🌿🌻 A Sign Of Spring 🌻🌿

I recently finished this experimental sculpture and I want to share it with you as a little horraaay to spring!

I'm really into combining wool with clay - combining different materials, textures and surfaces that contrast and compliment eachother. And I am excited to continue to develop this "net" technique I have been exploring. I have more ideas that need to come to life :}

This sculpture to me, is a hopeful sign of spring. The little yellow pops of sunshine, or little yellow flowers, or however you want to see them, suddenly appearing from the snow and the coldness. A reminder that life persists and good things will come.

How do you interpret this sculpture, if you want to share I am very curious!

Today is also valborg (short for valborgsmässoafton), here in Sweden it is basically a celebration of spring where we light bonfires. Please tell me how you celebrate spring where you live?

I loved Mahito so much in The Boy and the Heron. Just a kind boy learning to be kind again. I could never get over how small he was. How young and innocent. So much seemed to be piled on him. If you see the movie I hope you have love for the boy, he needs all the grace you can give him.

Studio Ghibli will be like. what if you had no control in the adventure you were forced on. what if it was up to you to stumble blindly through the world your ancestor failed to balance. what if he tried to force the responsibility of balancing it onto you. what if you were made to let go of you mother (again. you didn’t get to say goodbye this time either). what if you remembered everything you were meant to forget.

With The Boy and the Heron, Miyazaki really said: I accept that my legacy is out of my control, that my children may not be my successors, that this tremendous monument I've built with a lifetime of toil, this fiery blessing that simply fell out of the sky, may not continue without me, In fact, it may crumble to dust, I accept it because my children and their children are alive and well, in this imperfect world, and thats enough. Yes, I accept that this is the end, but God damn, I'll go out with a bang.

I love my friends at work and I will miss them after I move. Lots of them are wishing me well and are happy for me. But half of them... And I know they mean well, but I wish they would stop saying "you'll be back. People always come back."

Because, to me, it's like they are trying to put a curse on me.

Also, folks keep asking me when my going away party is and that "we need to do something for you before you go!". But I'm not a party person and am busy with packing?

"Is it the person leaving who has to organize the party?"

"Well yeah!"

"Okay, well I'm actually kinda busy with packing and would rather not have one anyways."

"Oh well we have to do something before you leave!"

"But I just said I didn't want to???"

Which, again, I know they mean well, but that planning or even just going to a party, especially one I am not even interested in, is really draining for me.

They want to have a party for "my sake" but clearly it's not actually about me.

Gave her a haircut and put the stems in some rooting powder before plopping them in a vase of water. I hope all three manage to bounce back 🌻

That white pot in the second photo is home to a black velvet alocasia and she is having a very hard time coming back 😔
