and told me that it was a normal nightmare. But it's not. I don't know how, but it's not. And I don't want to keep sleeping if this keeps happening. I think I'm going to start trying energy drinks rather than coffee.
