Ever since Chester Bennington died, I’ve been trying, without even understanding it, to hold on to other people. He’d been guiding me through my life ever since I was a kid, and then when suddenly he was gone I couldn’t turn to him anymore. Now, it turned out, subconsciously, I’ve been looking for other guiding figures among people whom I deem “close” to Linkin Park. Blink-182. Twenty One Pilots. Limp Bizkit. Chino Moreno. I’ve been listening to them, too, as I was growing up, and at first, as I was finding solace in their music, it felt like Chester was trying to pull them away. It was very obvious that I was trying to replace, substitute, imitate. Then, as I moved on, these two bands are as important to me as they ever were, because all that pain associating them with LP was actually the process of healing. Chester has guided me through tough times of my life, and then he took away the whole band from me, deprived me of Linkin Park. Now, others have helped me to deal with that loss. They’re not replacement. They’re my band aid.
I hate the fact I needed to put them in this painful position. But thank God I have them.
Happy birthday, Chester. I’m missing you every day.

I’ve been in a bunch of fandoms in my life, ok, and so far, the Queen fandom, for some reason, is the nicest. Idk why you have to be like this guys, but go on.

Usually you have a favourite band member. It’s easy with a lot of bands - no disrespect to any, though. It’s hard with Queen. Because the personalities and talents, all four, are so distinctive and interesting, all four have such different kinds of powerful charisma to them, that it is pleasantly frustrating to try to choose just one to stan.
Which one will it be for you?
The dark horse, the smartypants with technical mind, the ginger disco dancer?
The blond hottie, tantrum throwing, drums hitting, doe eyed, lowkey incredibly intelligent yeller?
The lush, microphone fucking diva that can’t even breathe without capturing everyone’s complete adoration? The untouchable talent?
The genius? That hairy winking, grinning, this-close-to-slap-you-on-the-face born-to-be-guitar-player?
Choose wisely

Wanna memorize Love Of My Life just for recreational singing, like when hoovering, doing dishes, or to diss my cat. Reblog with a song you hum to yourself or sing when doing usual things.

Weird to say it, but as an asexual, Freddie oddly normalized cock for me. It’s really hard not to notice his dick in his tight pants every time you see a picture of him. With the time, it became so normal, bc I realize he couldn’t have just put it away somewhere could he? So now I just go, there’s Fred, and his dick on the left. As I said, it’s very strange, but Freddie made me realize it was a non-detachable part of a body. I can now take the whole concept of a cock lighter than before. Why are we here? What is going on? Why am I discussing Freddie’s dick at 2:54 am?
Sigh. Even in death, still teaching me something. Bless you Freddie man

Proof that Queen has done literally every genre under the sun:
Queen are known as a rock and roll band to most people, but they’re actually extremely versatile.
I obviously didn’t include all their songs, but I have put more than one in some genres if I think both are significant.
Arena rock - we will rock you
Ballad - love of my life
- Nevermore - short and hauntingly beautiful, a definite underrated gem
Blues - sleeping on the sidewalk - sung by Brian in an American accent
- My melancholy blues - for a completely different kind of blues
Country - ’39
Dance/AOR (adult oriented rock) - You don’t fool me - I cannot stress both how UNDERRATED yet also how bizarrely un-Queen-like this catchy song is. Even the music video looks like it’s from some grunge 90s indie band, and doesn’t feature any of the band members. Seriously, why has no one ever heard of this song?! (Epilepsy warning for the music video)
Disco - dancer
- staying power
Dixie Jazz - bring back that Leroy Brown - Queen and ukulele are not two words I would ever think could be in the same sentence, but here we are I guess
- good company
Funk - fun it
Glam Rock - Killer Queen
Gospel - somebody to love
Heavy Metal - death on two legs
- flick of the wrist
Jazz - dreamer’s ball
Latin - who needs you - sometimes I need to just take a minute to sit down and process that Queen, the very same people who made we will rock you, also did this
New Wave - calling all girls
Opera - Bohemian Rhapsody (middle section)
- Exercises in free love - this is actually from Freddie’s solo album, but it’s too incredible not to share. This is pure, raw talent at it’s finest. It’s just straight up real opera.
Prog Rock - liar
Protest Song - white man - this is a metal song about how white people are assholes to Native Americans and it’s the fucking BOMB
- is this the world we created - this was sung at Live Aid, good for gazing out of a train window crying
Rap (ish) - another one bites the dust
Punk - sheer heart attack
Rockabilly - crazy little thing called love
Soundtrack - flash
Techno Pop - Radio Ga Ga
The god damn fucking national anthem - god save the queen
Thrash Metal, before thrash metal even existed - stone cold crazy
- ogre battle
Waltz (yes, a real waltz) - the millionare waltz
Genreless songs:
Cool cat (reggae?)
Jesus (psychedelic rock/religious rock??)
Seaside Rendezvous - (20s seaside ditty maybe??) - This has KAZOOS in it I’m fucking speechless
Mustapha (Arabic/ethnic rock??) - sung in a mixture of Arabic, English, and Parsi
Feel free to add more that I’ve missed! I’m not an expert on music so I apologise if I made any mistakes.

I think my favourite thing about Freddie is that he was tough as a rock. Not that we didn’t know it, but what I admire the most is, being the ultimated diva, he could still be really tough. I will never forget the piece I read which said that he refused to back down when being beaten by a stronger guy. He was doing boxing and would not quit for the hell of it. As if giving up one step, at any point of his life, was worse for him than death.
That refusal to give up at the ring, and later, refusal to give up the show when he felt unwell, all led to him being strong and ready for what happened at the end.
Freddie had to be dragged away from life by force because he wouldn’t just back down. And even then he stood on his two feet firmly, just like when he was a young boy, fighting against a stronger opponent.
