Personal pet peeve of mine is when people can't tell that Spike LIED to Buffy in Fool For Love. No he did not tell her about William!!! No he did not tell her that he was a wimpy little upper class poet!!! Do you not understand that the "Baby I've always been bad" ➡️ smash cut to William writing a poem is ironic?? It's visual storytelling to indicate both that Spike is full of shit and to also show his real origins, which he is ASHAMED of and would NEVER at this point reveal to his enemy/girl he's into. He's trying to intimidate and impress Buffy, not be honest and vulnerable lol.

It just bothers me how often I see people who casually interpret that whole episode so literally. Buffy is NOT hearing what we're seeing. She also just wouldn't care or be sympathetic!!! She doesn't like Spike at this point, do you really think she'd listen to him pour his heart out like that and NOT use it against him? She would have relentlessly bullied his ass if she knew the truth lmao. Idk this is maybe my biggest BTVS fic ick, like I'm instantly clicking close if I see someone misinterpret the text so badly and fundamentally.

yknow if xander wasn't the forced JW stand in character then he coukd have been so much better, especially with anya. anya literally comes to sunnydale because xander fucked cordelia over so badly - we were owed at least one entire 22-episode season of xander chasing anya like a dog while she avoided him like the plague, because why would SHE chase a man that she KNOWS didnt treat his last girlfriend well?? why couldn't xander fall first?? he needed to learn a lesson in patience and respecting women, and if his and anya's arc played out differently it would have been so much more interesting and more enticing
