Star Wars Empire comic issues #1 + #19 and Star Wars: Dark Times #5 really got me out here crying, screaming, and throwing up.

First we have this mini conversation in issue #1 between Anakin & Padmé after Shmi’s death and before they mount their ship to go to Geonosis, that’s not included in the movie that gives us insight of what happened a little bit after they left Tatooine and buried Shmi. Padmé trying to comfort Anakin of his loss and Anakin vowing to Padmé that he’d never fail her 🥲🥲🥲

Then we have this little moment in issue #19 of Vader storming into a Cavern to interrogate one of the patrons there and we see a sommelier (possibly a Nabooian woman) offer Vader some “blossom wine” which is only made on the Planet Naboo, and Vader stops dead in his tracks to stare at the woman, most likely remembering back to a certain Nabooian Senator who was once upon a time the wife of Anakin Skywalker before his tragic demise.

Then we have this moment in Dark Times #5 of Sidious affirming to Anakin that he’s devoted fully to only the dark side meaning that’s he’s basically “married” to the Order of the Sith, and now he’s in need of no “partner.” And guess what? Vader once again, flashes back to the beloved face of his wife at the mention of “never needing a partner” again.

Going through J.W Rinzler’s amazing book: “The Art of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of The Sith”

And I love this concept art designs that was drawn during the brainstorming stages of the writing process for the idea that Padmé was going to live a little past EP 3

First off! Her outfits always slap, secondly, this design is some great inspiration for a Padmé lives AU where Anakin doesn’t fall to the darkside but the Empire still manages to come about. In this AU, the demise of the Republic would leave Anakin & Padmé no choice but to run away and flee with their newborn babies till they can round up with the surviving Jedi and the Rebellion to figure out how they’re going to take on Sidious.

I love a good lightsaber fight and that process of learning the fights and the time spent with the stunt team. It's important for me to be able to do as much of that as I can, because it feels right. It feels like, you know, I need to be able to do these fights, to put on the cloak and have a lightsaber on my belt. You know, you gotta earn it.
