Happy Father’s Day to Greg Universe and Tom Baker!

Heck yeah!

I genuinely forgot that today was going to be Father’s Day (because I don’t celebrate it) so I don’t have a special thing for today. However, I’ll share what Sophie and Strawberry do for Father’s Day.

Ever since Sophie was little Father’s Day has always been important to her since she only had one parent for the longest time. She would make him a card, make him breakfast (Aubie would make breakfast Sophie just “helped” until she was old enough to actually cook), and would do whatever he wanted for the day. As she got older and Janeece came into the picture Sophie mostly stuck to making him a card and making him breakfast then the three of them (Aubie opting to go do something else so they can have family time) would go out for dinner to wherever Tom wants to. Sometimes Tom would take Sophie somewhere to celebrate Father’s Day (like a baseball game or a movie) just to have some father-daughter time, sometimes they would all go out to do something - but mostly it was a day that they would just vibe. Tom never really had plans for that day and would just do whatever. They also drop by Janeece’s parents’ house to wish Janeece’s father a happy Father’s Day and spend some time with him. (They don’t really visit Tom’s parents on Father’s Day since they live farther away, but they do call his dad to wish him a happy Father’s Day)

Steven on the other hand learns about Father’s Day way later (because the Big Donut has flyer in the window about a sale for Father’s Day) than most kids, but Greg never really minded since he didn’t really celebrate it himself - most years he even forgets when it’s happening. So that first year Steven tries to do a lot of things for Greg to the point that Steven is tired before they even get to do everything he planned (not that Greg minds - he’s just enjoying spending time with his son). The next few years Steven takes it easy on the planning, but still does a lot with Greg - even tells the gems that he’ll be busy with his dad all day to be able to do anything (even though being busy means watching some silly show or just hanging out on the beach). No matter what they do Greg enjoys it because he just enjoys spending time with his son.

• Cuprite’s voice claim is Tara Strong

• Danburite’s voice claim is Kathryn Hahn

• Kenadee’s voice claim is either Bennett Abara or Krystal Joy Brown (I’m very on the fence for this one because I just don’t know for sure who I’d have voice Kenadee)

I’d like to note that I’m indecisive on Kenadee’s voice claim because I’m torn on how I want her to sound. I sort of envision her sounding like a mix of Crona from Soul Eater and Toko Fukawa from Danganronpa, but that’s still a vague idea. (Another person I thought of as a voice claim for Kenadee was Laverne Cox, but I’m still on the fence for the voice claim) For now Kenadee’s voice claim is up in the air since I’d have to actually go through and listen to some voice audios of people to get a better idea of who I’d have as her voice claim.

I’m so glad you asked because I have actually thought about this for these characters (minus Coral & the Experimental Gems though considering there’s a ruby and a peridot in the EGs then you obviously know who their voice claims are)

So here’s my list:

• Sophie’s voice claim is either Kazumi Evans or Rebecca Shoichet (this is the only one I’m not super sure just yet on)

• Tom’s voice claim started out as a “haha funny” but now is genuinely who I envision for his voice, that being Damien Haas (from Smosh)

• Janeece’s voice claim is Cree Summer - which is a very nostalgic choice by me because Cree voiced a lot of characters from my childhood

Would Sophie, Tom and Aubie confuse the CG’s Amethyst for Amy? Would Amethyst remind both Tom and Aubie so much of her because they both look similar?

Not really. Amy and Amethyst have enough differences that it’d be difficult to confuse the two. Especially considering there’s gem placements (and that Aubie witnessed Amy give up her form for Sophie).

Tom was confused seeing Amethyst for the first time, definitely having to do a double take because he only ever knew of Aubie and Amy (he wasn’t against learning about gems, but he did want Sophie to focus on school before delving into her other half’s world - give her a chance to experience both while also having an education), but ultimately would know that they’re not the same gem(person). Not that Tom hasn’t accidentally called Amethyst “Amy” on occasions (old habits die hard) which Amethyst will role with because it doesn’t happen often enough to tug at her insecurities. Though the two do get along well.

Aubie most definitely does not confuse Amethyst for Amy - no one could. Aubie has spent most of her existence with Amy, she would be able to tell the difference. Amy and Amethyst’s personalities are so different - Aubie would sooner confuse Rose and Amy for each other before Amethyst and Amy because of their similar personalities (if they weren’t two different gems). Also Amy had such a specific style that was more pop star than rocker (that Amethyst has going on) so that’s another thing that would keep Aubie from confusing the two. (Plus Aubie knows that more than one kind of gem can exist at a time)

Sophie would see Amethyst more in a sibling light than confusing her for Amy. Especially since Sophie only knows stories of her mother (and the painting that was made of Amy before Sophie was born). Sophie also doesn’t know a lot about gem culture, but knows that there are multiple of one type of gem (so she knows that her mother wasn’t the only “amethyst” out there).

All three do get along with Amethyst and none of them really confuse Amethyst for Amy (this isn’t a Pearl & Mystery Girl situation lol).

Did Rose go to a special gem doctor when she was pregnant with Steven and did that gem doctor/scientist help rose create Steven’s gem and were there any special gem midwives who were there to help her give birth?

Nope. The only gems that Rose knows that weren’t corrupted is the CGs, only finding out that Amy & Aubie survived the corruption blast after Sophie moved to Beach City. Plus, Rose/Pink is capable enough of making a gem for Steven herself. She made Steven’s gem with ease (it was made as soon as she found out she was pregnant) and swallowed it. Since gems are biologically different from humans it makes sense that Steven’s birth would be different from a normal human birth. Rose would shapeshift just enough to allow the gem and the baby to merge together and be one without her gem interfering other than to provide the essence to make them (Steven & his gem) whole.

As for delivering Steven - Rose literally just went pop (as in she lost her physical form, leaving behind baby Steven beside her gem). She was in the safety of the home the gems and Greg built for Steven to grow up in when she gave birth to Steven. Greg instantly took over the situation (aka took care of the baby with the help of the gems) while Rose took her time to reform (going from her canon design to what she looks like for this au)

(The secret barn resident was indeed there for the birth of Steven - since she is a Crystal Gem and did fight alongside them in the war - and is close with Steven, but not so close with Rose)

The Crystal Gems are ever unaware of the Experimental Gems existence (I can answer how they survived on my other blog since it’s not important to this au - at least with the current story) and there are no other gems (except the ones in bubbles & Lapis in the mirror) on earth that haven’t been corrupted.

When you’re going to revamp the story and comic, would you just redraw the old comic pages from the old @forgottendiamondau blog?

Nope. Mostly because those pages aren’t relevant to the story anymore since I’ve changed a lot of things. For example, Sophie isn’t sneaking out to go to Beach City instead she’s moving there. Also the story was kind of rushed because I didn’t know how to do pacing properly nor did I have a timeline for the events unfolding in the story.

A lot of my stuff from back then was just to make stuff to keep people interested in my story with no real thought behind everything I was doing. Now I have a doc for the timeline, I’m narrowing down what I want to keep and what to save for a later date (like the Experimental Gems is something I shoved to SUF, for now, since it just felt like it didn’t fit what I wanted to tell in the story), I’ve moved away from this being an ask blog and just working on the overall story (as much as I loved doing the “ask the characters questions” I was rushing a lot of stuff and not thinking things out)

I’m still debating on whether I’ll be making comic pages or writing it out since I’m more skilled at writing than making comics, but you only can get good at something if you keep practicing. (Might do both, not sure)

If Tom and Janeece are going to most likely look like the same as they are in the present in their movie/future versions Would everyone else look the same as thier present designs or just some and everyone else would look different?

Like I just said I haven’t thought about anything past SU meaning I have not thought about how anyone will look in the future. (I only have a few reforms done for some of the CGs, but those won’t get revealed until I decide they will)

Also the movie isn’t going to happen in this AU because of how I’ve changed the story for some characters. Idk if I’ll even get to SUF since I haven’t even started this AU properly. So, any questions related to Future will be ignored from now on because I haven’t gotten there yet. When I get closer to that point of the story then I will potentially answer questions on Future, but for now that won’t happen.

Remember you can ask questions about season 1a or anything set before the au, but not anything after since I’m still working on things (I’m allowing season 1a questions so that maybe it’ll help inspire me with some episodes I’m not sure what to do in them)

What would movie/future Tom and Janeece look like?

Most likely they’d look the same as this post:

Mostly because I haven’t thought that far yet. The only reason I have any idea of what Sophie will look like in Movie/Future is because someone who’s no longer on tumblr made art of Sophie in a fashionable outfit - which I decided would be her future design since I felt like it would be fitting for future Sophie. Even then I still don’t know about anything past the og series since I haven’t thought that far for this AU.

Tbh the only things I’ve truly thought about for this AU is The Trail and how everything after that shifts to focus on the lost era of homeworld. However I have to work on everything before that. I have some ideas I’m rattling around in my head for what could happen in this AU, but I won’t say anything in case I decide not to pursue those ideas. (The only one I will talk about is I do plan on readding Kenadee to the story, but I’ll have to figure out when she’ll be introduced - mostly so Sophie can have a friend similarly to Connie)

Would Steven be bullied by the other kids in the beach city neighbourhood for being half gem freak and his gem freak family?

Nah. A lot of the adults know the CGs and Greg so they would’ve taught their kids that the gems are the protectors of Beach City (not that all the kids believe that) and to be kind to others. Also the kids of Beach City are chill.

Also because Steven doesn’t really venture far from the places close to the beach to not go too far from his home. When Steven does meet people outside of Lars and Sadie they’re all nice to him because Steven just exudes kindness that it’s difficult to be mean to him. (Empire City kids are built different because the busy city life is ruthless/hj)

The only hater is Kevin - that’s just a canon event for Steven (he’s just jealous of Steven because Steven is cooler than him) though Kevin will still come around eventually.

(Also if I include Kenadee in the au like I originally planned then bullying would definitely not be a thing because the Pizza family would shut it down quickly because Kenadee would’ve been a target for bullying if the kids of Beach City hadn’t been taught to respect others)

On a side note - I once had the idea that Kevin would try hitting of Sophie after she moved to Beach City which would annoy Steven (Kevin’s #1 hater) while Sophie is just confused (she’s never been hit on before so she has no understanding of if someone is or not - no matter how obvious they’re being coughautisticsophiecough) so Steven would convince Connie to form Stevonnie to pretend to be Sophie’s partner just so Kevin would leave her alone but I decided to scrap it because I just didn’t know how well to execute it and because it was just a silly late night idea that sounded better in my head than out loud. So it got scrapped.

Steven doesn’t know that his mum is Pink Diamond doesn’t he? Did she and Greg decide to keep it secret after he was born?

Yes and no - Steven knows, but doesn’t at the same time. Steven was told that his mom had once been Pink, but chose to become Rose because that felt more fitting to who she is. So Steven never really thought too much about it or really questioned his mom’s life as Pink Diamond. He didn’t find out about this until he was old enough to understand gem stuff. (Especially considering a certain barn resident once called Rose “my diamond” on accident when visiting, which led to the conversation)

Steven knows, but doesn’t know the full story like Greg doesn’t. Steven also doesn’t know much about the diamonds in general because that’s one of the few gem things that the CGs won’t talk about (though Amethyst wouldn’t even be able to talk about it with Steven since she emerged after the war)

Rose being Pink is common knowledge among the current active members of the Crystal Gems (+ Greg and Steven)

Probably not (even though I technically have before, but in sketch form and for a silly diamond swap AU idea I posted on @myrandomsuaus - also did one with for some pearls but I don’t think I’ve ever post it) mostly because idk which screenshots I would even edit to fit the AU. Does Greg still love Rose even after he found out that she was Pink Diamond?

Considering they’re still together it’s safe to say that is a yes. Greg found out Rose is Pink before Steven was born - it wasn’t something she wanted to keep from Greg since she didn’t want to lie to him. Sure, she told him that she isn’t Pink anymore, but she told him that Pink was who she was and doesn’t ever want to be again (because of how she was treated as Pink). Greg respects this and still loves Rose. He loves his tall woman no matter what.

What would a fusion of Sophie and either Tom or Janeece or even Aubie would look like? What about a fusion of Amy and Aubie?

I don’t really know about Sophie fusing with her parents simply because I’ve never thought about it and I really didn’t have good designs for them previously so I would have to figure that out.

As for Sophie and Aubie - I have an old design that, I’m not sure if I posted it or not, I made a while back of them. I definitely would need to redraw it since I’ve got updated designs, but I can tell you they fuse to make Morado Opal (or they did in the past, that might change but for now that is still what their fusion is called)

I also don’t have a drawing of an Amy and Aubie fusion, but I did make a just fused Purple Diamond and Aubie fusion (that is called Dark Purple Diamond/Morado Opal - the opal part being for when Amy and Aubie fuse). I’m not sure if I’ve posted that art either (I honestly don’t remember many of the fusions I’ve actually posted) but I’d still have to redraw it anyways because of updated designs. (Which I’ll work on in between making oc refs for artfight since that is coming up soon)

There are other fusions I need to redraw because of updated designs so feel free to ask about them (maybe you’ll get to see a fusion involving a character I haven’t made new art for - which is mostly because I liked their previous design so I haven’t changed it)

Does Sophie call Janeece “mom”?

When she was younger she never really did because she was used to calling her “Miss Minroe” so it took her some time to even call her “Janeece”. Then when she got into middle school she would start occasionally calling her “mom”, but not often enough for it to stick. However, she’s gotten more used to saying it now/when the AU starts that she will call Janeece “mom”.

Sophie does call Amy “mama” whenever referring to her so that she doesn’t get confused or confuse others on who she’s referring to. She has always called Amy “mama” since it’s what Tom would call Amy (and Aubie would soon follow suit) when showing off pictures of or referring to Amy so that Sophie would know who her mom is.

Ultimately yes, Sophie does call Janeece “mom”

Also Sophie will call Aubie her “aunty” because it’s easier to do that than to explain gem hierarchy to others (since Aubie would refer to herself as Amy’s pearl - which Tom didn’t ask too many questions about and Sophie would ask a lot of questions about but ultimately get shut down since Aubie doesn’t talk much about her past or gem kind). Plus, Sophie views Aubie as her “aunt” even if they aren’t related because Aubie has this “you’re not my child, but I will take care of you as if you were mine until your parents come to get you” mentality/vibe.

How bigger was Sophie’s gem when she was a baby and toddler and child?

On the outside it looked the same, but on the inside it took up more space - at least when she was a baby (she was a bit of a bigger baby just to make up for needing more space for her gem). Though as she grew her body could grow properly as she got bigger. She had to be careful as a toddler since all of her organs were smaller than most toddlers because of her gem, but by the time she was 4 years old her body had grown everything to it’s proper size and place.

However, certain organs had to create their own protective layer from her gem because of where it sits in her body and certain parts of her body that don’t work like they’re supposed/never grew. Other than that she was fine/is fine - her body is healthy and as normal as a teenage girl’s body could be. Except for the fact that her family’s bloodline will end with her if she doesn’t end up having a sibling :3

Of course I’m kind of just pulling this out of thin air since I hadn’t given this much thought except for one thing so for now this is canon, but I could change my mind (probably won’t since in the end not all of this will effect the au :3c)

Who was Tom’s government friend? And also, was Sophie born in Area 51?

And what did the government friend look like?

Honestly the government friend is just a running gag for me on how Sophie was able to legally attend school since you have to prove a lot of stuff (at least when I was younger you needed certain things to prove the legal existence of a child before they could enroll in school) before you can enroll. So, I really don’t have much on this government friend.

However, I will say this - Sophie was not born in Area 51. She was born in Empire City… actually she wasn’t, but it wasn’t Area 51. It was actually Purple’s ship that she landed on Earth in. It allowed Purple to give birth without effecting the things around her (since she’s literally giving up her existence for Sophie)

I did come up with a placeholder name for the government friend so I could have something to call them - my placeholder name is Bob. Simply because I thought it was funny. Will that stay? Knowing me probably. As for design idk just yet. I don’t even have any lore on how Tom would even have a government friend so I really don’t have a design for them either (him? since I’m calling the friend Bob)

Anyways, Tom has a government friend named Bob (name pending) that helped him with making legal documents for Sophie. Does this mean the government also technically owns Sophie? Well…. Let’s not think about that (though that would make for an interesting au - raised by the government/government bioweapon/an au that I most likely won’t make because I don’t even have this main one done… though I guess that’s sort of the plot of lab raised? I don’t really remember it’s been awhile since I’ve consumed lore for su aus since I’m not super hyperfixated on su)

Little side rant aside - I haven’t put too much thought into Bob since I really don’t have any plans for him or the government in my AU.

How and where was Steven planted/born? Kindergarten since that’s where gems are planted aren’t they? Or did rose plant Steven and his strawberry diamond gemstone inside her womb?

He wasn’t ever planted - he was born almost the same way as canon.

I hopefully don’t have to explain how children are made, but that’s how Steven was made. Rose knew that Steven wouldn’t have his own gem when he would be born so she created his own gem - or at least parts of his gem - that she swallowed to allow them to fuse together into one being. This process was done like a few days after conception so that Steven could properly combine with his gem. (So that if his gem was ever separated from him that it would still be Steven just pure gem)

Since shapeshifting isn’t a difficult thing for gems Rose just made sure that there was room for Steven and his gem inside of her to grow until she could give birth. This is where Greg finds out about Rose being Pink Diamond (it doesn’t really change anything because Greg knew that Rose had a past she ran from and it kind of symbolizes that though they’ve change who they are over the years a piece of the old them still remains at their core) because Rose ends up losing her physical form because of how draining it was to give birth. It takes her a few hours to recover her physical form (giving birth is draining from what I’ve heard) then returns to finally meet her son.

Rose is the happiest gem on earth seeing Steven.

“He is the perfect fusion of human and gem - something entirely new - that will do great things” - Rose after seeing Steven for the first time.

Never really thought I’d ever answer about how Steven was born, but I’m glad that I’ve thought about it before so I could be prepared for this ask.

Also - though I know it wasn’t asked - Sophie was born similarly to canon Steven, but Amy was actually brought to a very special place to have Sophie (I’m committing to the bit that Tom has a government friend that is just helping him hide the fact that Sophie is half alien lol)
