“The Evil Social Media”
It is interesting that nowadays people seem to have different personality on social media than in person. It seems as if the social media has become a shield for people to save them from what they are scared of expressing in person! People tend to be more confident expressing themselves on social media than in person…and this is just wrong! When you meet the person ‘in person’, you just don’t know what to expect of them… are they going to be real…are they going to be fake! You are constantly dealing with a side of those people that is not ‘genuine’! Being genuine is like being honest… and of course every one likes honesty – at least those that I know! When you meet someone in person and they barely talk to you, you don’t expect them to send you a message on ‘facebook’, for example, and wish you a happy birthday or congratulate you on you new job. This is like sending 2 different signals to people – first one implying that “I don’t care about you” and the second one: “I DO care about you a LOT”! Am I the only one who gets confused by these signals? I am aware that there are people out there who just don’t care what people think of them or they don’t care about other people. But seriously, lets put our obnoxiousness aside for a second… what do we live for then? If we don’t care about other people or don’t care what they think of us, what are we doing here? Why do we live? Why do we work? Why do we choose certain type of clothing? We just need the attention! Unfortunately, social media has not been a great help! It is a good way of keeping in touch! But again what happened to respecting each other in person, in the first place? You meet someone in person, and instead of getting to know them better, you are thinking of when would be appropriate to add them on facebook, or follow them on twitter or instagram. Why is that? well, because we will have access to their information, online - we won't need to embaress ourselves by asking questions! There are so many sad things happening as a result of social media, and we are not aware of them... Or if we are, we can’t change them! it is interesting that we are aware of our addiction to social media – yet we can’t go to a ‘rehab’ for it! Instead we go on all-inclusive vacations with friends to disconnect from technology and in general the beastly world of ‘internet’! Isn’t that funny? As soon as the vacation is over we would let everyone know that we went away; by updating our ‘status’ or by ‘posting’ our pictures. We are interesting people!
