They hadn’t fucked yet, and he couldn’t figure out why. 

Eren fucked everybody. 

He felt like it should have been obvious. Eren didn’t hate him enough not to tell him everything, the fate of the entire world. So why hadn’t they done it? It didn’t make any sense.

He was seeing him tonight. And he was tired of waiting. 

Again, he was alone with him. A privilege so few had these days. And he’d exhausted all the previous methods. Sitting a bit too close to him, brushing past him as they moved, holding his gaze a beat too long and too intensely. Pandering to his insecurities, grabbing hold and squeezing lightly any time they presented themselves. Understanding enough to relate to his plights, but practical in a way that made it clear he knew how to solve problems. To move forward. And yet, nothing. 

What if Eren was waiting for a reason? No matter. It was too late for him to back out now. 

Tonight, he sat as close to him as he usually did, content to feel the warmth from his thighs, the light scent of his sweat. If he couldn’t be what he was, if that wasn’t what Eren wanted, then he could be something he was not. 

Eren was giving him instructions, directions. Orders, as per usual. 

“You can handle that, right?” 

Floch knew he needed something, something different, to trip him up. To make Eren pause. To make him see him differently. 

Lie. 

Armin had always been able to. Why couldn’t he do the same? 

“And what if I can’t?” 

He straightened his back, bracing for impact.

Instead of ire, or confusion, he was met with something else entirely, something that bloomed in Eren’s eyes as he stared back at him. Curiosity, maybe. Floch bit back the urge to speak again. 

“Yeah, you can.” 

It was so confident, the words so certain as they rolled from Eren’s mouth, it was eerie. 

He couldn’t lie to him. He was missing something. And he didn’t know what it was.

Eren knew. Eren knew everything. 

He knew that Floch would come toward him, stepping closer and closer until their lips and teeth rasped together, knew that the heat of his body would burn Floch outside and in, searing to the depths of him, recesses turned inside out, ablated. The soft bounce of the back of his skull against the brick wall as Eren’s hand closed over his wrist, their boots slotted together. 

It was happening, finally. And somehow, he wasn’t ready for it.
